What Customers Say:

  • Healthier Version of Jerky
Good flavor and feels fulling, typical jerky usually has a lot of sodium and this doesn’t which is great. I will say the only con is that it’s quite pricey for the amount of pieces you get per bag.
  • Yuk disgust gross
Most foul tasting edible product I’ve ever had. Disgusting disgusting disgusting! After the sharks enjoyed it on TV and after all the hype and anticipation of waiting for it , I just was so upset how bad the taste is I literally was in tears then so pissed I threw the bag across the room. DONT BUY! TO GROSS! If I could give it minus stars I would
  • Amazing
Unbelievably delicious!! Wow! I am addicted! Exactly the right seasoning, salty-ness and flavor. The texture is exactly like regular jerky but with all the goodness of natural healthy eating. I seriously don’t understand why everyone didn’t give it 5 stars??! Will definitely be a shelf staple in my house.. And I’m not even a snacker
  • Really good, but…
So I randomly came across these on a trip at a random store and really liked it, came home and looked it up, found it on here for a fraction of the price I paid at the store. Ordered it a few times in different flavors, enjoyed it, the texture is good, the flavor is good, the only thing I can think of with some of the bad reviews on here is that they got old/stale stock, or were expecting it to be more meat-like than it was ever gonna be. I actually like these more than beef jerky for a lot of reasons.HOWEVER. As I was finishing off my….8th? pack of it after ordering several times over the last 2 months, I noticed the Prop 65 warning that the product contains cadmium and is a potential health risk, on the back of the package. Prop 65 can overreact as far as safety thresholds, but I looked it up and shiitake mushrooms are known to contain more than the acceptable amount of cadmium per serving (which is admittedly a pretty low threshold), and prior to this my consumption of shiitake mushrooms was minimal, a few here and there every once in a while sliced up in certain dishes. Delicious product, but eating a ton of them all the time feels like it’s riskier than it’s worth. Might still get them as an occasional thing, like I said prop 65 errs on the side of extreme caution, but not reaching for them as a snack often or eating a whole package in a day. I had the toxicity of cadmium drilled into me over art products, lol.
  • Hard to chew
These are usually nice and soft and easy to chew. This batch of 3 bags were extremely hard and had a slight burnt taste to them like they were cooked or dried out too long. Quite dissapointing cause I’ve always been a huge fan. Not so much anymore.
  • Pan’s, You Had Me at Applewood.
???????????????????? Officially Obsessed: Someone Hand Me a Mic, I’m Ready to Be the Face of Pan’s Mushroom Jerky ????????Okay pause for dramatic effect… WHO gave shiitake mushrooms permission to taste like smoky, savory, soul-satisfying BEEF JERKY?Let me be specific: I have been absolutely devouring the Applewood BBQ flavor like it’s my full-time job. I mowed half my yard with one hand while snacking on it like a feral goddess in a vegan fever dream. These chewy little shrooms are smoky, rich, and hit that sweet-spicy BBQ note so hard I forgot I was plant-based.But wait—there’s more. The Salt & Pepper, Zesty Thai, and Original? ALL fire. Every single one slaps with its own vibe. Whether you want bold heat, earthy richness, or a clean umami hit, Pan’s has a mushroom jerky for your mood, your moon phase, or your emotional breakdown in the pantry at 2 AM.I’m vegan. I’ve tried all the sad cardboard snacks out there. These are different. They’re legit. They’re chewy, savory, and feel like jerky without the post-snack guilt or that weird “what’s this texture?” moment.Dear Pan’s: if you’re looking for someone to scream about mushroom jerky from a mountaintop (or a lawn mower) I volunteer as tribute. I will wear a cape. I will throw bags into crowds like Oprah. I will start a mushroom movement.Vegan. Mushrooms. Jerky. That’s it. That’s the magic. Please never stop making these. I love you. ????❤️
  • Not for Me
I saw the episode of Shark Tank with this pitch and based on how they reacted I bought a bag of each flavor. It tastes like I’d imagine a bike tire would and feels like chewing on the same thing. Absolutely not what I was hoping for (and I love mushrooms). Be warned, it tastes and feels absolutely nothing like beef jerky. Blegh
  • Should not be called Jerky
Sorry, but these are nothing more than favored dried mushrooms. They have no jerky taste or texture. It would be like calling a dried apricot with flavoring salt on it Jerky. It is not anything close to jerky (other than the name).I read a review on another website and was fooled into buying this pack. I tried. I wanted to love it. It is bad!I wish beyond beef would bring their Jerky back. It was 90% there (taste and texture).

