    These pads are great! They absorb a fair amount of liquid and with the plastic backing it does not leak through. While they are called puppy pads I use them with my nearly 16 year old poodle and he always goes on them if he gets caught short while we are out. Good value and the extra large means that a box of 50 will last at least 2-3 months.

    I know it’s just a pee pad, but these work great, perfect size and you get a really good value. I can find a better price for the quantity! They are the only ones I buy and these are being used for an adult medium sized dog so it’s not just a little puppy squirt!

    I have mixed feelings about these pee pads. I am a long time user of KIRKLAND brand doggie pee pads. But, I didn’t renew my card so alternate options had to be considered. I lay down 4 and overlap somewhat to create a square. My dog is 20 yrs old and is a potty pad baby since birth. She has never missed her potty area. So for us, there is no leakage… yet. I do find these pads to be extremely thin! That is my concern right now. The Kirkland brand are thicker and contains the urine to a smaller area. These pee pads catch the urine, but it is spread to the size of a dinner plate when she is done. She, meaning a female, 10 lb chihuahua dog! And she HATES to get her feet wet when she is peeing! I was hoping that when I took the pads out of the bag they were suctioned in, they would fluff up some, but no. I can see myself changing these pads more often. So, value for money…if I use twice as often changing, No! I may just have to resort back to Kirkland.

Cleanup is simple, and they don’t leave any weird odor behind.     The 50 pads were divided into 2-25 pad bundles and each was wrapped in plastic. Now they wrap all 50 pads in one bundle which makes it harder to store and handle. It is much easier to carry a 25 pad bundle verses trying to carry a 50 pad bundle and to store a 25 pad bundle where it is convenient to use.I am not happy with the change.The pads themselves are great, but the few cents saved in packaging makes it harder for older folks to use them.

  • How we keep the cost down on this great product
    I would echo what many others have said about the Greenies being heaven-sent. Our two chihuahuas get a mix of bitter-tasting herbs/supplements, and the Pill Pockets have proven to be the easist, most effective (and most fun!) way to get them to take their daily dose (powders/tinctures which I mix up with a little coconut oil, divide into pea-sized “pills” and freeze). Our dogs like the Pill Pockets so much we use them as training treats! They’re kind of pricey, but I use them in a way that not only works better for our small dogs, it’s much less expensive! :o)When I first tried to give the pills in whole Pill Pockets, they were just too big for our 11-14 pound dogs to swallow without chewing (and discovering that there was yucky-tasting stuff inside, and spitting them out), so I needed to make them smaller and more “trustworthy”. So in addition to reducing the size (and cost!) as I’ll describe next, I also got them hooked on the treats by only giving small pieces of empty Pill Pocket a few times, until their suspicion abated.Now what I do is divide each (large) Pill Pocket into 4 quarters, and flatten a piece out into a concave oval on my palm with my thumb (they’re about the consistency of play-doh or clay, and very maleable). Then I fold/smoosh/seal it around the pill, being careful not to get the scent/taste of the pill onto the outside of the Greenie. Before offering the Pill Pocket, I divide one of the other quarters into pea-sized treats. After a big build-up (“Who… would like… a… SPECIAL TREAT!!”),I give them each one of the little pill-less treats (after a simple command like “sit” or “stay”–giving it as part of a training situation, followed by lots of praise, seems to get them even more enthusiastic about getting the treat)that they won’t stop to inspect or even chew it). Then I give them the treat with the pill inside, and they’re so excited, they don’t stop to inspect or even chew it. They wolf it down so fast they obviously have no idea it has their nasty-tasting supplements in it (MSM, Dogzymes Ultimate and Verm-X for immune system enhancement and parasite prevention). I follow up with some other less expensive, but well-liked treats. If you have larger pills, or larger dogs, you might only be able to cut the PillPocket into 2-3 pieces, but then you’re still cutting the cost by 2-3 times as well (and possibly making it easier for your dog to swallow without finding the pill).One note that may or may not be relevent to your situation–I wanted to save time, so made up a batch of the Greenie-wrapped pills to keep in the frige. Unfortunately, the flavor/scent of the herbs/supplements apparently leeched into the Greenie layer, and the dogs didn’t want anything to do with them. So now I just make them on the spot–it only takes a few moments, and I use the time to call the dogs and tell them about how tasty it’s going to be, etc., and it’s just become part of the treat ritual. :o)Additional FYI use for anxious dogs/cats: I also use pill pockets with L-Theanine L-Theanine 180C as a substitute for Composure for Medium and Large Dogs, 60 Soft Chews as a natural calming aid for the dogs when they will be alone all day, having company, going to the vet, etc. L-Theanine is only one of the 3 active ingredients in Composure, but it seems to do the trick and “take the edge off” for our excitable chihuahuas. I just squish the contents of the capsule into a flattened pill pocket, work it with my fingers until it’s completely blended, then divide it into individual doses, which I store in the frige. I strongly recommend that you do your own research about dosage–Composure’s manufacturer, Vetri-Science, has detailed weight/dosage instructions on their website, from which I derived the dosage that I use. L-theanine is almost tasteless, it just needs a “dosing vehicle” because it’s a powder, and the capsules for humans have way too much in them for my dogs (and I don’t want to put it in their food because one might eat it all, or the cats might get it, etc.)I’ve only used the chicken flavor (our dogs loved it so why mess with success?), and this is my first time ordering directly from Amazon. I’ve bought them at the pet store (much more expensive) and an Amazon marketplace vendor (much, MUCH more expensive, as it turned out–I thought I was getting six 9.6 oz packages for 26.59 including shipping, but received six 1.6 oz packages, totaling 9.6 oz, instead–I’m awaiting a refund, and ordering these directly from Amazon at a great price instead!).
  • Absolutely fantastic but with one slightly humorous problem
    The pill pockets are nerve and fresh and soft enough to. mold around the pill perfectly so the puppers takes it right down. However, I don’t know what kind of pet-crack is in these things because it’s becoming a problem in my house. At pill time both dogs and both cats come running and screaming, excited to get their dose. The problem is, only one dog is on meds. The other three just smelled them and after a taste, and now completely addicted to their daily treat. So, when my dog no longer needs the needs I’ll have the choice of continuing to buy these forever to make them happy or try to break the four of them off of their supply. I think for my own sanity I will have to keep buying them, even if I go broke feeding their habit. The pockets are pretty big so you can easily use half per pill (she gets a standard sized capsule). The ingredients show a decent amount of protein in them and the quality is nice.

