Works great. The 1-star deduction is for on-off switching. Instead of providing a separate on-off switch, the unit requires you to turn the dial from the off position to the desired unit, having to click through all of those you’re not using. Not just inconvenient, but puts added wear on the dial mechanism, shortening life span. But I suppose for the low cost you can overlook this. Otherwise, I’m quite satisfied with its performance/

I recently bought the AstroAI Digital Multimeter Tester, and I’m really happy with it. I just needed something simple and reliable for small electrical checks around the house, and this one fit the bill perfectly. It’s easy to use, the readings are clear and accurate, and it feels well made. I’m not an expert, but it worked exactly as I hoped. A solid little tester that does its job without any hassle!

Finally a digital VOM that is easy to use and works!! I’ve tossed two or three in past and it’s an instrument I use almost daily as a ham radio restorer and my own home handy man.

Picked this up to have a reliable tester around the house, and it’s been great so far. The AstroAI multimeter feels sturdy, the screen is clear, and the readings pop up fast. This AstroAI multimeter will surprise you in two ways:1. It’s somehow worse than the *free* one from a well known cheapo tool store known for its Freight it receives from the Harbor.2. Despite its name, the product does not contain any AI! At least I don’t think so.How could you live without AI in your multimeter? Well, let me tell you. As soon as I got the AstroAI multimeter in my hands, I ran a continuity test on a known circuit and it didn’t work. I tried it again, then it worked. Trying it the third time, it worked with a lag. Trying it by directly connecting the two probes, it cycled between working, not working, and working with a lag.Maybe it does have AI, and that explains the lag? I mean on one hand, you could just have a simple DC circuit with a buzzer, and on the other hand, you could have a deep neural network evaluating the input circuit against AstroAI’s proprietary LMMM (Large Multi Meter Model).I have no idea which direction AstroAI went with this multimeter, but I do know this: 50% of the time, it works every time.

This one is cheaper than the Klein Tools pen. It comes with led indicators and a flash light. I was easily able to determined which wire is the Line (pictured) and which one is the load (less voltage coming through). Neutral & Ground are more universal in their labeling. No need for any fancy tool when this one gets the job done.

Seems to work and comes with warning not to rely on it entirely. I tend to agree. It would turn on when I put in AB alkaline batteries. Then I tried rechargeable ones and it still would not turn on. I was ready to turn it back when I notice two batteries on the table. Must have fell out unnoticed. I put in the non-alkaline batteries (no less) and it turned on instantly even though the manufacturer says to use alkaline batteries which did not work. I then took out the plain mercury batteries and reinstalled the AB alkaline and it turns on and seems to work. Jiggle around the sensor to make sure it captures the loose AC radiation and so far it works in capturing them showing the wire or connection is HOT.

Great quality and works well. Batteries are included. Used many times with perfect results. If you work on any electrical items in your house, you must have one of these for safety! Definitely worth every penny of the cost.

I like that this can have the sensitivity range set, and that it gives feedback (on the screen) of how strong a signal it is getting. This reduces some “false positive” results from phantom power.However, the normal safety precautions for non-contact voltage detectors are *absolutely critical* here. For some reason, my unit would periodically turn off with no warning. It didn’t appear to be a timeout, but rather just a sudden loss of power. Thus, I could not rely on “no beep == no power” as is somewhat reliable on other similar devices. To refresh, the safety protocol is:1. Test live-suspect-live. That is, after turning the device on, put next to a known-live wire (beeps), then next to your maybe-not-live wire (no beep if really not live) then back to the known-live wire (beeps again). If the device loses power, that last step *will not* beep, indicating an issue.2. Always rotate the tip of the NCV when exploring a box! When the “flat” part is parallel to the wire you will usually get a reading, while you will often *not* get a reading if it is orthogonal to the wire.3. Never rely on just the NCV, but also use a multimeter before touching any exposed metal. The NCV is *great* at determining hot vs neutral, but much less definitive than a solid connection between those two with a multimeter that determines if they have power or not. There are also cases where multiple hots can “cancel out” leading the NCV to conclude there is no power when in fact there is.

I purchased this almost 2 years ago for personal engineering projects. So far, I think it is a great product that exceeds the price. This feels almost exactly like the ones I used during the same time period in my engineering classes, but these are a fraction of the cost. It contains all the features that you need, such as measuring inside diameter, measuring length/outside diameter, changing units, zeroing the scale, etc. The digital screen is easy to read. Each measurement is highly accurate, with a tolerance of 0.001″ according to the manufacturer. My only problem I experienced is the included batteries are weak. It does include a replacement, but regardless it is a frustrating process to change the batteries. Regardless of this, the digital caliper exceeds expectations at this price and I would buy it again.