  • Love these jerky sticks!
Agro jerky has been one of my go-to elevensies (late morning snacks) for a while. Always like the flavor, bright, a bit salty, a bit spicy, clean after-taste, And the good nutrition and low sugar make it a perfect treat for me. Now I love love love these sticks. Great texture and more chewiness, no crumbs or crumbles, and easy to stick in my bag when I’m on the go. Now how about that caffeinated flavor in sticks?
  • Tasty and high protein
I tried these vegan jerky sticks after a workmate recommended them, and I really enjoyed them. The smoky BBQ taste and chewy texture were satisfying, and it is a great plant based protein snack I would definitely buy again.
  • Flavor is better than the consistency
Tasty meatless jerky stick. The flavor is good, consistency is ok
  • Good for on-the-move protein
This is an interesting product. It’s like a meat stick, except completely plant-based (which is good if you’re trying to eat less meat). The sticks come in a larger, attractively designed package. The sticks themselves have a good macronutrient profile, with lots of protein–10g–terrific on the go. They have a satisfying snap and a good amount of moisture, somewhat sweet and savory at the same time. They’re a tasty treat, and I think I’ll keep them in my rotation to mix it whenever I’m in the mood for a meat stick. The husband is willing to eat them, so that’s how i know they’re good.
  • Texture was too dry for my preference
The flavor was okay, but the texture was a bit off – they were very dry. Okay for a hike or in a pinch, but would not be my go to.
  • Weak
Meh. I found the texture to be weak. A good bite, but then pasty not chewy. If only it was as strong as the graphic identity! The flavor was decent, but too sweet for my taste; but I have that complaint of 95% of vegan jerky.
  • Really good!
I think these are excellent, they taste really good and the texture is softer than conventional animal jerky which I do like! I have sensitive teeth and this product does not bother them like animal jerky.I’ve been vegan for a very long time and I’ve tried probably every plant based jerky I’ve had access to; this one is definitely my favorite. I got it in my vegan snack box and had to come here and order more. I will definitely be a repeat customer. The teriyaki is sweet but I don’t think overly sweet. It smells nice. I think the price is good compared to similar vegan jerky products.
  • Tastes great!
This stuff is soooo good! So glad I found it!

Bob’s Red Mill TVP, 12oz (Pack of 4) – Vegan, Made in USA, Unflavored, Kosher

Bob

Price: $24.30

What Customers Say:

  • Optimized Food
I’m not a vegetarian. However, the shelf-life (indefinite), nutrition (complete protein), macros (0 fat, 9 carb, 4 fiber, and 13 protein), ease of preparation (add boiling water for 5 mins and fry, or toss it in a stew), neutral flavor (it just soaks up whatever you toss it with), and extremely reasonable price (it’s a pack of 4 for ~5k calories for<20 dollars) all combine to make TVP the most optimized singular food product I've ever seen in my life.Add in the fact it's sustainable and vegetarian as just a bonus. This might not be the only brand out there, but it delivered exactly what I hoped it would, and frankly, I didn't read the description carefully and got *more* than I expected. Which was great, it's what caused me to come to write this review.5 stars.
  • Perfect Vegan Protein Staple!
Bob’s Red Mill TVP is an absolute must-have for any vegan kitchen, offering incredible versatility and quality in this convenient 4-pack! The unflavored, high-protein texture makes it perfect for countless recipes, from tacos to chili, and its kosher, USA-made certification ensures top-notch reliability.
  • Yummy, versatile & highly nutritious.
This has a light taste, almost nutty. It takes on the flavor of whatever you cook it in. I sometimes I eat it straight, as a snack. It’s very crunchy, and provides high quality protein. I’ve also added it to oatmeal, with extra water, to up the nutrition. It has a chewy texture when liquid is added, so you can use it in soups or chili’s as you would use chicken.
  • The #1 best for texture, ease in making & flavor
Absolutely a pantry staple for my family! I steer away from red meat as much as I can & use this tvp for recipes calling for ground beef. Excellent in sloppy joes, tacos, (hamburger style) hot dishes, soups & much more! I’ve tried several brands and Bob’s Red Mill is the best for texture, ease of cooking & taste. I love this product & recommend completely!
  • Wow! This is good TVP
Wow, what a difference between this TVP and another far cheaper brand of TVP I bought earlier. This stuff even SMELLS GOOD when rehydrated, and looks like ground turkey, and the taste is so much better.I’m definitely sticking with this brand.
  • Great price
This is a pretty good price for a package. The size of TVP. You’re not going to get a lot of variation for TVP, but it’s a really nice alternative that’s plant-based to things like ground beef and sausage.
  • Great product at a good price just a little small on the granules
Bob’s TvP is the one I always go to when I want to make a meat type of sauce. The taste and consistency are good. The only problem is there are a lot of really small crumbles pieces in there that go right through the smallest holes in the strainer so a lot of it does go down the drain, but it’s still much less expensive than other companies texture, vegetable protein
  • Excellent
This is a great product that helps you stretch your meat budget and use less meat overall while still getting protein . It takes on the flavors of the dish. Great to fill out soups, stews, or casseroles. Nobody knows half the taco meal was really TVP.