    Our dog has two daily meds he has to take as well as occasionally another one (for anxiety). He is pretty good about taking them every morning however he was starting to get a little smart and he no longer liked them covered in dog safe PB. Deli meat and hot dogs are okay for the occasional meds but I didn’t want to give him things too high in sodium for daily meds.I never tried these pill pockets before but has heard good things from others who used them for their dogs.They have worked great! They are so easy to use and som times I can get two pills in one pocket so it saves $$ haha!Additionally, my dog has GI issues and… no diarrhea or stomach issues with taking these! Wooohooo! That’s a big plus for us. It’s nice that they have a non chicken flavor option for those who have pups with chicken allergies or sensitivities.I think the price is pretty great for how long they last for us. We can usually get about a month and a half out of a bag.

    My two pugs LOVE these chews–they always seem fresh and soft and very chewable–I was using them as a “bedtime treat” every night for the dogs to get them to go out for potty time and then head right for bed, where they waited eagerly for their rewards. Each would gobble down his own treat then look to see if the other pug had dropped any crumbs he could steal! Trouble is, they would be hyper for the next thirty minutes, running and jumping in and out of bed and wrestling, as if they had just eaten sugar. So I finally checked the ingredients listed on the package: Chicken, sweet potato, glycerin, sugar, sorbitol, salt, potassium sorbate. Not only is sugar added, but sweet potato and sorbitol both contain sugar. No wonder they love it so much! As a result, this is no longer to be their bedtime snack–I will use them as a treat earlier in the day and only when they have been very good. I should have read the ingredients earlier, I know, but I only became suspicious after I noticed the hyperactivity. I also plan to follow the recommendations of some other reviewers about cutting them into smaller pieces so they don’t eat so much sugar all at once. They must taste wonderful, judging by how much my dogs love them, but now I know it is the sugar they love, which isn’t all that good for them.

