What Customers Say:

  • Great Product
Solid router. Works well with my PfSense box I setup. I am using it as an access point, no fuss, it just works. Looks great and it’s fast, exactly what I wanted.
  • A Spectrum Internet Customer’s Point-Of-View
As A Spectrum Internet CustomerI had a Spectrum Advanced WiFi router that does 2G and 5G on the same WiFi network. There is not a way to split the networks in two. If you have a cell phone that is compatible with device steering and you use to connect your 2G devices to, you can call or chat with their Internet Repair support team to set up a feature on your cell phone that may allow the 2G devices to connect but it can be a hit or a miss and it’s too much of a hassle to keep calling/chatting to set this up with as the feature is enabled for only sixty minutes. If the 2G device is connected before the hour is over, it will remain connected but if it’s not, you’ll need to reach back out to try again and you’ll also need to reach back out for other new 2G devices only that don’t automatically connect to the 2G network. This is a major flaw for an “Advanced” WiFi router. Customers paying a monthly $5 fee to lease their routers should be able to either split the networks in two or leave them as a single network for band steering. Outside of this, the Spectrum routers are fine. However, it’s just better to get your own router. It would be great if they offered more advanced routers with more features such as VPN’s, hiding network SSID, splitting the 2G and 5G networks, guest network and more. I’d pay $5 more a month on top of the already $5 charge for this. This way customers can select which router they need for their home and still get customer support for it.As A New Customer For Echo Dot’sThis is the reason why I purchased my own router. I purchased four Echo Dot’s, 5th generation, ’22 release. All of them connected to the Spectrum WiFi router without issue and individually they operated great. However, the Echo Dot’s have a “multi-room audio” feature where you can play music all throughout your home. This was my entire reason for getting these in the first place. This feature was a hit or miss. Sometimes it would work but most of the time only one or two would work and trying to get them all re-paired so I could say, “Alexa, play Discover Weekly from Spotify everywhere,” was a huge inconvenience and took too much time. After going online and reviewing forums such as Quora and Reddit, I could see what the issue was. The Spectrum WiFi router would switch them between 2G and 5G based off of interference and signal strength throughout the day and if even just one Echo Dot was on a different network than the others, it would throw off the multi-room audio so that it wouldn’t work. So the hunt for a dual band router began.TP-Link AX1800 WiFi 6 Router (Archer AX21) ReviewThe TP-Link AX1800 Router has been amazing so far. It arrived on the same day that I ordered (Thank you Amazon and of course, most of all, the delivery drivers). When it first came in, the first thing I noticed was how ridiculously light it was which kind of made me nervous about the purchase. The router itself came very nicely packaged, nothing was damaged.I followed the instructions to the letter but the router was not showing any lights on there after plugging it in once the Internet modem came back online. I re-read the steps again and re-checked the power connections and tried unplugging from both ends but not luck. I honestly thought I got a dud. I looked on the back of the router and saw a button and pressed it in; all the lights began to show and I could begin the setup process.I use an iPhone and when I pulled up the TP-Link App to set up the router I couldn’t help but notice its low star rating so I opted not to download the app and instead login using the IP address (the instructions provide you with this information and how-to as well). This is my first time ever logging into a WiFi router without the use of a mobile app and I have to say, it is significantly better and heavily preferred. I was able to turn off TP-Link Smart Connect so that I could have two separate SSID’s for the 2G and 5G network. I could also see there was a whole new host of features that I did not have prior such as hiding your WiFi networks from neighbors and having a guest network.I also did a speed test and they all came back higher than normal and my computer noticeably moves faster when browsing the Internet and streaming video despite being roughly around the same speeds (before it was around 310mbps download/9mbps upload; now it is at around 360mbps/13mbps upload). Maybe the 50mbps DL and 4mbps UL makes a huge difference. I’m not entirely sure. I believe the difference really comes from the router provider a more stable/stronger connection than the Spectrum router. The signals itself are just healthier now.I also like that the TP-Link router has antennas, four of them to be exact, that you can see. The Spectrum routers don’t have these and if they do, they’re within the router itself. I believe routers with antennas that you can visibly see operate better and send stronger signals.Did This Resolve My Issue With The Echo Dot’s?It absolutely did. I re-connected all four Echo Dot’s to the 2G network, which was kind of a pain as well to do (but well worth the time and effort; it would’ve been significantly easier to do if I originally connected them to a dual band router in the first place) and ever since then I have had no issues with multi-room audio. Anytime I want to play music from all four Echo Dot’s at the same time, they all play without issue. Which is great because I plan on purchasing more for a more surround system environment.Final NotesIf you need a dual band WiFi router that is able to split the networks in two so that you can sign into them separately, this is it. And honestly, if you have a Spectrum router, this is a major upgrade for a fraction of the cost. Just make sure you keep it clean of dust, and keep it in a well-ventilated and cool area of the home and this will easily last you 2+ years. It saves you money and it works better. It’s honestly a no-brainer.There is also a common misconception with spotty/slow Internet speeds. The majority of signal issues do not come from cable lines (confirm with your ISP provider first though that the signal levels look healthy coming into and from your Internet modem) but come from the equipment itself (modem and/or router) or from the devices you are using (assuming it is only occurring on one or two devices). Which is why upgrading your WiFi router and/or Internet modem can resolve the issues.I honestly don’t have any issues with the Spectrum Internet modems. I think they’re fine. They all come pre-built, meaning, you can’t change any settings on them. Not a deal breaker for me. However, honestly, if I didn’t have a Landline service with them, I would’ve purchased my own modem as well and long-term wise I will definitely consider it. The Spectrum Internet equipment are fine for the majority of homes. However, there is no one size fits all and if you’re having issues with your equipment whether due to the lack of features available or signal issues (and confirmed with their Internet Repair team that there are no signal issues coming from the lines), this TP-Link router is an exceptional purchase.
  • Works great and fast!
Easy to set up, only took minutes. Simple, easy understand directions. Quality of it seems good. Picks up way out from my house, so the range is really good on it. Downloaded the app to use the features of it and to set up security features and such.
  • affordable, customizable, intuitive, great app, what’s not to like?