What Customers Say:

  • I seriously love these to pieces, my partner did not.. more for me i guess 😛
I think this is an item for a specific pallet, my partner didnt care for these mostly due to dryness and texture if i understood correctly. I, on the other hand, was head over heels and ashamedly devoured the box in the course of a few days. I personally loved the texture and flavors and didn’t think they were too dry or underseasoned (except maybe the original? Not inedible but also not my fave of the bunch) but I can see how this might not be a favorite product of others because back when i was still able to eat meat (blasted alpha-gal and its enzyme alterations or whatever that stupid little tick bite did) i was one of those really weird annoying people that needed everything basically burnt to a crisp and/or drier than the sahara in order to like it at all. The size and packaging is something of a hassle- where a few other reviews mentioning a mountain of wrappers were not kidding but outside of that I don’t really have any complaints myself and thought this was a decent treat for the money and very very happy we tried it. Wasn’t sure if I should’ve given 4 stars because of my partner really not caring for them but that just meant it just ended up being more for me and if I could give more than 5 stars I definitely would. This hit the slimjim/beef jerky craving in a perfectly satisfying way for me and I’m looking forward to ordering more of these hopefully in the near future and checking out the other beanstalk snack stick flavors I saw on here (I believe there were salami and chorizo) plus it looked like they have actual full slimjim sized sticks instead of battling the packaging (or judt use a scissors like a civilized person) on these mini ones even if they don’t come in or offer flavor variety packs/bundles like they did for this one.
  • Ignore the naysayers. Read this.
I keep coming back to Bean Stalk mini sticks because they scratch that “hearty snack” itch without the animal flesh. All three flavors have an umami-rich smokiness rather than a “fake meat” vibe.Texture-wise they land somewhere between Primal’s “Hot & Spicy” sticks and a slightly softer mushroom jerky: firm enough to satisfy a chew, but they can be dry (especially the “original”) so it’s best to chew them well or have a sip of liquid with them. Wolf them down too quickly and you’ll notice they wick moisture straight out of your throat. If you eat them slowly they’re delightful.Nutritionally, they’re light enough that I’ll polish off five or six during a late-night coding or writing session. Six amount is 130 calories–plenty of protein, negligible sugar and high in protein. Each smells a bit like BBQ sauce of various types. Flavor lingers doesn’t overwhelm and the aftertaste is pleasant; even omnivores will like them (though I note the non-vegan reviewer who insulted them with a “dog treat” jab–at least they’re not animal flesh). My one gripe is the packaging. Each tiny stick comes in its own plastic sleeve, six disappears fast, and it leaves a small mountain of wrappers. If Bean Stalk offered a bulk pouch or compostable film, I’d be a subscriber for life.Bottom line: crave-able, smoky vegan snack sticks that won’t fool you into thinking they’re meat—and don’t need to. Just be prepared for the wrapper avalanche.
  • Just don’t bother…
Arrived in a week, was supposed to be overnight. I tried to cancel because I needed them for a trip but cancelation wasn’t allowed, though they had not shipped. They arrived in a smashed box. These are hard. Somewhat chewy, excessively wrapped in plastic and they taste awful and smell worse. 3 flavors and all are gross. Not a single good thing to say about this product or experience. I’d pass on these. I’ll certainly never buy them again.
  • Bean Stalk Savory Vegan mini Snack Sticks
They weren’t as bad or as dry as others suggest. Size wise, some were a little longer than others. May as well make them as long as the box instead of the half pinky size. Count was over 30 each box. Flavor wasn’t that bad but they weren’t great either. I might buy again of they’re cheaper, like buy 2 get the 3rd free.
  • Good but not super flavorful
These are great to stick in a bag, hiking pack, or pocket for a quick snack. The texture is great and there are no off flavors. They are good for hiking because they aren’t super dry, so they don’t make me more thirsty. Some vegan jerky I have had has weird artificial or vitamin type of aftertaste. These don’t.Only downside is these are a little bit bland. Especially the “original” flavor is pretty bland. But I would rather have that than a weird off taste. My favorite is the smoked. Any husband likes the teriyaki. We are both ok with all three flavors. I’ll keep buying these for hiking or to have in my pocket when running errands all day or for travel. Each one is in its own package and it doesn’t leak or tear easily in a bag or pack.
  • Texture
Extremely dry, taste not great… Teriyaki was good. Ate them, it’s an acquired taste. May or may not purchase again.
  • Very good TEXTURE and very TASTY!! YUMMY!
We all love them all!! Yummy! The negative ppl complaining about size or value don’t read item details. I knew exactly what I was getting. ALL sticks and jerkys whether vegan or meat are pricey per ounce. No shocker here. They are great alternative and tasty. Size is great. One can satisfy craving , a cpl in the lunch box adds variety. My granddaughter loves them too. Chewy and yummy!! Smokey flavor is just right!
  • Very satisfied
Those snack sticks are tasting amazing and are very satisfying. The texture is flaky and chewy and all 3 flavors taste unique.I rate this at a high quality food snack item and will buy it again and again.