Great caliper at a better price. Seems accurate and sturdy enough to not have to worry about breaking it easily. The on/off buttons trigger easily, so these have a tendency to run down batteries quickly. But the batteries are cheap to replace. Easy to use, easy to convert to metric/standard. Easy to read display as well.

surprisingly good quality for the price. I have not compared the measurements with my older laboratory grade calipers, but I got this cheap one for my tool box anyway…and the case is very protective…nothing to write home about, and the cheap, molded plastic will not last long, but the case fits in a nice cubby in my box, so I am satisfied.one thing that shows it’s lesser-than-professional build quality is how loose the adjustment wheel is. I had to check it was not about to fall off, but it simply has a lot more slop than a pro level. (this wheel is meant to spring away from the caliper so that you don’t accidentally change the measurement…..standard mechanism….just a lot lower manufacturing tolerance at that point, so it feels loose…but works perfectly fine.Sure, this is an indicator of other build quality, but being that it is purely digital, with very course graduations, only the digital device and the track upon which it rides, along with those of the dynamic jaw, need be of excellent tolerance……..WE WILL SEE.

After I ordered this Jiavarry caliper I read the one-star reviews where users complained it did not last very long for them before going into error mode and rapidly displaying random non-sensical numbers on the digital display. When it finally arrived (took a few more days than originally promised) I immediately tested it out with a 1-2-3 block that I purchased from Amazon for that purpose, as well as a feeler gauge set that I also purchased from Amazon. In both cases the measurement was PERFECT – the 1-2-3 block measurements were EXACTLY one-inch, two-inch, and three-inch all the way down to the thousanth (like 03.000, not 03.001 or 03.002). The feeler gauge I measured was also perfect (0.035 and so on) with no variation or skipping around with the measurement. We’ll just have to see how long it lasts, but if it lasts 9-months or more, I will be satisfied given the low cost (about $15 with the discount offered by Amazon). It also feels substantial in weight, and well balanced, unlike the cheap Pittsburgh brand from Harbor Freight Tools which I’ve had for a number of years, but have never been as near as accurate as this one.The plastic case is also nice and should keep the caliper protected from the elements throughout its life.The only negative I have is the battery compartment has two very tiny screws holding a plastic plate over the battery, and I worry those screws could be easily dropped and lost. The screwdriver provided in the case is slightly magnetized so I’m hoping that is enough to keep hold of the screws. I imagine if I lose one of the screws I could use duct tape or something, but in the mean time I will just be really careful, hope the battery lasts a long time, and open the battery compartment with great care over a bench to keep the screws from scattering.

Works well on drywall. Easy to use, it took some practice to figure out how fast to scan a wall. Faster than I thought. I wasted way too much money on stud finders that were junk. Well made, videos made setup and use a snap. Very impressive and now has a place in my toolbox.

Honestly, I am quite impressed by this stud finder. I have used many others, and they have always been hit or miss, or they fail after some time. This, however, is awesome; it is so easy to use and very accurate. I commend them for actually providing something that actually works in the stud finder market. Bravo!

I really hate using other electronic studfinders, but this one is dead simple and works consistently. I got it mainly so I could easily find the center of a stud, detecting electrical wires is a nice bonus.