I would consider myself a novice when it comes to routers and networking. I can do simple tasks (network set up) adding removing devices..etc changing passwords etc. For the past few months, i have been on the fence about replacing my ISP provided router, so i took the plunge and orderd this model (archer ax21).my old netgear router (supplied by my ISP (charter spectrum) died back in november and I called customer service and they sent me a new “advanced wifi” router. that router was complete garbage, ISP’s don’t even let customers go in and modify their own home wi-fi networks. if you type the ip address for the router, it directs you to a page that says “login using the spectrum app”. well, their app only allows you to change the SSID name and password..NOTHING ELSE. very frustrating. ISP provided routers now combine the 2.5ghz and 5ghz bands, and many of my devices are older and ONLY use the 2.5 ghz band. so, natrually there were conflicts and frequent disconnects. I also own a accurite iris 5 and 1 weather station. in all my years of using a pc and wireless networks.. I have never seen or had a device that is so tempermental. I needed to be able to isolate the 2.5ghz and 5ghz bands so that i could assign specific devices to each band. the older things go on the 2.5ghz, and newer things like ipad, smart tv, xbox one..go on the 5ghz band.setting this up was very straight forward. simply power down your ISP modem, and reboot. wait for everything to reboot and ensure you have internet connectivity through the modem. then plug ethernet cable from back of modem into the WAN port on the Archer X21 router. then power up the router and wait for all the lights to turn green. takes about 1-3 minutes tops.you can set up either via APP (which is what i did), or you can set up using pc with ethernet cable.I have a chromebook, so it has no eithernet jack. i actually ordered one on amazon, it’s a usb to ethernet adapter. works like champ. but for most people you should be able to set up just using the app.. if you want to do more advanced things (dchp customizations, etc) i would set it up on the webpage through the ethernet connection.simply follow the instructions from the app, enter your new network name and new password and you will be good to go.the app shows each device connected on each network as well as real time uploads/downloads so you can see if there is a issue with a particular device. if you are having issues with devices disconnecting/reconnecting/slow speeds etc. i would suggest at the start that you DISABLE the 5ghz band. after you get everything connected and confirm that the devices are working, then go ahead and re-enable the 5ghz band. for some reason, (not sure why) on inital setup there can be conflicts.there are tons of options for this router, far to many to get into much detail for this review. go ahead and download the manual prior to purchase, so you can read up on what this router can/can’t do before you purchase.you can actually update the firmware over the air by hitting the update button, or you can speciify a certain time of day for the updates to be installed. a good rule of thumb would be set it to sometime after midnight that way, you will be asleep more than likely when the updates happen. out of the box, mine needed a firmware update. took less than 5 minutes.i’ve had/currently have other tp-link products (smart bulbs/cameras) and they all work as expected.the app is very intuitive and straight forward. i didn’t have to have any special settings from my ISP, i just plugged in the router, went through the setup, and everything connnected flawslessly on the FIRST attempt. no errors/timeouts etc that i was getting with my ISP supplied router.the router is sleek and has 4 antennas. my range is about the same as with my previous isp supplied router. currently have a linksys re6300 extender out here in the living room to boost the 5ghz band. my house isn’t that big but is very old. (its a single wide from early 70’s with A-Frame roof). so i think my signal loss has alot to do with the aluminum siding on my house. your range/results will obviously vary.I currently have 16 devices on my network and all are staying connected flawlessly and seem faster than with the ISP supplied router.there is also a option for guest network. I’m using that for guests and my accurite weather station.hoping this will help me troubleshoot the accurite when the inevitable disconnects start.also wanted to mention that the accurite iris 5-1 weather stations are full of problems. if your considering one, go with another brand. it’s not worth the headache.the only reason i took a star off was becase the antennas on the back of the router were wrapped in plastic that was hard to take off. other than that, i think this router is perfect. it’s affordable, has tons of options and doesn’t have performance issues that ISP supplied routers do. pick one up today, i’m sure glad I did.***update 9/24/24*** 1 year and 8 months later, router still performs PERFECTLY! no issues at all, adding static ip addresses to devices is very easy, and great connectivty. never had one single issue with this router. i have multiple devices across both bands (2.5ghz and 5ghz) and i haven’t had any problems, even my nightmare accurite weather station works perfectly. the key to that device, was connecting it to the 2.5ghz guest network by itself. may want to keep this in mind for devices that are giving you trouble, i have found by isolating troublesome devices, they tend to stay connected when connected by themselves. this router offers many options, lots of them i don’t even use. even after multiple power/interent outages, once power/service returns, everything reconnects in less than a minute. every tp link product ive ever owned has performed perfectly. great job tp-link!update 3/27/25*** so nice, i bought it twice! my nephew has moved in next door to assist me in caregiving for my 77 year old mother with dementia. they have charter spectrum service over there just like I do at my house.the charter spectrum supplied routers, continue to be complete trash. I needed to be able to assign security cameras and other devices to the 2.4GHZ network, and for some stupid reason, charter spectrum doesn’t allow you to do that with their equipment. not sure why but it is what it is. so i got another one of these routers 2nd hand. plugged it in, added to tether app, no problem. however, it would only stay connected for about 8-12 hours and then drop the connection. turned out, charter spectrums POS supplied modem was the issue, technician came out and replaced the modem. for some reason, if your router is set to FASTER bandwith speed, then charter spectrum modem will just randomly disconnect. looking around on some forums, i found that i could adjust the bandwith settings on the router. I changed the settings to 100mpbs (the speed tier plan on the account). that, in combination with the new modem seems to have worked. i never had this issue with the 1st router i set up at my house, and it’s the same ISP. very weird, but in the end, it all worked out.

What Customers Say:

  • Great Router
Our RS500 replaces a Netgear XR500 that is no longer supported. WiFi connections to the XR500 were also beginning to exhibit connection issues and performance degradation. These problems have cleaned up with the RS500, which has no trouble delivering our ISP’s 500Mbps up/down over WiFi and wired connections. Ping latency is 7ms with a wired connection and 9ms with a WiFi connection. Installation and setup was easy, and I preferred to use a web browser instead of the smartphone app. The RS500 supports 2.4Ghz, 5GHz and 6GHz WiFi channels, WiFi 7, and has a 2.5Gbps WAN port, one 2.5Gbps LAN port and three Gigabit LAN ports. One minor issue occurred during setup when it checked for a firmware update and reported that I had the latest firmware. After completing setup and signing in as admin, I found that the router firmware was not the most recent and needed an update. We’ve only been running the router for a few days now, but so far everything is stable and working well, with no hints of any functional or performance issues.I would definitely recommend the RS500, particularly at the currently available 25% discount price.
  • Overall great, just understand the physics of Wifi 7
Incredible router for the price. Just note that if you want Wifi 7 anything, just due to the physics of how that wavelength works you should not expect it to penetrate any walls. I am currently using the 6e and I am genuinely impressed. My download speed is definitely impacted from wifi 6 but latency is much better. This guy has pretty awesome range for stuff like the 2.5 ghz bands and penetrates a lot more than my tp-link routers. The routers ip point access is fairly simple and you can set it up without an app by clicking bottom of the screen which is a plus. There isnt a bunch of visual clutter inside and it integrated instantly with my pfsense server. The shape is nicer since I wanted to use this in a rack with a 3d printed housing. It doesnt get hot from what I have noticed and is completely silent. I took a gander looking at all the one stars that were on this device and from what I have seen is most people just don’t understand how a lot of these machines work or the capabilities of the bands they are using. Dont expect wifi 7 to go through walls ever. 6e will significantly struggle so if you need distance/walls, you should lower your settings for the network you are adding in the configs.
  • Easy to set up and works great fixing many internet issues I had
Bought this to replace the router I had for 10 years. If its not broke then you dont need to fix it or replace it is why I waited to buy a new router. Started to have issues with the old router. After some research and looking at reviews I chose this router.Instaltion was almost easy, I chose to do setup through the computer based on reviews. Had to refresh microsoft edge a couple times to finish set up. Easy other then thatHaving this router fixed alot of issues I thought was related to software. One example is a game I played would not display information in some windows. With this router I had no problems with the gameThe backward compatability, the two ghz ranges allows my older security cameras to connect to router. The range is good also. Live in an apartment and this router now covers entire apartment so I can use internet on any device in any room with barely any slowdowns.Even the app is pretty good. Combines other apps i use into one such as an app that shows whats on your network and speedtest. As well as all the othet functions you need.Over all great router so far.
  • Awesome Range and Speed
This replaced a 12 year old Netgear that still worked but couldn’t keep up with additional devices we added (2 smart TVs, 2 gaming systems, 3 laptops, 2 tablets, 2 phones, and a printer). I work from home so having quick, reliable Wi-Fi is a must. The speed is amazing compared to the 12-year old Netgear and we get excellent coverage throughout our 2-level house, plus about halfway across our 1-acre property. Impressive! The only issue so far is my Google Pixel phone loses connectivity occasionally. The setup was very easy. I considered a more expensive Netgear tri-band, but I’m finding this works well for us and it was only $109. I’d highly recommend it.
  • Have isp put modem in bridge mode if not double NAT problem!
Works well out the boxHassle free set up with clear instructions and a well made app. Good security and a free month vpn! Did wish it said how to set it up with a bridged modem. Other than that works great and can control everything from the app even turns access to WiFi on and off in the app! No more MAC address filtering so nice!
  • GREAT ROUTER!!