  • This stuff is good! I would never have believed it without trying it!
Never had vegan jerky but I eat a lot of regular beef and turkey jerky. This is very good stuff. The texture is less like old school beef jerky by Pemmican or Old Trapper but shares a chew and consistency of premise m brands like Krave and Jack Links jerky. The flavors I gather depends on personal taste. Some say the pepper flavor was the worst but to me it was the best and tasted the most like traditional peppered jerky I’ve had a hundred times in the past. The maple bacon was my second favorite and had a great flavor profile. The other yellow mustard bbq flavor was good too but tasted a little off to my taste buds. Yours may vary.If you don’t even think of it as meat jerky, it is still a super tasty snack and the fact that it is so close to some commercial jerky brands speaks to the work and quality of the product. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
  • The Best!
These are the best and tastiest vegan jerky I have eaten in a long while. I love all the flavors and the texture is amazing! I love this product and if you’re vegan like me, I highly recommend!
  • Too Expensive But Delicious
Love this stuff. By far the best vegan jerky I’ve ever had. Still, it’s way too expensive.
  • Delicious, BBQ Out of this World
I loved beef and turkey jerky before going vegan and have been trying to find a decent plant-based substitute for a while now. All of the other kinds I have tried are “eh” to horrid. My expectations were low going in… but Wow! Hands down best vegan jerky I have ever had. The Smoky Carolina BBQ is out of this world! Ate the whole bag in less than 5 minutes (probably much less)! Smoked Black Pepper is really good too (though a tiny bit salty). Going to be honest, Maple bacon wasn’t my favorite flavor combo, but it wasn’t bad. All three are still the best vegan jerky I’ve tried! Great texture, really good flavors, and filling! One reason its 4 out of 5 stars is because not all of the flavors were a home run for me (but I don’t like maple bacon donuts either : ) ). Waiting for the all BBQ 3-pack!
  • Worth it
All the flavors were delicious each one had its own unique flavor. The barbecue one is sweet and hint of sour the maple one sorry, maple, bacon, sweet, salty, and the pepper one kind of speaks on its own. They were all really good.
  • Impressed!
Wow, so good! I did watch a YouTube review who highly rated the Yellow bag one which is actually not good at all, I had to force myself to eat it. But the bacon flavored and the pepper one are awesome!
  • 1 out of 3
Didn’t care for the flavor of the bbq, at all. The bbq was overpowering. The pepper is ok (you must really like pepper to find this good as it’s pretty strong) and maple bacon is pretty good, & I would buy that one again, on its own (I do wish they made a plain old traditional teriyaki jerky). The consistency is soft & chewy (a bit softer than animal jerkey) and I also like the protein content.
  • Great tasting Jerky!
This is really good Jerky! My non-vegan kids liked it too! It’s not dry and has Great flavor.

