    The setting is easy and intuitive. The display is so vivid and smooth. Connecting to the WiFi is a breeze. No need to manually clean memory.     I have been an android user for many years. After having frustrations with Samsung tablets over the years, I decided to try an iPad. I get it now. The thing works. And it works well. No weird setting issues. No memory getting full because extra crap is loaded onto it with updates. No obscure settings I have to change. No stopping working later in its life because it runs out of memory from system garbage. You turn it on. It works. The apps all work (assuming the app creators take the time to make it iPad-friendly). The screen is really nice and plays videos (including sound) well. It is making me reconsider whether I might want to change to the Apple ecosystem for all my computing / smartphone needs.

    I got this iPad to replace a 7th generation model, so I’m familiar with iPads. So far, the display is noticeably nicer and more clear and vibrant. The charging goes more quickly on this model than it did with the older generation. Something that stands out to me is this iPad has uniform thickness throughout and doesn’t taper at the edges like my older one. I actually like this because it is easier to grip if you are picking it up without a case — it doesn’t slip out of my fingers.The part I didn’t like about this iPad is now behind me. When I used Quickstart to transfer things from my iPhone and old iPad, I must have inadvertently hit a button because the iPad got into “voice over” mode. I couldn’t shut it off because when I got the slider “shut off” screen, it would just read it to me rather than allow me to slide it off! No matter what I did, the thing kept speaking to me, everything from “hello” in every language, to my serial number, etc., etc. After being super frustrated for 15-30 minutes and thinking I would have to take it in for repair, I found an online video that gave me a series of volume up/down and power button pushes to reset the thing — it was a lifesaver! However, I then had to add my apps manually and redo the passwords because I could no longer finish the Quickstart. Apple should do a better job of not allowing “voice over” to happen during the startup process. All seems to be functioning well now, and I’m happy with it.

    Got this for my daughter, she likes to play a lot of different games and this was perfect for it, plenty of room for all her games, has no issues, battery life is great, love the screen size it’s perfect, it functions just like it should and she also loves the color as pink is her favorite color.