I live in a brick house and other routers can have problems. This one seems to do great and still get very fast performance. Very well worth every bit of money spent
  • NETGEAR RS500 Smart Purchase
Carrier: Xfinity – 1G download speed. I research everything so after buying a NETGEAR Nighthawk CM3000 MODEM it was time to upgrade my router. My pick was the NETGEAR Nighthawk RS500 Router and found I made a great choice. The afternoon I was setting it up I kept getting interrupted with text messages that I had to address. Yet going back into the NETGEAR app I could easily return to the setup sequence. Once installed my laptops and iPhone was showing 700-900+ Mbps at every location in my one-story house. Even the Blink cameras, which received 1 or 2 bars on the furthest ones from the old router were now getting full bars. In short, no lag time when streaming or surfing the internet. Another bonus is the design – slim with no external antennas – making it easy to place most anywhere your connection can reach. Highly recommend.

What Customers Say:

  • Worth Every $Cent$ !
I have owned a TP-Link Router for years. It still works perfectly. I recently switched to Fiber Optics and decided to upgrade. This is an outstanding router. The setup took about 1 minute after the new gateway was installed by Alta Fiber here in Reading, Ohio. I purposely moved the location of the wall mounted gateway so everything has been completed. This router is extremely fast and can carry up to 90 devices. We don’t have that many -BUT- with our tablets, smart phones, laptops, multiple 4K TV’s, WiFi audiophile systems, WiFi desktop PC, multiple WiFi Ring security cameras, WiFi stove, WiFi thermostat etc… WOW ! ! zero buffering, huge range, 6 adjustable antennas this router has everything except the third “band”. Our fiber optics comes in at just over 600mbps, this router handles it easily without any additional equipment. This is a 2 story home with a basement on a 1/4 acre. No problem! Our neighbors can “see” our router. Driving down the street a couple hundred feet my smart phone can “see” this router. For about $150 – just get this unit! You will be amazed!
  • Noticeably Increased My Wi-Fi Speeds
I was half expecting to return this, because I didn’t fully expect it to make much of a difference. But it was immediately apparent that our Wi-Fi Speeds were enhanced with this router. With my prior setup (including a Wi-Fi 6 router), I was getting roughly 300-400 Mbps on my Pixel 6a when testing in the same room as the router (on the 5 GHz band). With this new router, it usually tests between 1100 and 1400! I was pretty shocked at the difference. Upload speeds even increased a little bit, going from about 34 to 38 Mbps.Real-works differences aren’t amazing, but I think web pages are loading more quickly, and video game downloads happen more quickly. I don’t have any Wi-Fi 6 devices, which was partially why I wasn’t expecting a huge difference. But this router doesn’t utilize the 6 GHz band, which was another reason that I chose this one (not expecting to have any Wi-Fi 7 devices other than phones in the near future). Part of Wi-Fi 7 is the aggregation of all of the bands, which makes higher speeds possible.I was already using the tp-link tether app, and setup was pretty easy (though I had to go through all of my iot devices and re-add those, which was a bit annoying). There are no dead spots in my 2600-ish square feet home, even though the router is simply hanging on a wall behind the TV on the first floor (not in the center of the house, it hanging high on the wall).I’d say this is a no-brainer if you already need a new router and don’t care about the 6 GHz band. Even if you don’t need a new router, but want higher speeds, it is very compelling.
  • TP-Link BE9700 WiFi Router
Sometimes, it’s difficult to get your mind around the tech jargon and wifi routers and modems can be the worst. I tried to keep it simple and to just buy a newer model that provides some tech longevity. I asked my internet service provider for some makes and models they know works with their internet service and TP-Link was recommended. I wanted to buy a system where I could extend the wifi range and bought the Tri-Band BE 9700 Wifi 7 Router. Firstly, it is quite big so make sure you have a space to put it. The set up was very simple but it’s always best to download the manual before you buy to ensure you can understand the setup instructions before you commit the money. I have been running this router for a few weeks now and it works very well. No setup issues and, coupled with a TP-Link range extender, reaches all of my property. Very happy with the product from both an operation perspective and build quality. I certainly recommend the TP-Link BE9700.
  • Works as should.
Easy to install great Wi-Fi quality while using this device it functions as should it’s extremely reliable. I don’t lose Wi-Fi service when I use it. It’s easy to connect with great instructions that come with it. The only complaint I would have is that it’s not very attractive looking and it’s sort of bulky. If not for these two faults, I would’ve given it five stars.
  • Easy to set up with tec support.
I’m not technically savvy, so I called the help line and got Roezelle Ubalde. She was great. She walked me through the whole process of setting up my new router. I was up and running in no time. The Wifi speed is great and the signal strength is fantastic, no longer need to use wifi extenders. The router is compatible with my existing modem and all my streaming apps are faster than ever. If you are not technically savvy, I recommend you call for help and you will be amazed how easy it is to set up. Thanks again Roezella.
  • Good affordable WiFi 7 tri-band router.
Good wifi router. Three channels – 2.5, 5, and 6 ghz. Allows for both regular network, guest network, and separate IoT network. Cell phone app good for basic configuration, but you need to log into the router itself to do more detailed settings, like change SSIDs, etc.
  • Unleash the full potential of your internet connection with this router!
I have not had this router long but I have had it long enough to say if you wanna unleash you internet connection’s full potential this will do it! I will admit in the past I have used cheaper routers but after getting 1 gig fiber internet I decided to invest in a more premium router. This is my first ever TP-Link router…always been a Netgear fan but decided on this one after reading reviews and watching how easy it is to set up. You can use either TP’s tether app or you can do it manually using a computer. Before purchasing I viewed several You-tube videos on setting it up and it really was easy. And as for increasing my speed it did! I will say you get what you pay for when you spend that little extra for a good router! I am hoping to get many years out of it. I work from home and rely on connecting to a computer back at an office, opening and downloading large files, I stream a lot of video on my smart tv and just browse the internet. On my tablet I get speeds of 800mps and on my hardwired computer I get speeds of 1 gig! All of which i didnt get with my old router!

  • Nice
Very awesome router fast not bad to setup and works well
  • THE Travel Router
I recently picked up the TP-Link BE3600 Travel Router and I couldn’t be happier with it—definitely a 5-star product! It’s been amazing to have a secure connection everywhere I travel, giving me peace of mind whether I’m in a hotel, Airbnb, or airport lounge. The setup is super simple, and managing it through the Tether app makes everything a breeze. One of my favorite features is having a network-side VPN when traveling. It’s great not having to configure each device individually, since everything connected to the router is automatically protected. Plus, I love that my family and I can connect all our devices without having to log each one into hotel Wi-Fi separately—our network stays the same wherever we go.If you’re looking for a reliable, secure, and easy-to-manage travel router, the TP-Link BE3600 is a fantastic choice. Highly recommended!
  • Good Value for Wifi7 (sortof)
Wifi 7 sortof… not a 3 band but 2 band router. It is very fast compared to the AX1800 I replaced. My last 3 setups have been TP Link products and always have had good value/performance with them. The only disappointment is to use the upgraded security features requires a subscription now. I won’t be doing that as I am using basic router security and always on a VPN whether home or away. This is a very good value if you want to insure being up to standard protocol for some time to come. My home is a ranch 1800′ and the reach upstairs and downstairs is strong. The router has performed flawlessly since being installed.
  • Easy to set up and use, but no IoT isolation.
Works as advertised. Easy to set up. It has a nice web interface. You should be aware that the IoT capabilities they mention are just for bandwidth management. Anything configured to use the IoT SSID will be able to see everything on your network. I was expecting the IoT devices to be isolated from the rest of my network, but that isn’t how it works. This means you really should make your IoT password at least as strong as your regular wi-fi password, otherwise you’re just making it easier for hackers to access your net.
  • Solid Wifi7 router at a very reasonable price
I had to buy a router because our current router was not performing well anymore. This one was Wifi7 yet was priced very reasonably. We needed it for a small apartment and we did not need a ton of functionality. The router was packaged very well and set-up was straightforward. I am pleased with this purchase. Highly recommended.
  • Great for Spectrum 200mbps plan!