I own an older model of Franklin Sensors’ stud finder, and I bought this newer model to increase the precision of my stud detection. The newer model has more LEDs with reduced spacing between LEDs, which makes it easier to identify the exact center of your studs. The new model appears to be very accurate and precise. I also appreciate the small bubble-level, which helps you keep the tool horizontal during usage, further improving the accuracy.I’m just giving it 4 stars not 5 for 2 reasons:1) The older+cheaper stud finder from Franklin Sensors seems to function fine with NiMH rechargeable AA batteries that are charged >1.3 volts. This means that if your AA batteries are charged half-way, the older model will work fine. The newer model doesn’t light up unless the AA batteries are >= 1.4 volts (maybe 1.35… maybe 1.38… I don’t know exactly). The NOMINAL voltage of NiMH rechargeable AA batteries is 1.2 volts. In practice, high-quality AA NiMH rechargeable batteries (Sanyo Eneloop, Amazon Basics, etc) can reach a voltage slightly above 1.4 volts when they’re fully charged. At 90% charge, the voltage generally drops somewhere between 1.3 and 1.4. I’ve used this stud finder with freshly-charged high-quality NiMH AA batteries, and it works great. On one project, I then tried to use it again the next day with those batteries after maybe just 20 minutes of usage the prior day, and it wouldn’t turn on. After I recharged my batteries to 100%, it continued to work.Alkaline AA batteries have a nominal voltage of 1.5V. I don’t like to use disposable batteries because I find them to be wasteful. I have lots of devices that will function fine with rechargeable batteries that have a voltage >1.2V or 1.3V. It’s unfortunate that this stud finder can only work with batteries charged >90%. For me, it just means that I have to fully charge a pair of batteries before I use the tool. Since I know this, it’s OK, but it’s inconvenient. I think I would still use the new one that requires fully-recharged batteries (>90%) over the older one that will work fine with moderately-charged batteries (>50%) since the new one is more precise and has the convenient integrated level. Still, Franklin Sensors could have added a voltage regulator circuit to this tool that would have allowed it to operate totally fine with batteries >1.3V, which would have made it much more convenient to use. If you’re a professional remodeler who needs to find a lot of studs over the course of an entire day, you probably need to bring a spare pair of AA rechargeable batteries plus a charger to your job site and possibly recharge and swap the batteries at least once per day to use this tool.2) They really could have done a better job designing the cover for the battery compartment. It’s actually better on this model than the older model, but neither are great. It’s cumbersome to open the battery compartment, and, over time, the cover can get loose while you’re using the tool. They could have designed the cover with a simple hinge and thumbscrew or some other locking mechanism that would be less prone to loosening over time.It’s still a great tool. Despite the shortcomings, it’s still the best stud finder that I’ve ever used. I mounted some slat walls and shelf brackets in a storage closet in my house, and I was able to easily find the center point of the studs behind my drywall with this stud finder.

I have Zircon stud finder which was coming up with confusing results in this one particular area which has a lot going on behind the walls. Because of the varying stud results I purchased this stud finder which detects studs and power. It is easy to use, the LEDs make the stud width easy to determine and mark off the center. The power finder is accurate too. It handled my little job perfectly and I’m pleased with the purchase.

I owned a wall stud finder years ago and it was ridiculously unreliable, but it was also cheap. You really do get what you pay for (usually, not always). There are a lot of cheap stud finders on Amazon, and maybe they work. I can’t speak to them. But I bought an heavy piece of metal art and absolutely needed to find a stud (wood) for it.This little guy is so cool and easy to use. It identified studs easily and, importantly, also detected electrical wires. Found a good one on the first try. The directions were also very well done, no small achievement these days. Highly recommend it if you need a reliable wall stud finder.

I’ve been using this tape for about a week now. Some of the reviews indicated that the hook on the end was loose and affected the accuracy of the ruler. I discovered I had exactly the same problem. However, upon examination I realized that if the rivets were set better, it would put it back into an accurate position. For that reason I used a peen hammer and was able to tighten up the rivets to where they do not slip anymore. It didn’t take very much pressure and I did not hammer hard. Just a few taps and things tightened right up. It is now dead on accurate.I like the heft and feel of the housing of the tape in my hand. I enjoy the separate finger break underneath and the regular locking mechanism works well. I also enjoy that I can stretch the tape out somewhere between 10 and 11 ft before it kinks and falls. That’s much better than the other tapes that I’ve been using.I hope that it will last as long as it feels like it will.

Best tape measure I’ve ever owned, at 68 yo that’s saying something. This one feature makes a huge difference and it’s so simple. Allows complete and safe control of the retreaval.

Very good tape mesure, it has very good accuracy and the lock feature is good but it is heavy because it’s 30 feet if you don’t need the 30 feet for something I would just get like the 16′ or 25′ one!

This is a fantastic tape measurer. I previously had a very expensive one from a different popular brand and the locking mechanism broke after a few uses. I don’t see that being an issue with this one! The locking mechanism works great (and I’ve already used it a few times), and the whole thing feels very high quality and sturdy. The price was great, too! Highly recommend.

Great tape measure. The package of two is certainly a good deal, particularly for someone like myself who constantly misplaces things. I have confidence that when I rediscover my MIA tape it will still look like new, made of the toughest materials polymer chemists have yet developed. They could have spared that effort on packaging; removing that while preserving all digits is a real test of patience.

I found out that tape measures have good repeatability if they are of the same brand. Different brands will often give different measurement results, especially at full length. This excellent 2-pack should help with that. Everything you could expect in a 25’ tape measure.