    Someone at Amazon deserves many kudos for getting this Fire HD 10 13th generation (2023 release) tablet to me before I left for Guatemala in the early morning hours of Thursday, February 8th. A few days before my trip, I went to download content on my Fire HD10 9th generation (2019 release) tablet but it would not start. I disassembled it and found the battery fully charged but the power distribution chip was toast! Finding no way to get it repaired locally, I ordered another one February 6th which, before I added it to my cart and before I completed my purchase, was promised overnight shipping. The new tablet was to arrive Wednesday, February 7th by 11am. After completing my purchase I noticed this had been changed to just sometime on February 7th. I looked at my orders around 3:30 pm February 7th and discovered arrival was now February 9th! I called customer service, gave them the what for, was transferred to Amazon shipping, gave them the what for also, even offered to drive down to the distribution center and pick it up myself! I was left with little hope of getting my new tablet before my trip. Then at 9 pm, a knock at my door, someone had come through!The Fire HD 10 13th generation (2023 release) has a vastly different x:y dimension than the 9th generation (2019 release). I had to order a new case but I like the new form factor better.The Fire HD 10 13th (2023 release) collects a lot more dirt in the groove between its glass front and plastic backing than did either my HD 10 9th generation (2019 release) or my HDX 7 before it. I’m constantly trying to get it out with my thumbnails!The power button is in the wrong place on the 13th generation (2023 release). 9 times out of 10 when I go to turn up the volume, I end up turning it off!”Do what you love, uninterrupted”…but only if you can find the secret to recharging faster than 5 to 9 hours! The Fire HD 10 13th generation says it’s native Amazon 9W charger, depending on starting battery level, takes ~5 hours to fully recharge. That’s way too long to wait if you’re wanting to use your tablet! Read on and I’ll tell you how to access 15W USB-C charging that only takes ~2 hours!I read Fire tablets with USB-C charging ports are capable of up to 15W charging. I did not want to buy a 15W charger (fire hazard) from one of the many 6 UPPERCASE CHARACTER named Chinese companies offering them here on Amazon. I have other charges from a prominent brand here on Amazon, some claiming PD 3.0, offering up to 5V4.8A, and rated up to 60W, that were taking anywhere from 5 to 9 hours. Why didn’t these work? What’s the secret to 15W Charging?Well, I found it! Fire tablets with USB-C charging ports, at least the 13th generation (2023 release) HD 10, use the PD PPS protocol to negotiate 15W charging. But why didn’t my existing name brand chargers provide 15W? There’s more detail on that below.You need a charger with PD 3.0 PPS or PD 3.1 (that’s guaranteed to have PPS) to get 15W charging. If a manufacturer claims PD 3.0 but fails to mention PPS in the product description, use the “Looking for specific info?” box to “Search in reviews, Q&A…” for “PPS”. You need at least 3A in whatever PD PPS voltage output range contains 5V.Details:The Fire HD 10 uses an order of precedence when negotiating a charging solution with a charger, first attempting PD negotiation then ultimately dropping back to basic USB Type C charging when PD negotiation fails. Basic USB Type C charging power drops off dramatically during charging leading to 5 to 9 hour charging times whereas PD PPS power stays fairly close to 15W the entire time. 15W PD PPS charging should really only take ~2 hours from ~10% to full or you’ve been taken!Some 6 UPPERCASE CHARACTER named Chinese companies are offering 5V3A 15W USB-A chargers using a USB-A to USB-C cable with integrated 56 ohm resistor to emulate a USB-C to USB-C cable. Sorry, these may be able to provide the requisite 15W but USB PD is just not available from a USB-A charger port. Some 6 UPPERCASE CHARACTER named Chinese companies offer 5V3A 15W USB-C chargers using USB-C to USB-C cables that don’t offer USB PD protocol. I have a handful of older chargers of these types from a reputable charger manufacturer and one does provide more power initially (11.5W) than the native 9W Amazon charger but basic USB Type C charging starts at lower power than true USB PD charging and drops off rapidly. I’ve seen the Fire HD 10 reported anywhere from 5 to 9 hours until fully charged for these basic USB Type C chargers.USB Power Delivery (PD) 1.0 was released July, 2012. With the USB PD 1.0 you get six fixed power profiles for different device categories 5V2A, 12V1.5A, 12V3A, 12V5A, 20V,3A, and 20V5A.The USB Power Delivery 2.0 fast charging standard was released August, 2014. With the USB PD 2.0, you got (fixed) voltages 5V3A, 9V3A, 12V3A, 15V3A, and 20V5A.The USB Power Delivery 3.0 fast-charging standard was released November, 2015. USB PD 3.0 made functional improvements but did not present (voltage) differences compared to USB PD 2.0, you still got (fixed) voltages 5V3A, 9V3A, 12V3A, 15V3A, and 20V5A.The USB Power Delivery 3.0 PPS fast-charging standard was released February, 2017. This version adds a programmable power supply (PPS) that can realize voltage and current regulation using USB PD protocol output. BUT, this weird PD 1.0 negotiation doesn’t always succeed and, when it doesn’t, the Fire HD 10 drops back to 7W basic USB Type C charging reporting 7 hours to fully charge!I’m including pictures of the Fire HD 10 charging at 14.6W “43% • 1h:31 min until full” on a car charger (sorry, it was dark), the car charger supports PD3.0 36.00W PDO:4 where PDO:4 is 3.30-11.00V 3:00A, the PD3.0 45.00W PDO:4 charger that fails PD negotiation and drops back to 9W basic USB Type C charging, and the PD3.0 60W PDO:4 charger that sometimes negotiates PD 1.0 14W and other times drops back to 7W basic USB Type C charging.