    I try to give my pup food/treats with quality/healthy ingredients as much as possible. My dog dislikes peanut butter so I have been looking for a healthy alternative for a protein packed treat. I tried him on chicken jerky and he loved it. I have been looking for good quality chicken jerky ever since because he loves them. My pup is a small/medium sized dog (only 30lbs) but he devours these. They are larger in size , but you can tell that they were cut from real chicken breasts. They are still thin enough for my pup to enjoy. Probably takes him about 5 minutes to finish a whole treat. I’ve tried about 5 different brands and this one stands out by far. My pup even prefers these over other brands now that he has had them-he has literally turned away from eating other brands of jerky now so I just stopped buying every other brand.     I’d give these 4.7 stars. They are pretty absorbent, and certainly up to the task. Size is good for our 14 year old Pomeranian. The velcro like strap to hold them on does its job well, so they’re secure when applied properly. Our little buddy doesn’t really like wearing them and walks a little sideways for a while after we put one on, but he settles down about it after a few minutes. They are easy to put on and do a good job of catching whatever needs to be caught. The wrap set up is much easier than anything that would need to go on over his legs. He was surrendered to a kill shelter in the south so the organization I foster with here in NY found him and took him right away. I’ve had him about a month now while we continue to search for his forever home. He is a wonderful little dude and has no idea he has special needs. He is actually more mobile than you’d think given that he has paralysis in his lower spine region. He can stand on the back legs for a little bit at a time and when he gets tired he scoots himself around. When we go outside for a walk he uses his wheelchair and turns into a speed racer keeping up with my big dog. Due to the location of the paralysis he can’t feel when he needs to go potty and that’s where these belly bands come in.When I first got him he came with another brand of belly bands that said size small but they could wrap around my little guy too much that you couldn’t secure it properly. He is about 7 lbs with long thin legs like a Chihuahua and a slightly longer body like the hot dog dogs (Dachshund). Turns out he needed a size XS to fit properly. Once I started using these on him they fit perfectly. They really absorb the urine and he can pee a couple times in the same one and we have never had any leaks. If I’m home and I can tell he has peed I change him right away so he isn’t sitting in urine but if I leave the house for a couple hours I know he is covered and the belly bands will hold up until I return home to change him (these have a color changing strip to let you know there is pee but the little guy is tiny and low to the ground so I’d only see the strip change colors when I pick him up so I wouldn’t call that feature super helpful in my particular case).My little guy also needs to wear a doggie diaper because, again, he can not feel when he goes potty and I don’t really want poop wherever he is walking/laying. So I use these belly bands first and then put a doggie diaper over to catch the poop and the combination has been what works best for us.I’ve tried different doggie diaper brands too and for us, since he is so small with a thin tail, the Wee Wee brand diapers worked best because the tail hole was fitted and not just a huge opening. We discovered that issue with one brand and I left a review on that product for other IVDD doggie moms because the tail hole on a size small diaper was so big it defeated the purpose of my little guy wearing the diaper in the first place since poop fell right out.Anyway,To all the IVDD doggie moms out there..I know it’s extra work to love and care for our special needs babies and just searching for all the right products is daunting but hang in there. Once you find what works for you guys your fur baby will be happy too bc mommy won’t be frustrated with tabs not sticking or diapers/bands falling off.Now I have recently switched him over to reusable belly bands and diapers with disposable incontinence pads in them since it looks like he could be with me a while but I keep an extra package of these in the house incase I need them.

    This was a game changer for us–and I’m not one to typically get hyperbolically enthusiastic or even leave a lot of reviews.My fourteen-year-old PomChi mutt has been on prednisone for the past two months, and has to pee constantly. He was never trained to use pee pads reliably, so I was trying reusable belly bands with a maxi-pad. But he’s got a little Daschund, too, and if you have a long dog, you might know how easily they can wiggle out of belly bands.These are incredible for multiple reasons. First, they stay on–even with his “long dog” shape. Second, they are super absorbent. He’s not gone through one overnight ever in the past month plus, despite drinking like a gallon of water before bed. Third, the price of about 35 cents max for one of these on S&S, which reliably absorbs all wetness, versus a large pee pad, which average at least 80 cents, which only works if your dog is well-trained to them, means it is that much less of a headache when your dog is already ailing. And I’m surprised that they’re this affordable given that they use some sort of velcro that can refasten and adjust–and you can reuse them if they haven’t gotten wet or otherwise gnarly. And in the last sixty days or so, only one has come unstuck (and I think that was because I didn’t fasten it quite tight enough: aim for two fingers between the skin and the belly band, no more and no less).Every morning I take a wet paper towel and wipe him off, then go in with a wet wipe–something I really think any responsible pet owner who uses something like this MUST do.     I am a big fan of Blue Buffalo because it doesn’t have all the additives that other dog food has. Its very good quality and is safe for gastro intestional issues. I personally haven’t tasted this lol but my dog loves this so I assume it tastes good.