For decades I have stuck with some of the cheapest (albeit branded) tape measures on the market. When I misplaced my last one on an Ikea shopping trip, I took it as a sign to upgrade. This is far from the fanciest one out there but it feels like a huge step up in build quality and functionality. The blade is much sturdier and the thumb lock actually, well, locks. The finger brake is a cool feature. I wish I got this years ago instead of cheaping out for so long.

The media could not be loaded. Doncha hate when you extend the blade of your tape measure, and you’re pretty sure it will stay rigid for the distance you need, but it collapses under its own weight? Well, this one goes 9 feet before that happens. Really nice tape measure. Very heavy and you can tell it’s a DeWalt! My complaint (which cost a star on the review) is the GD packaging. I needed a screwdriver and a box cutter to just try to get into this thing. I mean, I can see the thing, I just can’t use it. I don’t know who came up with the idea in the board room to make it nearly impossible to get this out of the packaging, but I hope there were relieved of their duty. I can’t even imaging a guy on a construction site with a deadline getting his new tape measure in and standing there on a high-rise beam trying to get this thing out of the package. It’s utterly ridiculous. It took me about 7 minutes just to get it out of the Fort Knox security package. I had paper and plastic all over my workbench and nearly sliced off my finger twice. And I bought two of these things so I had to do that twice. So WHY do they make it that way? Can’t DeWalt just have a nice easy open package? Who’s idea was this and can I please have a word with them? Perhaps one day someone will read this and know the person that came up with this idea and forward this on to them so they know the pain they caused. Or even better, maybe Mr. DeWalt will one day stumble upon my review and see my frustration and get the packaging fixed so we as the consumer won’t have to have physical therapy or a visit to the emergency room just to measure a lamp.

I volunteer as a builder in Musanze Rwanda at an NGO that has American, European and African builders.The Americans that help build are more accustomed to Feet Inches while the African and Europeans use Meters.The Bosch GLM100-23 is an excellent tool that is easy for Americans to use Ft In and then quickly change settings to Meters for Africans and Europeans to use. The building team constantly take turns using the Bosch Laser all day into the early night. Tip …. When we have to measure a long distance we place a white thin stake into the ground where we can see the red dot. We note the distance. Then repeat the process with more white thin stakes until we reach the end of the total distance. We know the thickness of the white stake and add it to the total. It works perfectly.

See photos. Bought 4 brackets to mount to garage ceiling for storing 2x4s & smaller lumber. Mounting in open space between 2 garage doors. 3 brackets needed to be in perfect alignment from 1st mounted one. Not possible to use a level on side of garage door track to mark reference point on ceiling. Rails have rounded edges. Bought Bosch Blaze Laser Distance Measure devise, “laser tape.” At 1st mounted bracket measured distance from edge to wall on other side of garage, 12’ 9 ¾”. Then used laser tape in other direction to find rafter 24” distance between 3 other brackets to hit attic joists. Ceiling is textured sheet rock that makes using stud finders very inaccurate. Used Bosch laser tape again to mark already measured distance to wall. Bosch laser tape made project finally move very quickly and accurately. The Bosch laser tape is so impressive for its accuracy to fraction of inch, very clear white on black display, one switch operation & very handy size that fits into the palm of the hand. Love this product!

Good: Accurate. Amazing that it can time a laser with this much accuracy, but it does. Dead on perfect vs. a yardstick. Discovered I’m 1/4″ taller than I thought I was. Easy to use despite only two buttons. Battery life appears to be good since I’m still on the first pair despite all my playing around (and some serious work.)Bad: Beam is a bit weak. If you’re going to measure distances anywhere near the advertised 100′ range, make sure you do it at dusk. Enclosed pamphlet has tons of info re not looking into a laser beam that won’t hurt you, but to learn how to actually USE the thing you have to go online and download a PDF…that contains one page of useful info. Blow the extra penny on paper instructions, Bosch.Bottom line: I bought this to measure the rooms in my house and the size of the lot it sits on. An awkward two-person job with a tape measure, effortless with this gadget. Just don’t expect to measure over 50′ or so outdoors with the sun out. Five stars.Bottom line:

Excellent small laser measure. Small enough to keep in a pocket. Easy to use. Numbers and fractions are clear to see. Calculations are made in a second. Use mostly for measuring crown molding–perfect for that.

Having used mechanical tape measures my entire life, (minus 5 years) I finally decided to go digital. Accuracy on this unit is exceptional, measurement options offer a great variety, simple layout and it works. Plus its a Bosch, they are just made well and last. There are many other units out there with various bells and whistles, but I just needed a unit that measured accurately and I could use by myself. This is it. I hesitated due to the price but it is well worth it. I found my new tape measure replacement. If you simply need something accurate and reliable this is it.