Update: It is now April 21, 2020 and we’ve been using the router for 2 months. It is still working perfectly for us and we have zero complaints. I highly recommend it!We moved to the middle of nowhere about 7 years ago and it never occurred to us to check who provided TV/internet/phone at the new house before buying. We found out after buying the house that the only providers were satellite companies. We realized very quickly that first year that satellite sucks, the internet specifically. We got locked into a $75 a month plan with HughesNet for a year and never once were able to actually use the internet that whole year. It was really frustrating. We simply did not have home internet for the past 6 years due to a lack of a decent provider. This past week Spectrum finally moved their service to our road. We immediately signed up. I knew I wasn’t paying them $5 a month to rent a router from them but I also wasn’t sure at all how to pick out a router myself. I’ve always been pretty tech savvy but when you lose access(and a need) to those things you stop keeping up with them, I was seriously behind on all the new updates that have been made over the last several years. I knew I didn’t want to spend more than $50 on a router and after doing some research I finally decided on this TP-Link AC1200 and basically just hoped for the best. Some of the reviews weren’t great so I was nervous. It arrived a day after our internet was installed so I set it up by myself. It took me all of 20 mins from unboxing to the whole house having Wi-Fi, it was VERY easy. I love that it has it’s own app, a very convenient feature. We live in a 2000sq. ft., one floor, manufactured home. These homes have pretty thin walls so the signal reaches from one end to the other very easily. We are also extremely heavy on our data usage in this family and while it’s only been a couple of days now it has had zero trouble keeping up with us. We’ve had zero buffering while streaming & using our phones, everything has been working very quickly. We have several smart TVs, cell phones, a laptop, a printer & a PS4 connected to it at the moment. The technician from Spectrum who installed our internet also said this was a good option for our 200mbps plan. I hope this helps someone make up their mind on whether this router will be a good choice for them. I will update the review if anything changes but as of now this seems to have been a pretty solid purchase and I’m happy with it.
  • So easy to set up replace my old equipment with, excellent coverage and performance.
I received the TP-Link Dual-Band BE3600 Wi-Fi 7 Router Archer BE230 | 4-Stream | 2×2.5G + 3×1G Ports, USB 3.0, 2.0 GHz Quad Core, 4 Antennas | VPN, EasyMesh, HomeShield, MLO, Private IOT | Free Expert Support.I’m using this as an access point only to provide wifi for my cable modem. The cable modem is doing the router bit. So far, I’m impressed. It was plug easy to set up – just had to change one setting in the tplink admin pages to get it out of router mode and into access point mode. Then I named my wifi SSIDs the same as my old access point, plugged it into the cable modem and I was off and running.Took the time to go through the settings and pick my 2.5/5 ghz channels (I live in a condo, used a tool to see what my neighbors were using for channels and picked an open one). It made it big difference.I got this to replace an older Archer model I got eight years ago. It has made a huge difference in my coverage and especially speeds. At under $100 when I got it, this is a great value for me. Satisfied with the performance and simplicity.

What Customers Say:

  • Very fast, secure, easy setup, and easily handles multiple devices at a very affordable price.
This is my second TP Link router, my first router being wi-fi 5. Wanting to take advantage of the increased speed with Spectrum, I decided I buy a wi- fi 6 router. My previous TP router had given me a great internet experience, so it was an easy choice to buy another router from TP Link.Setting it up was simple using the TP Link app, and the performance had exceeded my expectations. I’m getting Ethernet speeds wirelessly. I currently have 14 devices connected to my router and haven’t had any performance issues, every device is running perfectly. With this router, I know that I’m getting the internet speed I’m paying for.I’d highly recommend this, or any other router that TP Link manufacturers. It’s a quality company that makes high quality products.
  • Solid performer
[updated]I updated from a TP-Link Archer C7. I have an Arris SB8200 modem. Here are a few notes. The AX55 signal strength seems a little better, especially in the 5 GHz band. It also adds 802.11ax and WPA3 security as well as “Smart Connect” which allows you to combine 2.4G and 5G bands under a single SSID and have the router decide which to use with each client. You could just give the separate bands the same SSID with any router. In that case each client would decide which band to use. The router login no longer uses a username, only a password.I have now tried “Smart Connect” with 2 TP-Link routers in 2 different houses and I am not impressed. On both I eventually had to separate the 2 bands. It was especially dysfunctional on mobile devices (phones, laptops, etc.). It doesn’t seem to switch bands very easily as you move around. Even stationarydevices seem to bounce inexplicably between the two bands, which can have very different signal strengths. The wi-fi encryption settings can be a problem depending on your equipment. The options are:NoneWPA2-PSK[AES]WPA2-PSK[AES]+WPA-PSK[TKIP]WPA3-PersonalWPA3-Personal+WPA2-PSK[AES]WPA2-EnterpriseWPA/WPA2-EnterpriseI wouldn’t touch either WPA or TKIP. Previously I used only WPA2-PSK[AES]. I would have liked to have used WPA3-Personal+WPA2-PSK[AES] here, but I have an older 2.4G printer with WPA/WPA2[AES or TKIP]. It would not connect unless the router was set to WPA2-PSK[AES] or WPA2-PSK[AES]+WPA-PSK[TKIP]. In the end, I set the 2.4G band to WPA2 (only) and the 5G band to WPA2+WPA3.Configuration and Installation———————————–Installing the router was pretty straightforward. I turned off wi-fi on my laptop, wired it (DHCP) to one of the router’s client ports, browsed to 192.168.0.1, and logged in (password is on the bottom of the router). Alternatively, you could leave your wi-fi enabled and connect to the router’s default SSID, also on the bottom. Doing it over wi-fi is just a bit more risky.I configured it entirely through the web interface using the Advanced menus. I changed the password and IPv4 address and left it with a temporary SSID while walking through all the other settings. After that was done, I shut down my old router, changed the temporary SSID and passcode on the new router to the permanent ones, shut down the new router, and connected it to my modem.I have not as yet found anything I can do with the Tether app that I can’t do, and more easily, with the web interface. The router would not connect to the internet when I powered it on until I remembered that the modem has to be rebooted to pick up the router’s MAC address. It won’t connect to a new router until then. I powered off both, powered up the modem, waited until it was fully up, and then powered up the router. It connected immediately and has been running fine since then.Once connected, I reviewed the internet (IPv4 and IPv6) status and settings. For Comcast, at least in this area, the IPv6 WAN connection type is Dynamic IP(SLAAC/DHCPv6) with DHCPv6 and prefix delegation selected. The LAN type is SLAAC+Stateless DHCP. I prefer to use Google’s public DNS servers (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4, 2001:4860:4860::8888, and 2001:4860:4860::8844), I’ve set those to override the Comcast-provided defaults.Performance—————I have 400 Mbps Comcast service with an Arris SB8200 modem. The modem indicates DOCSIS 3.1 service on the downstream side, but not on the upstream side. My laptop wireless NIC is an Intel AC7265 dual-band b/g/n/ac adapter. On a wired connection to the router, I get download speeds of 475+ Mbps. 480 would be the most I would expect given Comcast’s typical practice of over-provisioning by 20%.On 5G wi-fi with 40 MHz channels, I get 475 Mbps next to the router and about 20′ away in the same room. I get 355 Mbps in the next room, which is 73% faster than with the Archer C7.On 2.4G wi-fi with 20 MHz channels, I get 100 Mbs in the next room and 45 Mbs 2 floors up on the opposite side of the house. That’s 25% and 80% faster than with my Archer C7.Those who have unexpectedly slow wi-fi performance and who have “Smart Connect” enabled may be connected via the 2.4 GHz band without realizing it. Another reason not to use that feature.I live in a crowded wi-fi neighborhood with people who think it’s a good idea to use 40 or 80 MHzchannels in the 2.4 GHz band. Don’t do that. It makes all your neighbors’ performance worse anddoesn’t really help yours.
  • Best router ever! No more xfinity woes!
