Phil Wickham is one of the best worship leaders of this time. His songs are truly about praising God. Easy to listen to and feel his adoration of God. He sings in a manner that you can understand the words versus some singers that are trying to show off their vocals but can’t understand the words. His music about God and not himself.

No limits on Phil’s many talents! He is truly blessed as are we to reap the rewards. This is the best yet (and I have them all)!!! His true passion and authenticity is self evident in his delivery. Phenomenal worship songs that keep the fire burning in our souls! Difficult to name a favorite, but the title track has the edge. You won’t be disappointed. May God keep blessing you and yours, Phil!!!

Great hymnbook for the saint with lyrics to sing along. So many great ones: Running to a Runaway, Song of the Saints, Awesome God, So So Good, God is Good and Wonderous Cross are my favorites.

This is my all time favorite cd to listen to as the holiday season ramps up, especially good for riding to and returning from christmas shopping or anywhere traffic is bad! I was not willing to share with my daughter so I got her her own copy, she loves it!!

Availability and price was great.

I listen to this album starting the day after thanksgiving and at least one or two times a day. It is beautiful and easy to listen to. This album I sent to my grandson and it was the only one they played all night for their mini Christmas party.

This is the perfect Christmas gift for my mom who loves listening to Kenny G Christmas music, even when me and my brother were kids long time ago in the 90s and my mom would play this Christmas album in her car during the holidays when my mom was still married to my dad. Good times and good memories. ????

This would make a great starter CD for anyone who may want to have some Roy Orbison in their collection. The sound or mastering is well done. The songs of course are Roy Orbison, so they’re great! Of course there are other collections like the box set “Roy Orbison The Soul Of Rock and Roll” 4 CD set which has these and many more, but this is a nice one CD collection of songs that span the years of a great, great singer.If you’re like me, you probably already have all these songs on various other CD’s and Vinyl’s. However, if you’re like me, you’ll probably get it anyway, just to have it. With that said, it is a good set of songs ranging from his Sun Records days (Ooby Dooby) which Roy still included in his concerts, at least the 3 I was fortunate to go see. His Monument, MGM years, and Virgin hits from the Mystery Girl album. Even a couple from the Traveling Wilburys. So it’s a nice mix of different times of Roy’s career.I would highly recommend it to anyone just looking for a great CD of some of Roy’s biggest or best. I would still recommend it to anyone looking to add to their Roy Orbison Collection. If you have “All Time Greatest Hits of Roy Orbison”, “The Essential Roy Orbison”, “Mystery Girl”, and “The Traveling Wilburys Volume 1”, then you have most of these songs. If my count is correct, and you have the 4 CD’s I’ve listed, the 2 songs you would be getting for the first time is “Too Soon To Know” and “Heartbreak Radio”.Overall, well done, great set of songs from the man Elvis once called “the greatest singer of all-time”. The last time I saw Roy was 6 weeks before his passing at the Arizona State Fair, and yes, he was amazing! What a voice!

Great Album. My dad wanted to buy this. He loves Roy. He was a bit before my time. But I am now a fan.Great Album, sound was great, my kids are even loving on Roy.. Everyone needs this album in their collection.

Good stuff, the first recordings on the disc have a surprisingly poor sound quality. It could be caused by my having listened to it in my truck while on the road. That improved after the first few songs. It is very good and I am glad I made the purchase.

Excellent collection: it contains old hits like Running Scared to new ones like You Got It. Two from his time in The Wilbury Brothers, one live from his Black & White Night concert. (I can recommend the video too). Nicely packaged and remastered. 26 songs in all. Booklet contains quite a bit of information about Roy and each song has information about when it was released and musicians who played on it. Highly recommended.

This Perry Como Christmas album is worth buying for the final track alone. Over the course of ten minutes, Como and an angelic chorus of singers tell the story of Christmas in words and song: the arrival of Joseph and Mary in Bethlehem, the birth of Jesus, the angels’ appearance to the shepherds, and the visit from the Three Wise Men (incorporating the songs O Little Town of Bethlehem; Come, Come, Come to the Manger; The First Noel; Oh Come All Ye Faithful; We Three Kings of Orient Are; and Silent Night). Apart from this lengthy track, there are really only two additional hymns featured on the album, God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen and O Holy Night, but both of these are, well, divine – especially the latter of the two.The secular Christmas songs feature Como at his most playful best, including one of the best performances of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer I’ve ever heard. Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town includes an introductory verse I’ve never really heard from any other singer – about visiting the North Pole and being told of Santa’s plans from Old Saint Nick himself. My favorite 60s Christmas album