These things are amazing!Cons would be: Not good in bright sunlight, not waterproof, don’t look into the laser cause it’s hotter than is really safe to get the long distance, not good in high dust, rain or mud, and don’t drop it a lot….But if you measure stuff indoors in nice places all the time, this will totally eliminate steel tape measures!!!!!!So if you need to measure things indoors in nice situations a lot. this IS the total ticket!It would be nice if it came with a nice case or belt/pocket pouch…Given the limits I mention here, it is a rock solid product!

I needed a meter for around the house, and this one more than meets my requirements. It is a little more expensive than you might want to spend if you don’t have experience with electronics but it has great features you won’t find in a cheaper meter. Things like the flip out stand on the back, the slots to hold the test probes, the backlight, and ability to store the reading, are things you will not find in bottom of the line meters. If all you want to do is check to see if your AA batteries are dead this is more than you need, but if you are going to open up something electrical or electronic this should be all the meter you will need.

Bought this moisture meter to keep check on the newly installed pressure treated deck rails. I know they say to wait months before staining but I read an article that says you can stain when the lumber is dry enough, 15% moisture content or below. So being impatient like I am I bought this meter. I checked the lumber after installing and it measured about 25% on average. 3 weeks later and it is about 20% on average. Won’t be too much longer hopefully! This thing is easy to use, easy to read and comes with an extra set of probes.

I recently noticed a small crack in my ceiling that has a large brown outline around it. The brown outline is clearly water damage, but while the crack is definitely new, I cannot tell if the water damage has always been there or not. I bought this device to help me to determine if I need to call in a professional.The product arrived today, as expected. It was in its retail packaging, which is a clamshell. You’ll need scissors to open it up. A 9v battery was also inside the clamshell. I’m not sure why the change, but I’m really happy that companies are now including batteries with their toys.So I took the meter out of the packaging and put in the battery. No screws to take out or anything. The battery cover just clips back on.The device couldn’t be much easier to use. There are only 3 buttons..1. Power. Hold this to turn the moisture meter on and off2. Mode. Press this to switch between wood and “construction material” mode.3. Lock/Sound. Press this toggle “lock” of the display in case you want the percent to stay on the screen. Hold this to toggle whether or not the device beeps (you probably don’t want it to beep).I’d be testing my drywall ceiling, so I put the moisture meter into “construction material” mode. I was hoping I wouldn’t need to jam it into my ceiling to see the results, so I first tested a part of the ceiling I knew did not have a leak. The meter read about 3%. I moved over to the brown spot and pressed the needles against the ceiling (I didn’t push in) and, depending on where I was along the brown spot, the reading ranged from about 2%-6%. According to the guide on the back of the device (which is great), this means my ceiling is not very moist. Obviously that was good news.Then I started to worry that the device would not function right if it wasn’t fully pushed into the ceiling. I really did not want to put holes in the ceiling, but I figured that in the best case, I’d need to paint over the brown spot anyway, so two little holes couldn’t hurt. So I jammed the needles into the ceiling in a few places and getting a consistent reading was not easy. In a few of the spots, the percentage changed from between 1%-2%, then from 7%-10% and back again. I wasn’t moving the meter — it just could not decide the moisture level. Now, I understand the science behind the device (at least I think I do), so I get that I could have been moving it a little or maybe I was there was some movement within the ceiling so the circuit was not continuously completed.. I’m really not sure. I tried a few different places in the ceiling, and in the end, I have slightly more confidence that there is not a leak on the ceiling, but I am not sure about it. Hopefully if there was a leak, the device would be more decisive in telling me about the moisture.Overall, I think I’m happy about the purchase, but only because I got a little extra confidence for $30, which is probably less than I would have paid an “expert” to come and check it out. If you’re a home inspector or contractor who will be charging people for your use of a moisture meter, I would look into the more expensive options, but for a homeowner who does not want to pay $100+ for a device you’ll probably use 2-3 times in your lifetime, this one will give you a little more information than you currently have.In summary, very easy to use, but I’m not completely confident in its ability to give reliable results.

I’m just a DIYer, but the tool worked as I expected. I have only used it a few times and it is too new for me to comment on durability.

Don’t substitute this for proper safety procedures, but it does help give peace of mind as a tool to double check for current as a secondary tool.

Worked great for 2 months then started blinking red and green even with new batteries. Klein tools surprisingly not helpful. DO NOT BUY.Follow up- outside Amazon return window but contacted Klein tools who replaced with new tool. Rating increased.