    This tablet is massive!! Love the display and features!! I bought this primarily as a reading device for kindle but I’ve downloaded several of my most used apps and I may not be able to use those apps on my smaller phone now!! This is so much better!! Touch screen is fantastic and sensitive / once set up is complete I was able to personalize every setting to my vision handicap- larger font, color settings , brightness etc / love it !!Arrived on time and without issue / and partially charged enough to get all my set up done – first charge to 100% was shockingly fast !! Reading on this is seamless and again totally adjustable to the point I don’t need my reader glasses!! LOVE that I can access my Alexa from the tablet!! Even loaded the security cameras with no trouble at all!

  • Solid upgrade that reminds me why I stick with MacBooks
    I was a little nervous ordering an item like this on Amazon, but it arrived perfectly packaged and well protected — not a single scuff or loose seal. That gave me a lot of peace of mind right away.So far, I couldn’t be happier. I upgraded from my mid-2012 MacBook Pro, which I’ve had forever and technically still works (that’s actually why I went with MacBook again — the longevity speaks for itself). The difference is night and day. The M4 chip is fast and quiet, apps open instantly, and the 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display looks incredible. It’s also noticeably lighter but still feels solid and well built.The 16GB of unified memory handles multitasking smoothly, and the 256GB SSD is more than enough for my school and work files since most of what I do lives in the cloud anyway. Touch ID is a nice touch — super convenient — and the battery life easily lasts me through a full day.Overall, this MacBook Air feels like the perfect mix of power, reliability, and simplicity. If you’ve been holding onto an older model like I was, the upgrade is absolutely worth it.

    This is a perfect on the go and secondary computer with the MacOS operating system. First, I wouldn’t ever recommend Macs/Macbooks for gaming. That said it works perfectly for everything else I need a computer for. I having a gaming PC I use for strictly gaming and this Macbook is used for everything else I do such as video editing, browsing, Music production (very good for this), and other media related tasks. It was a fair price as I got it for $850 on the sale. I was considering this or the M4 10CPU 10GPU core Mac mini for around $500. But this sold me on it because its light and portable and still just as capable as that machine with its m4 10CPU 8GPU cores. Its slower yeah and slightly more expensive but its worth it to me as I can take this Macbook anywhere without needing a monitor or Mouse and keyboard. Its all right there! The screen is a beautiful signature liquid retina 13.6-inch 2560×1665 resolution screen. Latest M4 chip is very nice and snappy when using the operating system and very responsive and when connecting to a monitor such as my Samsung 4k 144hz monitor it uses the full resolution and Refresh rate (hz). It works very well as a desktop machine and Im sure for most modern monitors if you buy the appropriate USB-c cables such as USB-c to HDMI/Displayport and modest USB Hub.     It’s Apple, and you can expect a reliable MacBook. The 13′ Air is lightweight comparing to the 14′ pro version, slimmer by the screen thickness, which is great for traveling or carrying around your work place. Great battery life. If you only need light officing capability without storing large files, the base model is perfect.

    I had a 2014 Macbook Pro and although it still worked great was no longer getting updates. I also wanted to get a Mac that had the M processors but had decided that I wouldn’t go with a big screen like last time. I wanted something relatively light. I also wasn’t going to spend as much money as last time either. The Macbook Air M4 fit the bill perfectly. I’m using it now for this review. I bought it for $1,049 and I see it’s cheaper now but I still have no regrets.Pros:1) This thing is fast! I had built my latest PC with the best components and I’m still finding myself docking this and using it instead2) All of the creative software just seems to work better on this Mac.3) This is the perfect size for portability. I was a little concerned that the screen might be too small given my eyesight but it wasn’t a problem. Screen quality is good and I have no issues there.4) Battery life is very good. I’m usually not doing anything power-intensive when I’m just using it as a laptop but I can generally go about a day periodically using it and not have any issues.5) The keyboard is great – not too crowded and the backlighting is good.6) Finally, the base model has 16GB instead of 8GB. I don’t know why Apple insisted that 8GB was enough in 2025 – memory is pretty cheap and 16GB is pretty much the minimal you need now a days.Cons1) This is true for all modern macbooks, but you have to absolutely get what you need when you buy it. It’s not upgradeable. You can do some things like get a thuderbolt 4/5 ssd enclosure for storage but you have to nail down the amount of RAM you want. However, as I mentioned above the default RAM is 16 GB and that’s good enough for most people.2) The magsafe connector is great but it does seem to come off a little too easily. It’s a minor gripe at best.Overall just a great laptop – I’m very happy with it.