This router is no joke. IYKYKTplink really changed the game. Couple years ago a router this nice cost hundreds of dollars.I love clean design. Signal is strong! Setup is super simple. Seriously. The people complaining that it’s complicated – if they couldn’t figure this out idk how they figured out how to write a review on Amazon.I also love the web interface to setup the router. The design is clean and intuitive and very pleasant to use. Also the performance is quite fast compared to all the routers out there with slow as heck web interface! The reason I got this router is because xfinity gave me a gateway that kept dropping the WiFi on my pc. I tried every trick I found online, but nothing worked. Xfinity support was completely clueless! So I decided to try my own router. I threw the xfinity gateway into bridge mode, connected it to this router and set it up – now my internet is really nice!Another thing I really like about using your own router is being able to use the best dns servers rather than the crap your IsP throws at you!10/10 – best router ever!As for coverage I hear this router is good enough for a 3000 square feet house and you want to put it in the middle of the house as much as possible so the whole house gets even coverage. I don’t like using mesh systems because at each node your internet gets 50% slower! So this is the best way to go!
  • Works well but with set up quirks
This will not be an in-depth review but will cover some highlights.Pros: This is small and light, which makes it easy to pack for trips. It also has decent speed and range. Now, it’s range isn’t very far — on the 5GHz band I was down a bar in strength about 20 feet away, but the range is sufficient for travel use unless you are staying in a massive room or house. It was generally easy to use and set up was straightforward if you know what you’re doing. If not, I can see it being a challenge to many people because there are no clear instructions included with it.Cons: Set up was not as easy as it could be. The Tether app helped but pulling up the captive portal never worked from within the app. I generally had to plug the router in, connect to it, add the hotel/public WiFi as the network, and then go on a different device to pull up the captive portal. If you’ve been dealing with routers and computers for some time, you’ll figure it out, but otherwise, the process is much too convoluted.Overall, the router is good. I’m hoping it lasts some years. It really should be priced lower though as a WiFi 6 device. I know competition is scarce but at the ‘normal’ price there is a better option for a travel router. At the discounted price of around $50-$60 after credits and coupons that was available recently, it’s fairly priced for the performance. I think $50 would be much more reasonable as a target price for this.

  • Works perfectly and super convenient
I needed a way to hardwire my work computer when WiFi was the only thing available. This was perfect! I’m so happy that I found this! It was everything I needed. Simple to use, easy setup, did not require often reboots or anything else. It was easy to take from one place to another.
  • Fantastic Customer Service
Earlier this year, I purchased a travel router with the goal of being able to connect to my home network while traveling abroad. After several unsuccessful attempts to set it up over the next few months, I grew increasingly disappointed and worried that I wouldn’t have it ready in time for my upcoming trip to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.Fortunately, when I reached out to the GL.iNet Customer Support team, I received a prompt and helpful email with detailed setup instructions. Although I still had trouble getting everything connected, the message also included a link to schedule a call with a support representative.I set up an appointment and was connected with Barry—an exceptionally knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and capable representative. Over the course of two separate calls on two different days, Barry guided me step-by-step through the configuration, updates, and profile setup for both my SLFT1200 and MT3000 routers. Despite technical issues with screen sharing and multiple attempts to troubleshoot, Barry remained patient, reassuring, and determined to help me succeed. Thanks to Barry’s outstanding support, everything is now fully set up and working perfectly. I cannot express enough how grateful I am for the tremendous customer service I received. It is refreshing to experience such dedication, professionalism, and genuine care.My thanks to Barry for providing support that truly stands out.
  • Good and inexpensive travel router that I carry every time I travel.
Cheapest but fully functional travel router. This is a must if you are traveling for work frequently or travel with family and each person carrying a computer, tablet and phone. It is a bit slow compared to the Wi-Fi 6 or 7 routers but still very functional out of the box and with the GL.iNet app on the phone, it is very quick to setup when you checkin at a hotel.
  • Great budget travel router
4-1/2 stars . My first travel router is working great! I got this for occasional travel and coffee shop use.Set up is fairly easy but there are a few steps to go through and it did take a little google-ing to figure out how to set up my Surfshark VPN with the device. But now that it’s set, it’s easy to enable or disable my VPN if needed.I am using it in repeater mode in a hotel, and the family are all connected.I thought I’d be able to plug in drive and stream media through it. Read something after purchase that this was enabled via a previous software version, and may work in a beta, but not sure. Maybe user error.I am able to stream media from my Jellyfin server and that worked fine. For the price and VPN security (with separate VPN provider) this is pretty cool. Good entry level solution to see if this is something beneficial for you. You can always upgrade to a higher end model later.
  • Lasted 2 years in extreme temperatures. Will buy another.
I put one of these in the cab of my RV on the ceiling and had it powered on 24/7 for about 2 years straight. It was repeating WiFi and had about 10 IoT devices (including a home assistant server) communicating constantly with each other. The cab reaches temperatures well above 140 degrees F (repeatedly) in the summer when parked and below 14F in the winter.I’m surprised it lasted as long as it did. While I would have loved it to last longer, it proved to be resilient–especially for the price. I will be buying another one.WiFi range for the repeating function could be better and is sensitive to even pretty benign obstructions. My guess is it lacks beam-forming functions when repeating which kinda makes sense. It doesn’t do a consistent job of automatically re-connecting to known WiFi signals if it gets kicked off. It is infinitely configurable. I modified the MTU to speed up cellular tethering bandwidth.

The Wi-Fi 6E is great Has about the same range as 5G because it’s not a big jump The thing is if you ever do a survey what you’ll notice is the cable companies aren’t giving anybody anything higher than five and even the tethering is outputting five in fact my iPad M4 probably outputs 5 even though it accepts the Wi-Fi 6 and 6e 60 can’t share bands It jumps down to six when I get a little further away through walls it even goes to five sometimes but because it’s all working the way it’s working it is never an issue If you have it set up right where you keep all bands on 2.4 GHz set to 20 for the bandwidth pipeline 5 GHz set to auto for the pipeline 6 gigahertz set to auto for the pipeline. Use the same broadcast SSID for all three That’s how you allow it to engage 6e and even though it maneuvers stuff around I can tell the difference that even when it’s not on 6E there’s a difference in how it handles things because of the way it works but that’s how you activate it Nobody knows and it’s okay if it’s not on it I would be getting crazy interference and and drops and spikes and all kinds of stuff or be unusable on 5 GHz on a dual band router In fact I had a dual band TP-Link you definitely want the AX that’s the other thing You want to keep all all the things set to like all the protocols You don’t want AX only but you want them all on for 5 GHz and for 6 Gigahertz Again same broadcast SSID for all of them same passwordPut it up nice and high It’s usually best to just leave all the antennas completely vertical I’ve tested all the different types of angled settings It’s best to truly leave it that way if it’s on the same floor and just put it as high as possible close to the ceiling cuz Wi-Fi branches out and then comes down. I performed Wi-Fi surveys prior to purchasing this one They’re so much default you know routers from the companies and I live in an area where nobody’s even really wise enough to like use their own modem like I do and the routers I only use the router When I want a game like down the hall and and you know through some walls and everything so it’s important you know that you don’t need a killer speed or anything but it’s important that you know you still getvirtually collision free performance and that’s what it does It might drop it down to six or well as you get further away through a door and stuff and a little for if you a little bit further than that through heavy paying glass or anything it might be on the five but it’ll still perform properly which that would be with any router really I bought this on Prime day and got it for an amazing price it was only $140 now Wi-Fi 6 came out in 2019 6e was I believe 2022 possibly 2023 I don’t see the internet providers bothering giving us Wi-Fi six devices of those stupid modem router combos and the area I live in there’s just nobody here really maybe one person but there’s really no one around me that’s even smart enough to even like do something like that They don’t care so I always hardwire my modem and just switch the wires I keep each one connected to my device I keep rubber band on each end color coded and I just swap my modem and then I only do the router I plug it in for when I want a game wherever cuz 5G also wide band is fine from the cell phone company for gaming as well but if I’m in my own place it only makes sense to use my gigabit and honestly when I’m in my room I still do the same thing because when I’m right near it it truly does give you gigabit speeds It’ll always be between like $800 and a little over a thousand you know 1,024 would be a gigabit but you’ll see it’ll peak up to like for briefly up so like in the 15 1600s you know but it’ll average just over a gigabit It’ll give me my