What Customers Say:

  • Cooks fast and absorbs flavor
As good as TVP and better because it is Pea Protein Nice to have an alternative to soy granulesBest taco filling recipe I found is on Shane$ Simple website and this product works great for it!
  • Great “Meat” Alternative
I have been looking for good “meat alternative” options ever since my husband started his vegan journey. I am so happy I found this one. It comes dehydrated so at first the quantity seems small, but just follow the instructions and see this product change like magic. The instructions say to add 1.5 cups of water to 2 cups of product. That’s exactly what I did. I made sure to stir it so the product and water mixed well. I let it sit (about 15-20 minutes) while I cooked up an onions and tomatoes base for my dish. The product more than doubled in size in this time. I used it to prepare a vegan “ground beef” and bell peppers dish. It cooked like ground beef normally would, except with a much shorter cooking time. The finished dish looked similar to the one I would make with ground beef. The aroma, flavor and texture were all there without the “meat” tasting strange or rubbery. The product absorbed the spices really well and the dish turned out looking and tasting delicious. Am I switching over to a vegan diet? No, but I will happily eat this alongside my husband. If you are looking to add a “meat alternative” to your vegan options, and are in need of a product that cooks up easily and tastes great, I highly recommend this.
  • Lifelong vegan
As a lifelong vegan, I purchased this to have on hand for soups and stir fries. It is flavorless, but soaks up flavors quickly. Adds a chewy texture to dishes. A 5-10 minute soak before using seems adequate. It is supposed to have a decent protein content, so a good addition so far to my diet.
  • Clean Protein You Can Make It Into Anything!
This pea protein is a rare find.It really does tast/feel just like meat when mixed in other foods. I use it to make “pea-a-roni” macaroni and seasoning, maybe tomato sauce too. Add it to spaghetti and you can’t tell the difference, its like you’re eating spaghetti and meat.I even made it taste like crunchy bacon bits on a salad. The only draw back for ME is, it is FILLING. I don’t like having that “full” feeling because it bothers me at work. You don’t need much either. I only use 1/4 a cup in a meal, thta’s enough for me. It has a lot of protein packed in a small serving! So, be prepared to be filled-up after adding this, it is a clean protein and didn’t cause any inflammation to me or weird food sensitivuty issue, which I now get when eating store bought meats, which is why I had to get plant based proteins like this one.
  • Turned out well overall…
At first taste, I was definitely concerned about the texture, because after hydrating (using the directions on the package) it seemed a bit firm & unforgiving, yet it did nicely hold the flavor of the veggie broth I used to hydrate it. But, upon sautee with garlic, onions, and the natural sweat of cooked portobello mushrooms, the consistency turned out well. So, you may need to add a little more liquid than recommended. First time trying it today– used it to make tacos. Will probably get a total of 4 meals out of the 7.9oz bag– but, several servings per each meal (i.e. 4-6 tacos).
  • Great pantry staple – keep this on hand
I’ve rebought this product 4 times and will probably continue to do so. It is a great substitute for TVP, which is not as healthy since it is heavily based on soy. Good, neutral taste makes it a great base for many dishes. It is very versatile. I use it to make meatballs, patties, or just some nice crumbles to put on top of pasta or use as filling for tacos. All you have to do is adjust the seasoning. It browns nicely in the skillet. Healthy and tastes great.
  • Great veggie protein
Good soy-free product. I mix it with a few other ingredients to make veggie burgers that I’ve been happy with. It would be nice if it were a little cheaper.
  • Powdery, off-flavor, rubbery.
The taste is not good. It tastes like protein powder was mixed with water and dried — no specific technique or process to achieve a meat-like texture.Seems cheaply made. Disappointed. One star.