  • It’s good for what it is – a cheaper table for young kids
    I originally bought the Amazon fire HD 10 kids pro for just my 8 year old and bought the Amazon fire hd 8 kids pro for my 5 and 2 year olds as I was trying to be age appropriate but the smaller sized screens were problematic and they froze quite often. The amazon fire 10’s screen size is much bigger and it is faster so I returned the 8s and all kids have the Amazon fire 10s now. There are 4 different tablet designs – green, pink, a space blue, and lilo and stitch. I have all colors except lilo and stitch as this tablet is more expensive than the others and my kids aren’t stitch fans so it wasn’t worth it. Each tablet comes with a subscription to kids games for a year. My 8 year old really enjoyed the games but not enough for me to pay $5.99 a month to continue them when the subscription ended. The feature also had kid protection so that kids don’t download things they shouldn’t but I found some workarounds around that so it wasn’t that great a feature for me and my kids. These tablets are pretty expensive but end up being a really great deal during prime week. I bought some recently for $104 a tablet. They’re usually $189, $229 for Lilo and stitch.Some cons are:1) it doesn’t come with a cover on the front screen. I know, most don’t but I guess I figured it would considering it comes with a decorative back cover.2) it doesn’t hold much data in size. We find ourselves having to constantly delete items from the tablets to add more. We don’t have anything really on these tablets except for Netflix shows. No pictures, no games, so I feel like the size is too small.3) one of the tablets just stopped working at one point and had some sort of a virus. It kept freezing with weird pop ups. It was odd because my kids don’t access the internet so it just seemed like a weird glitch. I will say though that Amazon was pretty generous with their warranty policy and even though a decent amount of time had passed since we bought it, they sent a brand new tablet and didn’t require us to jump through a lot of hoops to get a new one.4) some of the items aren’t very user friendly, such as the brightness feature.Other thoughts:1) download speed is okay, but nothing near like what my iPhone is.2) the sound quality is pretty decent. We have to turn it down quite often because it takes over the house with competing “battle of the tablets” sounds.3) it has a handle on the table that can be folded down or pulled out and can be used as a stand. My kids rarely use this feature but I think it’s pretty functional.4) the color quality is decent for what this is. It’s not an iPad so you get what you pay for. We bought these because they were cheaper options because we needed 4 tablets that have some durability to them for when my kids inevitably throw/stomp on them.5) they are somewhat durable and have held up for a few years. One of the tablets was thrown and stepped on dozens of times and only has one crack on the screen. FYI, Amazon sells screen protectors. I’d definitely buy them.   • Second fire tablet, definitely worth it.
    This is the second fire tablet I’ve purchased for my daughter. I bought her first one in 2021 which still works. I bought this one as an upgrade as the other one is an 8inch and an older model. She so far loves this one, the case is cool and she loves the stand. It’s easy for her to navigate, the touch screen is very responsive, WiFi connectivity hasn’t had any issues so far. I’ve only encountered two issues so far, the first that the box came open, I don’t know if someone else returned it and I got it but nothing seemed wrong with it and my daughter was excited as soon as she saw it so we decided to keep it. Secondly, it’s turned off on her a few times already despite it having battery. Hopefully these don’t become bigger issues in the future.

    Amazing iPad pencil. I purchased this in January 2025, it is now November 2025. I have only charged this pencil with the cable twice in the almost whole entire year. It works excellent. It connects very well with my iPad. I tap the top of the pencil to turn it on and within 0.01 seconds, it’s already connected. You have to be humble if you wanna make it seem like the real apple pencil because it obviously has the charging input area. I use it for nursing school and it’s amazing for notes. I 100% recommend to save money.