full upstream My upstream is only 35 I don’t have fiber thousand up thousand down like I used to cuz I live in a different area but I get virtually my full upstream even in the worst conditions it’s just the worst conditions you know you’d be tinkering all the time with a 5 GHz where I live a dual band Again it’s different when it’s in 5 GHz mode when it’s set up for that Many devices don’t even support Wi-Fi 6 or 6E for example my Xbox Series X does not on the old router it was unplayable On the new one if I bring it down that way it plays like a dream and it’s only on you know the 5 GHz band and a lot of times when I go through the door into this one room based routes from Wi-Fi 6 to that and even though it’s flooded with it it has to do it the architecture of how the greenfield band works the Wi-Fi 60 and how it all works together It’s like even though it’s dropping it down there’s other parts I’m trying to explain this in layman’s other parts of the code and the ways developed where it’s still using the perks of what Wi-Fi 6 and 6E give you even if it has to drop you down to five Yeah you’ll get slower speeds but you won’t have to deal with other people’s 5 GHz connections interfering with your connection if it drops you down to five It’s still treated the same as long as your device supports it and it’s set to accept it either if it’s got an on-off switch or auto for 6E you always want to leave that on or set to auto like the iPad a lot of the newer iPad support it I guess the iPhone’s my Samsung Galaxy S 23 Ultra supports it When I go to the other room I like to do mobile gaming on my iPad M4 so it’ll start off at 6E If I leave through a door down the hall it’ll drop the six and I could walk past the area I want to go to it’ll stay on six If I go through this door with this double payne glass window it’ll traditionally drop down to five or I should say generally sometimes it does stay at 6 If you check it but if you’re not obsessed with checking it and you you know you might get first and if you forget about that you know you can tell the difference just just look at the speed test I mean there won’t be as fast but they won’t be like up and down and up and down like a traditional dual band if it’s on the five that’s the point I mean yeah if you’re downloading something you might you know if you just don’t want to use ultra wide band even though I have an excellent ulcer white band connection in this area I mean you may want to swap suit if you’re far away when you’re downloading something but gaming doesn’t go off of that it goes off of latency You can nerf your speeds down to very low and also you know how chatty it is before it releases stuff like 60/120 instead of the thousands of the set to I’m sure some people know what I’m talking about but no this router is great If you’re having trouble if you leave in a heavily congested environment that’s just full of stuff where you can’t get far away I mean you know but you’re you can still get your connection but once you get there you know then you’re constantly fiddling with channels and stuff no this is a set of forget it deal and it’s going to get down to six then the like 5 but it’s still technically operating a 6e like the benefits of it cuz like I said my series X only accepts five PS five Accepts six. But I mean just think about the fact that the series X on the dual band 5 GHz in the same area will have lots of issues but it has no issues whatsoever and it can’t even do you know it’s on five even without checking and it’s fine and generally in the worst conditions from that far away I’ll still get 30 to 100 download and 25 to my max 35 up but sustained like nice and smooth not all up and down or what pauses and breaks which means even collisions might be coming to play but it’s using because of the way it’s designed it’s using the enhancements of what having those bands unified to create a 6E Greenfield Band network can provide and that’s the whole point for buying one in the first place really And even if there’s a couple people that have Wi-Fi 6 You don’t have to worry about it especially if you have a 6e but that’s the way you do it A lot of people don’t know it but yeah do what I said about the three bands and that automatically engages 6E if you can pull it and it also has an operating in a different style Everything else is set to auto channels output frequencies like you know 2040 80 120 except you want to Nerf the 2.4 down to 20 not 2040 Hope this helps
  • EXCELLENT
I needed a new Router because mine was outdated and no updates were being made for it. I also noticed that it no longer was as fast as it once was because technology has improved and with old gears, it just can’t keep up so your reduction in speed is very clear. So, when this went on sale for 50% off, I knew I had to get it. And as I suspected, once I plugged it in and got the app connected and did whatever updates it needed to – my internet speed tripled and can better use the full capabilities of my Modem. Now, one thing to remember is that you have to make sure that all of your tech also has the latest Wi-Fi card or latest updates to take full advantage of the router speed power. Or else, it will connect but you will not get the full power of the router. Other than that, this router was a great investment. Most of the time, the only thing you need to keep upgrading is your router as modems can remain the same for years because each modem specifically only pull a specific amount of megabytes per seconds through the Wi-Fi with the ethernet connected, and when you buy one it is because you know exactly what you need only depending of your life situation. A great buy, if on sale, don’t hesitate. And yes, it is true, the more expensive a router is the greater it is because it simply has better tech in it keeping up with today’ speed.
  • Fantastic speeds for a competitive price!
I upgraded my Internet speed in spring 2020, in the early part of the pandemic to 1GB to keep up with 4 laptops, 1 desktop, a Ring camera with chime, a Ring security system, two Roku sticks on smart TVs, 1 Ubiquity WAP, and two NES Switches (among other Wi-Fi devices), TV streaming, and online PC gaming. As our Internet-home grew, the devices with Wi-Fi connected devices exceeded 20. With the upgrade, I had to replace my coaxial router/modem to a permanently installed Frontier modem and an Arris NVG468MQ router that could take a WAN Ethernet port. The Frontier-provided Arris router was not new, low range, and buggy. I went through 3 of these Arris routers in 2.5 years with full Wi-Fi bars but with exactly the same errors (“Connected, no internet”, “No Internet, secured”, etc.). Nearly pulled my hair. The family was not happy either. Although the Arris router is compatible with 1GB Ethernet upgraded speeds, it appears to cap at about 600 MB. Believe me, I NEVER, ever, got close to 600 MB with Arris. At an OK speed check I would get 30-60 MB Wi-Fi speeds and sometimes crack 100 MB on my Wi-Fi connected laptops, and maybe a bit higher on my Ethernet-connected desktop. On my Samsung S20 phone I would get 80-120MB speeds. When the Frontier tech visited to check my Internet problems on the second Arris router, I gave him the list of errors (4 in total, two that I named here) and right away he said it was the router and just gave me another one (the 3rd one at that point). Since I had him at home, I asked him if I could buy a router from Best Buy or Amazon and just “plug it in?”. He said, “Yes, your Internet setup is plug-n-play, just make sure the router has a blue or red Ethernet port.” With that information I started some light research figuring I had maybe a year before the “new” Arris router would get buggy again. Well, it took about a month and I started getting the same exact errors as the previous Arris routers I had replaced. Although the Arris router “corrected” itself a few days later, I was done with Arris routers from Frontier. I sped up my research urgency for a new router from better known brands. At this point I felt I had control over the brand and price point I could buy knowing that I only needed a router and not a modem since Frontier installed a permanent modem when they upgraded my Internet to 1GB speed.Having read about 6E enabled routers–catching up on the newest router/Wi-Fi standards–I figured that a 6E router would be the best option for me as a “future-proof” investment. I narrowed the search to TP-Link, Netgear Nighthawk, and Asus models. This TP-Link AXE5400 beat all the other brands in price for roughly similar, or at least comparable, reviews, features, and range. I purchased this TP-Link AXE5400 Tri-Band WiFi 6E Router (Archer AXE75). TP-Link AXE5400 had excellent reviews on Amazon but also across the Internet from reputable technology websites and sources. I did not rely only on Amazon reviews given the issues with bogus reviews. The “plug-n-play” setup at my home with a Frontier 1GB speed was just that easy. Within about 2 minutes of connecting the TP-Link AXE5400 router, all the lights came “on”. I rushed to my Ethernet-plugged desktop and opened my browser. Right away I saw the TP-Link landing page asking for an admin login and password setup, and an Admin account. Several steps later, I reused the previously used SSID and password credentials to minimize connectivity disruptions on all my Wi-Fi-enabled devices and in a flash I was connected to the Internet. I might have spent maybe 20 minutes total, from unboxing to setup to Internet, with some thought-provoking time needed to come up with a new login and password for my TP-Link account. My desktop Ethernet-connected speed test blew me away: I broke the 700/800MB download/upload speeds! I ran a speed test on my Samsung S20 but got the 100+ MB speed that I had gotten with the Arris router. I wondered if it would make a difference if I “forgot” the SSID on the phone and then log back in to the same SSID and password? Sure did! After I “forgot” the SSID on my phone and logged back in and ran a speed test, I broke the 800 MB download speed on the phone. Fantastic! My laptop speeds exceeded the 200 MB download/upload speed marks. Another laptop hit the 190/200 MB download/upload speed marks.Although I am kinda rushing with this review, I feel I made the right purchase and that this TP-Link AXE5400 will outlast the last 3 Arris routers that this router replaced. I will return to review in a few months with good or bad impressions at that time. But, right now, I am a happy dad with a happy family.(Update: September 21, 2024): Ok, so I didn’t return after a few months. Rather, a few years. ????The TP-Link is still going strong. No issues. No problems. No headaches. No regrets.