  • This works good in so many recipes.
Good meat alternative, so easy to use and store.I make a lot of soups and chilis although i’m not a vegetarian i am trying to cut back on red meat and well meat period. This really mixes, and imitates ground beef, or any type of meat really well. It soaks up the flavor in the recipe and looks like meat.
  • Excellent product, versatile, healthy, and rehydrates in boiling water within five minutes
Non-GMO, neutral flavor, and incredibly versatile.I was buying another soy product from Amazon, that I really liked, but it was much more expensive. I decided to try this one and I’m very happy I did.I use a quarter cup per serving and it rehydrates perfectly in boiling water in five minutes.I typically drain it, and sauté it in a tiny bit of olive oil for a few minutes until all the TVP pieces are browned. It’s wonderful in in anything which you would want to vegan protein. These can include chili, stir fries, Italian dishes, soups, and any hearty stew. The texture is wonderfully chewy, but not too chewy. Very satisfying.
  • Easy to cook
Great and delicious replacement for Spaghetti meat sauce! Just put it the night before in hot water , til it absorbs most of the water , than it is ready to cook !
  • Good product.
Sent me the wrong size. But it’s a great product nonetheless.

  • Great taste and easy to uae
This is a 10. I just tried it and will always buy it from now on. Boil or soak it, add any type of seasoning to it and it absorbs the flavor. My top is the beat.
  • High vegetarian protein
Awesome! Great texture. Just equal parts with water! Makes a great protein rich cereal too
  • Not a fan – but good if you are
I used these for the first time in a stew as a beef/lamb replacement. The pieces I got were smaller than stew sized chunks and more like marble, crumbled sausage sized. You can see them just south of the potatoes in the picture. I wouldn’t really call them chunks in that case. I added them to the stew without soaking first thinking they would absorb the broth and end up chewy and tasty which is pretty much what happened. They were still spongier than I would have liked, however. That’s probably a me problem and not the fault of the product. They are “neutral” flavored for the most part, but there is an odd after taste I can’t describe. It reminded me of soy curls but not as assertive. I guess it just wasn’t my favorite and if I had to make the stew again, I would have used seitan or left out any kind of meat substitute entirely. I still have the rest of the bag, so I’ll give them another try in something else. I could see them being a good sub for sausage on pizza or in biscuits and gravy. Overall, 3 stars for me but I could see them being a 5 star product if you love the flavor and texture.

What Customers Say:

  • miracle calorie cutting food
This stuff is a miracle food. Very low in calories, satiating, high in protein, and convenient. It’s always ready to go, just boil water and add it to a scoop of TVP and season, five minutes later it’s ready. I’ve been eating this to cut calories and it’s incredibly helpful.I typically add a packet of beef or bullion powder plus whatever spices fit the recipe, otherwise it is very bland. It has no flavor of it’s own, so make sure to spice it heavily! Great in pasta sauce, chili, Mexican, sloppy joes…
  • Great Value, Great Product
This makes a TON of food. A cup of the crumble expands when you rehydrate it. A bag this big will last a long time, and it’s great that it’s shelf-stable.It’s not seasoned and has a mild flavor. That makes it versatile since you can season it to suit whatever dish you’re making.Prep is an extremely simple 1:1 ratio of hot water to product. Just mix, let sit, and drain if needed. I prep it in a glass storage container, eliminating cleanup.I saw another review complaining about the serving size being a tablespoon, whereas comparable products do serving sizes of a cup or so. There are 16 tbsp in a cup, so do the math and figure out a comparable serving size shortcut if you’d like. This is way more protein-rich per serving than the alternatives I’ve eaten the past.
  • Tasty and healthy
This is a good product. Its a healthy and convenient way to get protein and fiber in your diet. I use it as a substitute for ground beef. It’s also great for stretching your ground beef
  • Good TVP, but don’t follow the Taco Filling Recipe as Instructed…
Very good TVP. However, if you plan on doing the Taco Recipe on the back, DO NOT FOLLOW SOME OF THE STEPS.First off, use TWO CUPS of Vegetable Stock, and DO NOT ADD THE TVP to the Mixture when bringing it to a boil.Instead, follow the first part of the recipe for sautéing the Onions and Garlic, and then when it says to add the stock, and TVP, SKIP THE TVP, and add 2 CUPS VEGETABLE STOCK, and the 1 pouch of Taco Seasoning, and bring all that to a boil, then remove from the heat, and THEN, add the 1 cup of TVP, and stir it in, and let sit for 10 minutes.Doing it this way, will let you end up with Taco Filling that looks just like actual Hamburger filling. If you do the recipe by following their directions, with only 1 cup of vegetable stock, and sautéing it, it makes you end up with an overcooked, dry lump of mush.
  • Healthier and Cheaper
I like that this doesn’t have tons of chemicals and sodium. Most of the store bought plant based meat is full of cholesterol and chemicals. Add a can of sloppy joe mix to this and it’s yummy! Also this bag will go a long way. I use corn masa to make tortillas and put this on top for a meal that costs a few dollars.
  • Caramel additive / awful rancid smell
I wish that I had read the one star reviews before ordering this. I was shocked to open the bag and see dark brown hard crumbs had no idea that caramel coloring was added. No thank you! But even worse, is there is a definite, rancid smell, Like the way flour or whole grains smell when they have not been stored properly and the product begins to spoil . do not waste your money on this.
  • Great product
This TVP has no added flavor. I use it to stretch ground meats and simply reconstitute it with the flavor bullion or broth I’d like. It makes a good hamburger, chicken, or turkey burger when eggs and flavorings are added to bind it together – makes good meatloaf too. The crumbles are uniformly small and so it blends into what ever burger your making very well.

NO COOKING DIRECTIONS! | 11 months til expiration | Re-sealable Plastic | Long & Awkward Packaging—NOTE: There’s NO DIRECTIONS on the package!—Bought = Apr ’17Expiration = 3-20-18So, you have less than a year to eat this (~ 11 months)—————————————————————————————————————————————–INGREDIENT: Defatted Soy Flour(This is the only thing listed on the sticker)—OTHER INFO (on sticker):- 53% protein- Caramel Color—NUTRITION INFO:- Serving Size = 1 tbsp- 40 cal / serving- Sodium = 1 mg- Carb = 3.5g | 1%- Fiber = 2 g | 8%- Sugar = 1.5 g- Protein = 6 g | 12%- 0 fat- 0 cholesterol* I prefer if it was actually “0 mg” sodium vs 1 mg.So, even though it says “0%” sodium, it’s NOT actually sodium-free…since this has 1 mg of sodium!* I wish they would increase the amount of Fiber & the amount of Protein (per serving)* I wish they would have included a photo of the BACK (clear, large, zoomable).—SUGARS: 1.5 gI wish it did NOT have sugar.Or if they did, they could use stevia or a natural sweetener (that’s also 0 calorie).—There’s a CLEAR part of the plastic, on the front. This is good, so you can easily & quickly see what’s inside. It’s convenient for knowing what exactly is stored in there.I’m visual, so I like to be able to SEE.———————————————————————————————————————————————-* POSSIBLE IMPROVEMENTS:They can improve the packaging by using a square shaped plastic, instead of the long one that they currently use.The long shape is awkward, especially for storing in the pantry or wherever you’d store it.Also, although it looks long…it’s actually only FILLED HALFWAY.Even if it was filled more to the top, a SQUARE shape would be more ideal & less awkward (making it easier to store).*** I’ve bought Hoosier Hill Farm before. So far, I like their stuff but there’s always room for improvement :)—A similar brand is “Augason Farms”.Augason Farms Beef Flavored Vegetarian Meat Substitute 37 oz #10 CanThese are similar except Augason comes in a can & this comes in a plastic. The plastic bag looks like it’s re-sealable, which is a good thing! It’s also notched on both ends, so that makes it easier to open (without needing scissors)…if that matters =)