    It’s fine for its price, but it does not have pen pressure. I had (wrongfully) assumed that any stylus I could buy in the big 2025 would have the basic functionality of pen pressure but I guess not. It was easy to turn on and connect and started working instantly, but if you’re thinking of buying this to draw or do graphic design of any kind, invest in a more expensive knock off or the real thing. It’s fine for taking notes if the pen pressure thing doesn’t bother you.

  • Awesome inexpensive tablet
    Fire tablets are great, inexpensive and very functional. Decent storage that can be expanded with a micro sd card. Been seeing and hearing a lot of negative things about Fire tables being locked to the Amazon ecosystem. Um, Apple and Samsung do the same thing but no one calls them out on it. For what I use it for, better than spending hundreds for an iPad or Samsung tablet, but that’s just my opinion.

    A bargain a $55. Ordered to replace a very old iPad for my wife. She uses it mostly as a reader (newspaper/books) and not much on the internet. It is slower than the iPad but cast about 1/6 the price. Easy to use/set up. Quality seems good so far. Screen is clear. Placed in a case to protect it.
  • Great tablet, great value (but a few features aren’t working on this newer one)
    I’ve used a Fire tablet for years and would not be without one. For the price they can’t be beaten imo. I thought my previous one had died so I immediately ordered its replacement and upgraded to the 64 gb memory. I also always add a memory card so I can download and keep movies, etc. with no worries. I keep all my Kindle books, over a thousand, downloaded on it of course, and much of the amazon music that I own. Also useful for watching Prime, Youtube, or other streaming videos. I also check my email, my Ring cameras, use Alexa (but see update below) including controlling my Wyze devices, and have several streaming and simple game apps on it. It’s a very versatile, durable little tablet for basic daily use. It does everything I need in a tablet, when the features are working correctly. I use my laptop for things requiring much keyboarding and for browsing the internet, but this tablet does that too.My older one came back to life after this one arrived but I decided to just keep both. This one is a newer generation, but I’m not a techie and can’t tell much difference in the two. (BUT SEE UPDATE BELOW.) I highly recommend the Fire tablets. At certain times of the year they are ridiculously inexpensive and are still a great value at regular price. UPDATE:I am having a problem using Alexa on this new tablet, a problem that my older one does not have. Although the settings are correct on both of them, for some unknown reason Alexa responds on this one with a keyboard for me to TYPE what I want her to do. I don’t want that! There is a microphone icon to tell it what to type, but I want Alexa to voice-respond (with the blue line at the bottom), as it does on my older Fire tablets and on my Echo that has a screen. I have repeatedly checked the settings and restarted the tablet but it will not voice-respond for Alexa. Also, it recognizes that I have an SD card installed but it nevertheless saves almost everything to its internal memory, although I have those settings correct, too. It’s already used half its internal memory and very little of the SD card. Therefore I’m reluctantly deducting a star.(These are still awesome tablets for the price. My older one just works better for accessing Alexa.)