  • Simple setup with Netgear app/Strong coverage
Bought this NETGEAR Nighthawk to avoid paying Spectrum for a router. If you’re a Spectrum customer, this router works with the Spectrum modem. It arrived this morning and after 20 minutes it’s up and running. We live in a one floor, 1500 square foot condo. Coverage is excellent throughout on 10 devices. The router is also small and fits nicely on our bedroom dresser. What I’m most impressed with is the setup and NETGEAR app. Download the NETGEAR app to your phone using a QR code provided on the instruction sheet. After establishing a NETGEAR account follow the prompts. This initial setup tutorial is fairly boiler plate, what sets this app apart is how it responds to issues. For example, if your router fails to connect on the first attempt, as mine did, it tells you precisely which settings to change on your phone to correct the issue. And these settings changes solved the problem in all three cases that occurred during my set up. I’ve never experienced this level of intuitive app support. I won’t pretend to offer any review of the technical capabilities of the router, definitely outside my bandwidth, but if you’re like me, comfortable with using technology, but needing guidance to navigate setups, this is a great product. The phone app is also easy to navigate and relatively self explanatory. To demonstrate, I ran a speed test from the phone app. It’s way easier than using the settings function on your device. Download speed is 113.72 Mbps, Upload is 12.07 Mbps and Ping is 15.0 Ms. Do I fully understand what these mean, no, but with a small amount of research I could if issues arise.Bottom line, I’m so happy this product was easy to setup and am very pleased with the value. For a few months rental cost on my Spectrum Router, I avoid paying a lifetime monthly fee. I will leave it to others to debate the merits of the technical functions of this router. There is no debate in my opinion on the simplicity of setup and functionality.
  • Good Router, Very small, Nice Simple Design, Easy Setup, Good Customer Svc
Very nice Router. I appreciate that customer support was available to help me with set-up, which ended up being quite easy; but support was needed as it didnt come with specific instructions to set it up properly.I love that it is very small and has a nice, simple design. Only wish they offered it in white, as i dont like black, but thats just an extra.Ive had it a few months already and it works nicely.
  • Easy to install
Works great we just had fiber optic installed
  • Just right
This has worked great for my apartment. The signal strength is great. I have 4 kids and all run multi devices from this. The streaming that I do is smooth and no lag. It was easy to install and gives me. The app that goes with it was easy and quick feed back on possible threats to my security. Really good price
  • A good, very basic router
I ordered this router to replace the Spectrum router I was paying $5 a month for, now having gone to $7 a month. It’s the router that looks like a charred meatloaf, standing on its’ head. It’s nothing special, so finding a substitute was like hurdling a very low bar. This R6700AX is an exact clone of the NETGEAR RAX10. The specs are identical, but not the price. Why, I don’t know. Of note is that this router omits the “NIGHTHAWK” designation, which, aside from generally lower speeds and area coverage, also lacks a USB port and an on/off switch on the back. These are not deal breakers though. My networking demands are quite modest, so I didn’t need a gaming level router. One Dell workstation, two tablets, and a 2000 square foot house, where all the activity is confined to a single quadrant. After reading the user manual, downloaded from the NETGEAR website (146 pages, does not cover NIGHTHAWK app), I opted to do a website interface, desktop installation, rather than using the highly touted NIGHTHAWK app. Though the NIGHTHAWK app has a lot of appeal for its’ simplicity and features, I wanted more in-depth control of the routers options than the app provided. For example, by electing to choose the “Smart Connect” feature, the router automatically chooses which band, the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz, that gives the best performance for each particular device that’s connected. You can still choose to configure each band separately by assigning a different network name (SSID) to each band (and that configuration is generated, by default, in your setup procedure). But with only two devices connected at a time, the “Smart Connect” option did not offer any benefit to me. I actually went several steps further and disabled the 2.4 GHz band and both Guest Network bands leaving only the 5 GHz band active for my two tablets. A word of caution for either of these connection preferences. Unlike some other NETGEAR routers, neither option will disable the WPS feature. That’s a potential security threat lurking under the radar. The installation process was simple and straight forward. Just sit back and answer the questions, click next, page by page, and you’re done. I chose the automatic set up option, the Setup Wizard, with the ability to go back through and tune the features important to me. This is done using the routers web interface, for which you must sign back into with your newly created password. There are a couple of You Tube videos, search: TONOR NETGEAR R6700AX SETUP, and search: BROK3N1MAGE NETGEAR NIGHTHAWK, that can give you a visual “heads up” as to how the router interface is laid out beforehand. I found them helpful. And the results were, well, underwhelming. LAN speeds to my workstation were almost identical to the Spectrum router at 366 Mbps download and 12 Mbps upload, with an assigned 300 Mbps service from Spectrum. Wi Fi speeds for the tablets were about 10% faster with the R6700AX, but if not for doing a speed test, I would not have detected any difference.Overall, I am satisfied with this router. Price, features, speed and coverage are all adequate for my minimalist inclinations. I also opted for the 4-year Asurion protection coverage. If the thing blows up before its’ time, it’s replaced. If I get past 11 months, it will pay for itself in monthly rental fees.

  • Awesome
I wanted a router to replace the one my ISP provided, which was severely limited in functionality. Did some research and the GL.iNet GL-MT6000 met my needs – I wanted something with at least 4 gigabit ethernet ports, plus the ability to configure the WAN connection to work with my fiber provider, plus built in ad-blocking DNS and VPN server.Only about 24 hours of use so far, but I’ve already configured the WAN connection (which requires setting a custom Vendor ID for both IPv4 and IPv6), set up AdGuard Home, set up an OpenVPN client connection to NordVPN for a specific client device, and set up an OpenVPN IPv6 server connection for my own remote access. The stock web interface is easy to use and good enough for basic needs. For more advanced needs, the Luci web interface is also available. For things that can’t be accomplished through a web UI, it’s easy to enable SSH access.I have a separate WiFi mesh system that is bridged to this router, so I’m not currently using its built-in WiFi and can’t speak to its range or performance. But in terms of serving as a powerful, customizable, and relatively open router for advanced home uses, this router has exceeded my expectations already. It’s replaced my ISP router plus a PiHole I had running on an old Raspberry Pi, as well as a bunch of complex services I had been running to work around deficiencies in my ISP’s router.