  • Can got smaller; taste is still great
Cans in the past had 8 Franks in them… these newer small cans have only 6. But they haven’t changed the recipe as far as I can tell. Nuke ’em for 60 seconds to cook the insides completely, dust with flour/crushed Ritz crackers and fry in Olive oil. SO yum. I eat them as hot dogs, of course.. but also as a breakfast side, or crushed and cooked into my scrambled eggs.More flavor and better texture than plain vege-links, without the odd fashionable flavors found in the newer offerings by different companies. I love these classic Big Franks.
  • When you want a hot dog that’s healthier but tastes just like a hot dog!
When you want a hot dog that’s healthier but tastes just like a hot dog!I don’t know why, but sometimes I just have to have an old fashioned hot dog, even though it makes me feel guilty. Well, Linda Loma has the vegan answer and they are delicious! They cook, taste, look, and freeze just like regular hot dogs. And Linda Loma has been in business a long time, so they’re dependable. Enjoy!
  • Scrumptious!
Loma Linda Big Franks has got to be one of the oldest vegetarian franks out there and it’s the best one.I’ve been vegetarian my entire life so I can’t compare this to “meat products.”I like using this as is. Or I mash it with a fork and add it to different dishes. It’s great sauteed in a little garlic and onions and used as a filling for tacos, wraps, lasagna, sandwiches, etc.Sometimes, I boil it and mash and mix with a little yogurt, pickles, celery, spring onions, and mustard as a sandwich spread or cracker toppings. This is also a favorite in my siblings’ homes. It’s more of a treat rather than weekly item. The consistency of the product itself changes according to preparation. It also changes once you’ve frozen and then defrosted it.This is great as corndogs!
  • Tasty
My favorite vegetarian hotdogs I ordered these often and cook them many different ways from grilling, frying, in my air fryer, microwave and boiling. I never have an issue and it depends on the mood and what I’m having it with. Definitely recommend.
  • Great
    Great
  • Can and franks are half the size they use to be otherwise I would givbe 5 stars
I have been eating these for over 35 -40 years. They were pretty much the only thing vegan back when I was a kid. They were too expensive to eat regularly, but we at them on special occasions. These are my dads absolute favorite food in the world. He loved these and in honor of his birthday, I always eat these to remember and honor him. My kids were not raised vegan and love these, same with my husband, daughter and everyone else that has ever tried these. They do not taste like hot dogs or have the consistency of one, which is what I actually like! The lower fat ones are pretty good, but these are the best. You can eat these in so many ways. We use to eat them straight from the can as kid, but now I cook them They do taste different out of the can. YOu can chop these up and put in beans, eat as hotdogs in a bun and they are so so good. Most grocery stores no longer carry these, so I was happy to find them on Amazon. My 18-year-old son loves these for the amount of protein they provide and for the taste. I am down to two cans and he told me not to forget to order more. Soy however is not the best thing for you ( regardless of how much they say it is) but it is hard to find anything these days that is actually healthy as a meal with mixed ingredients and a lot healthier than hot dogs!.
  • My favorite meatless frank
I’ve been a vegetarian over 50 years and these are the tastiest meatless franks. I’ve tried almost every one on the market and these have the best flavor, texture, and size.
  • YUM

  • Good heathy food buy
    They are good.
  • Moist and tastes great
    Tastes great!
  • Great value
We love FriChik. It is great cut up in loafs or casseroles and is a great addition to pasta Alfredo’s, risottos, and rice dishes. These large cans are a great value. Can be smashed up to make a mock chicken salad.
  • Frichic vege food
    Excellent for vegetarian
  • Good Product, but all of the Cans Were Dented
I’ve been eating Fri Chik for many, many years, and love it’s versatility. Unfortunately, the price keeps going up and up. This shipment was great, and the price was decent. However, every single can was dented, making me wonder if I bought the meat substitute at a scratch and dent sale. The can pictured above was probably the most dented of the six cans, and I think it looks a little like the sorting hat from the Harry Potter movies. In the grand scheme of things, this isn’t a big deal, but it would be nice to receive cans in perfect condition.
  • Excellent value
Value for money:Although most cans seem to have been dented prior to shipping, seals were not compromised nor was there any rust. Shipping box was in no way damaged and the product had ample padding. Arrived very quickly!
  • Tasty
I grew up on this stuff! My husband fries it up with a little lemon juice and it’s perfect!
  • Delicia Vegana