    I like it?I owned a 9th Gen Amazon Fire 7 tablet which I traded in on this new Fire 8. The Fire 7 was a huge disappointment, and I found during the few times I used it I would just get frustrated, so it was more often just left at home, and finally tossed in a drawer and forgotten until I found out I could trade it in.However, I really didn’t want to keep taking my larger iPad Air on trips. Not only because of the size, but because they aren’t cheap and I was always worried about it getting damaged or stolen. So, I thought I would give the Fire tablet family one more chance. I wanted something smaller, much cheaper, and good enough that I wouldn’t want to toss it across the room with frustration.So, when Prime Days rolled around I decided to give this Fire tablet a chance. For under $60 with the trade in discount and the money from the old Fire 7 it certainly checked the box for ‘cheaper’ than my iPad Air (we are talking 1/10th the price). But, for the big issue – would it be ‘good enough’?Yes it is. The old Fire 7 was slow, glitchy, had terrible resolution, would just die sometimes, didn’t have the guts to easily retrieve emails, let alone stream videos, the internet browser was useless, and the apps were so slow, I just gave up downloading them, even simple games would lock up the tablet. And let’s not talk about battery life or charging times – both dismal on the Fire 7.The new Fire 8 is plenty fast, I took it on a short trip and found that I could easily get, answer, and organize my emails. I found the apps I needed for streaming – Paramount, Peacock, Disney, Hulu, HBO, PBS and of course, Prime, and the resolution, streaming and download times are just fine. I like that it is compatible with Alexa, I can easily check my security cameras while on the road with a screen that is good enough to see some detail, regulate the HVAC system, turn on and off lights, everything I use Alexa for while at home. Of course it is highly integrated into the Amazon ecosystem, but for me, that is OK. I have Amazon Prime, Kindle Unlimited (but there is a very good Libby app available as well), Amazon Music Unlimited and more, which all perform flawlessly on this tablet.The resolution, while certainly not iPad standard, is plenty good for watching movies and TV series. I don’t like watching movies on my phone, it is just too small, but the slightly larger screen size seems to make sense. Same with emails – they download quickly and I like the larger format for answering them. I really don’t like to read on the phone, but this Fire tablet seems to be a great size for reading, and has a decent blue light filter. The few word games I like to play on the road are decent, and unlike with the previous Fire tablet, don’t crash. But the biggest surprise is the Silk Browser, it is quite decent, plenty fast, and again, I like the larger screen over surfing the internet on my phone.Battery life is really good, along with charging time. And I like that it has a USB C charging port, so it matches the rest of my electronics, so fewer cords.A few little dings. The sound is just so-so. I rarely will use the speakers, as I normally use earbuds (which paired seamlessly), so it isn’t that big of a concern for me. 64GB storage is a bit small, but since you can expand that by using a MicroSD card, again, not a big issue. The screen is prone to fingerprinting, but a quality screen protector, which I would have purchased anyway, solved that.So, from someone who is very much an ‘Apple Girl’ I was pleasantly surprised with this small tablet. Great for traveling, fits into my small crossbody purse, is pretty light, and has done everything I wanted it to do. It will not get tossed into a drawer and forgotten like my previous Fire tablet, but will become a travel buddy. Is it as good as an iPad? Of course not. Is it ‘good enough’, and do I ‘like it’? The answer to both is, ‘surprisingly yes’.

    A solid tablet, durability wise. This one has lasted longer than any other tablet I purchased for my son. It does feel a bit lacking in how easy it is to configure and allow certain things, and the storage from the SD card slot is barely available for use so you’re primarily stuck with the on-board storage. It does not natively have Youtube/Youtube Kids on it, but you can allow specific videos to be saved into the library if the creator allows it.