  • Issue 1,000 Miles Away & Fixed by Alen
I had a GL.iNet router deployed about 1,000 miles away that I could no longer access through Goodcloud.xyz because it kept redirecting to a localhost login URL. The first-level support team quickly realized I couldn’t log in locally and escalated the case right away.Alen, the support engineer, jumped in and was able to reproduce the same issue on his side. While I don’t know every detail of what he tried behind the scenes, he ultimately pushed a remote firmware update that fixed the problem and got my access back.I really appreciate a company that not only supports its product, but actually helps you work through a real-world problem like this. I have several GL.iNet routers in use because they solve things that most off-the-shelf routers just don’t, and it’s good to know there’s a responsive support team backing them.Shoutout to Alen and the GL.iNet support team for the help.
  • A great solid 75+ connections Open-WRT unit that can be configured as JUST an Access Point
This unit works well and with the Open-WRT web config UI .. no more locked into a vendor’s limited config abilities. This GL-MT6000 unit can be configured to be only an AP with no issue. It fixed connection issues that were frustrating and thought to be the DEVICE connecting in to Wifi. TV’s work!.Has a good strong Wifi 6 signal on 2.4/5.0 Ghz and reliably handles all traffic not just streaming devices. Bought (3) now for others I indireclty support, and have not looked back!As people upgrade their protection to dedicated Firewall appliances (as one device is over taxed to handle all of that work) properly. Needed JUST an Access Point (AP) for WIfi access to the secure networks. I have bought and trashed many versions of TP-LINK, NetGear, Asus, Mikrotik, et al, and all have low connection counts (~25) device connections max “reliably” and little security capabilities. Outside of personal devices, streaming and IOT (50)+ items on Wifi happens quickly everywhere. This unit handles it all and supports VLAN’s.You’ll know to get off those other units when Streaming devices connect solidly but laptops and tablets and phones cannot. Its the router prioritizing and dropping connections 🙁
  • GL-MT6000 has proven to be a very good router for my needs.
The GL-MT6000 has proven to be a very good router for my needs. I opted to use Openwrt firmware instead of the stock firmware. The GL-MT 6000 running (openwrt-24.10.2-mediatek-filogic-glinet_gl-mt6000-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin) is working great. My setup includes a USB-drive, multiple VLAN’s, GS108Ev3 – 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Smart Managed Plus Switch, IPv6, No-ip Dynamic DNS and an Open VPN server. At this time my system has been running for a couple months with no issues. My ISP had some issues in how they implemented IPV6 which caused a lot of connection reliability issues on certain devices. Once I recognized the problem my ISP was very responsive in fixing the issues. For me Openwrt was quite a learning curve, so I bought a second GL-MT6000 to test features and settings without constantly disrupting the internet connection for my family. I have a lot of screenshots and notes to aid in firmware upgrades down the road. Openwrt is designed to run on many different devices so much of the information on the internet may not be directly applicable. No regrets on purchasing this router!
  • Best Home Router I’ve Ever Owned
It runs OpenWRT (open source) and has both a user friendly interface developed by GL-iNet, and the regular LUCI interface for more advanced users who want to do things like set up custom firewall rules. The GL-iNet interface though has 99% of the options you would ever need including settings to make the router up to act as a VPN server or client, setting up guest networks, etc. It also comes with a built in dynamic DNS service so if you’re new to self-hosting and don’t yet have your own proper domain name, you can use one generated by GL-iNet to connect to your network from elsewhere in the world. There’s also an optional mobile app that can be paired with it to make quick adjustments to a lot of settings, such as turning your guest WiFi on or off, showing the QR code for a network to help a visitor connect, blocking devices, reserving IP addresses and more. The range on it is outstanding. Even my 5 GHz network reaches over 300 feet down my driveway “after” going thru two walls of my house to get outside. This is easily the best home router I’ve ever owned. I’ve already recommended it to my brother who also ordered one and loves his as well. When/if it it dies or I need to upgrade, I’ll definitely be buying from this company again.

What Customers Say:

  • Ease of Installation for those that are clueless to network connectivity.
25 years ago, I installed server systems, terminals, printers, and network routers. All that networking equipment had to be set up with laptops directly connected to the routers’ ports. Nothing was autosensing. I enjoyed it, but I knew what I was doing. Fast forward to today. I had to replace my own 25-year-old router because new laptops would not connect to it due to upgraded security software. I thought, Oh boy. I bet this is going to be a trip. I had forgotten most of what I knew; besides, I knew nothing about this new stuff. I picked this TP-Link AC1200. It was inexpensive, but we didn’t need anything robust since we are not gamers. First of all, I ordered it on Amazon at about 3 pm. 8:30 pm, a car backs into my driveway. They delivered the router in less than 6 hours. Incredible! Today I went to install it. I was expecting a bit of a hassle with configuring this thing. After physically connecting the two cables —the power cord and the network cable —I powered it on. I went to my PC. The TP-Link showed up in my available networks. I click on it. Put in the password supplied. Got connected, but I had no internet connectivity. Ahh! I had to disconnect a cable from my MAIN in-house router, then reconnect it so that the router ID would be discovered. I went back out to the shop, clicked on Safari (I have an Apple MacBook). Wala, I’m IN. I could NOT believe how easy the installation went. No glitches, smooth operation, and my network is all updated. I know how networking operates, but I am clueless about all the newer equipment since I’ve been out of the field for almost 15 years. So, even a stupid person like me can set up this equipment that used to take a lot of training 25 years ago. This inexpensive wireless router is absolutely outstanding. I usually do not write such long reviews, but I could not let this pass without adding my thoughts about the TP-Link AC1200 WiFi Router. I’m so glad these routers were not around when I was in the field. If they had been, my great-paying job would not have existed. Now that I am retired, I’m happy for them, so I can still dabble on the Internet.
  • Consider this if your having signal and range problems with your Verizon Gateway WiFi router
Since getting the Verizon Gateway “Cube” router two years ago I have been having trouble with the WiFi signal and range from this router. Numerous calls to Verizon didn’t resolve the problem and they wouldn’t replace it, because their system said it was fine. I should have purchased a replacement router back when the problem started but I was afraid it would be too complicated to install a replacement. That said, I was finally fed up with the lousy signal from the Verizon router, and even found on the internet that signal strength and range this was a common problem with their router, so I bought this router. It was super easy install and had great signal strength right from the start, it even reached my detached garage. My Verizon plan is only for the 300Mb/s and the internet usage is just for me and my wife but there was an improvement is internet speed as well. Finally I’m using the TP router in the AP mode, where I use the Ethernet signal from the Verizon router to the TP- Link router.
  • Easy mesh is awesome
This is wonderful, no more router problems, easy mesh is the way to go for older houses, trailer, double wides. Use the pin number to hook up, to login to all your wifi accounts. I used this when my service providers router kept going in and out. It’s definitely worth the buy. I’ve got 2 cell phones, a laptop, and a ruku, and fire stick, and can have them running at same time no outages. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
  • Easy to set up & use, not 300mbps though
For a pretty low price, this is a great wifi router and does exactly what I need it to. Setup is frictionless, you can just plug it in and use it as is, or configure settings on the TP-Link site to change the SSID and password, operation mode, and even set up different networks. The wireless network range is good too, covering my whole apartment with strong signal strength. My only criticism is that the internet speeds that are claimed aren’t quite the reality: the claim is 300mbps on 2.4ghz and 800mbps on 5ghz, and the reality isn’t close to that. On my phone and computer which automatically connect to the 5g band, I get at most 100mbps. That is still a fairly good speed, but only around a third of even the lower estimate.
  • Finally, a TP-Link That Just Works!
After wasting 12 hours trying to set up the TP-Link TL-WA801N, I was nervous to try again—but the Archer A54 was a total relief. Setup took under 30 minutes with the Tether app, no typing IP addresses or dealing with PoE injectors. I easily created a 2.4 GHz IoT network for my smart plugs, bulbs, and Echo devices. Speeds aren’t huge (~20 Mbps), but for IoT it’s perfect. Simple, reliable, and stress-free. Highly recommended!