    This was a Christmas gift for my child. First, the good… It’s a nice tablet! I love the way it’s built… With a sturdy, protective case, and a kickstand. It’s built well for little children.But… I wanted something on which I could install the apps my child enjoys using on my phone; and this operates only in the Amazon ecosystem. It offers a LOT of apps, videos, books and things, and that’s great… But I don’t see a way to install the apps I wanted to. I WANTED to install YouTube Kids, because there are certain YouTube channels my child likes to watch. But you can’t install apps on this tablet like that.Speaking of which… I’m also not happy about having to pay for a subscription to Amazon Kids+ to use this tablet! All I wanted was a tablet on which to install FREE apps! Money is tight right now. And I thought I was buying a TABLET and that was the only money out of my pocket… But no… You have to have a subscription to Amazon Kids+ to use it. AND I wanted my child to have ANONYMOUS access to some entertainment and games… But no… You have to link it to your own Amazon account, and start a subscription to Amazon Kids+. So be aware you’re not finished spending money on this when you order it.But why I’m giving it only one star… I can’t block the things I DON’T want my child to see without going to a lot of trouble to do it. Amazon Kids+ has a lot of videos! But on YOUTUBE Kids, when there are video creators that we don’t want our child to watch, we can block the video OR the entire channel… But on Amazon Kids, you have to block each video individually, one… at… a… time. And yesterday my child found on Amazon a particular video creator which we had blocked on YouTube, and started watching him… So I just spent nearly an hour trying to block everything by this particular creator, one video at a time! I wasn’t happy. But it gets worse:Because, since my child had already watched some of his videos, those videos are shown in the “Recent” section at the top of the page… And even though I spent an hour blocking it, it STILL APPEARS in the “Recent” section! …and I’m sitting here listening to it play right now as I’m writing this! (And yes, I’m going to step in and be a parent and stop it, but I’m making a point here.) I blocked it… I even went and searched that title SPECIFICALLY, to make sure it is blocked! Yet my child still has access to it! It’s at the TOP OF THE PAGE! So I’m going to have to KEEP saying “no”, and then contending with the crying. The whole point of blocking, is to remove the offending content from view, so you don’t HAVE TO argue over it. Also… If you do see something you don’t like… You can’t block a video FROM the corner menu while the video is playing… Which would be convenient. No, you have to go into the settings and search for it. And without trying to describe the entire process, let me just say, it’s tedious.Bottom line… Amazon does not WANT you to be in control of the content your child has access to. The pretense is that they are just unaware that it’s not very convenient… But the truth is that it’s difficult on purpose! Because ANYONE can see how to make it better! It’s made this way ON PURPOSE, and it’s obvious. We’re not that stupid, and neither are they. They know what they’re doing.This tablet could be AMAZING… But If I can’t find an easier way to control the available content on this tablet, I’m going to get rid of it.So far, I’m not happy with it.Update: after a month… I hate this thing. My child wants to watch YouTube… I found what looks like a GREAT app that allows me to choose what channels are available, and everything else is blocked… That’s perfect! But the free version is limited, so since the paid version isn’t too outrageous, I decided to subscribe to it… But I can’t complete the sign-up. It was a couple weeks ago so I can’t remember what it said, but it said something like, purchases weren’t enabled… So I looked to enable it – couldn’t find it… had to do a lot of Google searching to find out how to enable it – finally found it… It WAS enabled. So I’ve been dealing with the app’s limitations because I can’t complete a subscription.And just now… My child wants to play a new game… But the tablet is out of storage space… So I tried to Uninstall a game or two, to make space for the new one. I clicked “Clear storage”… And nothing happens. The button indicates that it’s been pressed, but nothing is cleared. I tried to find another way to clear old games, but I only see this one way, and it doesn’t seem to work. So I can’t install the new game. I’m so fed up with this thing. It’s the most difficult device I’ve ever dealt with.Update: I am livid. I thought a specific video creator was finally blocked because I haven’t seen it in a while. But now, nine months later, here it is again. And there’s nothing I can do to block it from the video itself. Once it’s been viewed once, it will stay in the previously viewed section even if you block it. I will be replacing this tablet with something I can control, as soon as I possibly can. I HATE this tablet. I am absolutely enraged at seeing this video that I consider harmful, popping up again! I’d rather have a regular android tablet, on which I can install YouTube Kids and some games.Update: 11 months… I… Hate… This… Thing. It has 11gb of storage… We figured out a workaround, when we want to download a new game, I delete what we added (like, an hour ago, and it’s already out of space). But now that’s not working… It says storage is full, but I can’t clear anything. I’ve been working for hours, even with the help of AI, trying to find a menu option to clear unwanted files but I’ve been going in circles. It’s late, I’m tired, and it’s still not fixed. And I realized it’s almost Christmas, and someone else might buy this thing if I don’t warn them.I will say, I love the durability of the thing… The battery life is still good after a year of use… But using it is infuriating.

    This review provides a list of my observations about the 21.4 inch (call it 22) Philips VA monitor 221V8LB. (Note: monitor sizes are measured *diagonally*, width and height are smaller.) But first let me explain why I got this monitor to replace my almost ten year old 27 inch HP IPS monitor 27wm. While the HP monitor was still fine, it had some superficial surface damage, visible under certain light, that annoyed me. And I decided I really wanted a smaller monitor to replace it. Cataract surgery, combined with one particularly problematic eye, has left me unable to focus at different distances. And progressive glasses are fine for driving a car or other vehicle, but not for much else. So I wear my reading glasses to view my monitor. And if the center of my 27 inch monitor was in maximum focus at about 12 inch, the corners really started getting far enough to get a bit fuzzy. In addition my eyes are very long, reducing my peripheral vision, so having the corners at a very large angle was awkward. A smaller size monitor, but of the same full HD resolution, like my laptop, seemed a good idea. And 22 inch seemed to be about the smallest they sell nowadays. (Also, while my laptop screen is a lot smaller at 13.25 inch, when I am traveling I do find that really too small to see easily.) The Philips was cheap, and worked out well in increasing my comfort. The list of my observations now follows.1) Power cable. The monitor comes with a relatively short power cable of about 5 ft; too short for me to pull the monitor towards me when I am sitting back in my chair. For comparison, the HP power cord was a bit over 6 ft. In addition, you cannot simply switch power cords, because the Philips comes with a highly unusual monitor power connector. So, if 5 ft is too short, you may need some sort of extension cord. I had one handy, but if you do not, factor in another $5 or whatever and the hassle of getting one. (I do not know how many people return the monitor because the cord is not long enough, but I suspect the manufacturer might be penny-wise and dollar-foolish.) (I initially measured the length as 54 inch and was planning to subtract a star, but 5 ft vs 6 ft seems a bit too small for that, though the nonstandard cable does not help.)2) Speakers. There are no speakers in this model, and the web page never claims there are. (But it also does not highlight that they are missing. Not smart, if you ask me. Think of all the hassle and expense of the user returning the product.) Apparently you need a model name ending in an A (for audio?) to get speakers. However, there *is* an aux port, unlike one review said. I found this aux port *very* convenient, as for unknown reasons the aux port on my docking station stopped working a long time ago. Now I could connect my aux stereo speakers plus woofer permanently to my monitor instead of awkwardly to my laptop itself. (Actually, I could do this also with my old monitor, but I never thought of it at all, and would have needed a HDMI cable instead of my VGA one. VGA does not do audio.) Note that analog aux is not going to be of the quality that digital HDMI could in principle provide. One reviewer complained that aux speakers are almost impossible to get nowadays. Well, as I write this, go to a big cheap department store near you and there they are for $13. I got these earlier for my spare old laptop and they work fine.3) HDMI cable. The reviews AI claimed that some users complained of not getting a HDMI cable. Well, I went over the most recent reviews as of Oct 14, 2025, and I found 9 reviews explicitly stating that the HDMI cable was there and only 3 saying it was not. I suspect that these 3 may have bought used “like new” monitors, though only one of the 3 said so explicitly. Unlike the power cord, the HDMI cable turned out to be long enough for me to duct it through the cable guide of my MOUNTUP stand. It is hard for me to measure it accurately in its convoluted path, but it seems to be about 55 inch.
  • About that 120 Hz — yep!
    Lots of people have shared that this is a very good monitor — plug and play, beautiful picture, etc. But just in case someone comes looking to see about that advertised 120 Hz refresh rate, I wanted to write that YES, IT DOES 120 Hz.I am using a mid-range graphics card (i.e., not even CLOSE to the top of the line) — an Nvidia GForce RTX 4060Ti. At first it seemed 120 Hz wasn’t available, but once I added a Custom Resolution to the Nvidia Control Panel, it worked just fine (see the pic).If you still have trouble getting that 120 Hz refresh rate, you can try the Custom Refresh Utility tool (search for it), which can convince Windows that yes, the monitor supports it.One nit about the monitor: Because of the curve of the back, the VESA mount is hard to use — a VESA plate won’t sit flat, so you’ll need longer screws to hold it in place. I would go so far as to say it’s not *really* a VESA mount, but it’s workable.