When I was a kid we used to listen to this album on vinyl as we decorated the tree and got ready for Christmas. Our phonograph no longer works and over the years I often have certain songs on this album playing in my head, especially Home for the Holidays, as we decorate for the season. I found the CD of this classic album on Amazon and bought it. It is better than I remembered it to be.This is truly a classic Christmas album especially for Como fans. His honey-smooth and warm voice are the perfect addition to lights on the tree and hot chocolate in a comfy chair in front of the fire. I haven’t heard any of his other Christmas album and I’m sure that they are all good since Como was such a class act. But this album brings back a lot of good, warm memories for me and harkens back to a simpler, less hectic time.Richard Bienvenu[…]

The sound awesome

This 1959 release is my alltime favorite Christmas album. Perry’s voice is as strong and melifluous as ever. With backup choruses on a number of tunesby the Ray Charles singers and orcestration by Mitchell Ayers the compositions are rich with touches of big band to classical influences. Perry as always, stays true to the core material yet clearly and effortlessly makes it his own signatire style. That all of the recording was done over 3 days in July of 1959 in New York is amazing in that you can almost feel the warmth of a crackling fireplace and envision the Christmas decorations, eggnog and the accumulating snow outside

Wonderful What can you say about this amazing voice

This CD has some amazing vocals. Ms. Houston’s voice shows depth and richness, and her vocal technique demonstrates control, power, subtlety, emotion and her wonderful tone. “O Come O Come Emanuel” is “stop your heart” breathtaking, and “Cantique de Noel/ O Holy Night” just makes you want to stop everything and play the song over an over again. “The Christmas Song” is also a stand out, and then, there is Ms. Houston’s rendition of “Joy to the World,” with the Georgia Mass Choir, which, like her Super Bowl performance of the “Star Spangled Banner”, sets the standard for this song. After hearing Houston’s Joy to the world, every other version pales. Why this CD is so little known is a mystery, because some of these performances are among the best ever by this once in a lifetime artist. I would recommend ordering the CD instead of downloading because the CD provides a much better sound (mp3s lose so much in translation). What Houston does with her “instrument” on some of these songs is simply breathtaking, so, after hearing her versions of these songs, like so many of her performances, you will be spoiled and may never want to hear someone else sing this song. I highly recommend this CD.

She’s a great singer

Well, after I found myself clapping & singing along with Whitney (& that choir-ooh!)-I just HAD TO SAY THAT I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS ALBUM! talk about a joyful noise! I’d no idea that Whitney Had actually produced this Christmas masterpiece as recent as 2003 ! (for some reason I’d thought this was made as the results of that awful Preacher’s Wife movie-‘1995?’) But, imagine my surprize when I found out that it in was in 2003! Well, after reading some of the other reviews, I guess the people who’ve trashed this wonderful album are the same ones who’ve trashed her ‘I Iook to you’ CD. Well, to those people..I just have to wonder-have you really listened to this album or are you being influenced by the ‘TMZ.TWITTer,etc.’ I guess negativity rules your world..but, in my UNIVERSE..MS. WHITNEY HOUSTON still somehow has the vocal chops & managed to brush up against the divinity in this album! I LOVE IT! I still can’t figure out which song I love the best: Emmanuel, The Christmas Song(chestnut roasting..)or Joy to the World. I guess, I’ll just have to listen to this again !!!

Excellent pressing of Whitney’s Christmas album on limited edition white vinyl. A must for all Whitney fans, and audiophiles a like.

This band is a favorite of mine, even after the lamented Lowell George died. They are excellent musicians and the cd needs several listening to enjoy fully. Good music for these days.

“Strike Up the Band” is a tight, cohesive CD put out by a group who still likes playing with each other. Certain themes revolve around escaping societal expectations and looking inward to find true peace. One song “Shipwreck” claims we are all shipwrecks on the open sea, basically hoping to find peace “when the dawn comes” “Strike Up the Band” is a musical invitation to find an individual harmony in life and “strike up the band.” It is an album of encouragement and exhorts each listener to play that special chord of life that is given to everyone to the best of their ability. From insightful lyrics to joyous jamming, this album will re-ignite a passion for a band ,which has survived upheavals in personnel and direction, and still continues to be a prominent fixture in country folk rock.

Fantastic new music from Little Feat – all the songs sound great just like the old feat

Finally some new songs from this well seasoned band. More opportunity to get new members Scott Sharrard and Tony Leone into the mix of new material. Have to listen to this a few times till one gets used to the new songs. Enjoy

I don’t listen to music to get lessons in life any more than I read literature to learn how to rebuild automatic transmissions. That said, there is something completely undeniable about the attitude driving every note and word of this music. Ironically, it never comes across as “preachy” – although it often is – it’s just that the Staple family – Pops and daughters Mavis, Cleo, and Yvonne, have a philosophy, a point of view – and they talk it, walk it, sing about it, and exude it in everything they do. It’s joyful, healthy, righteous, tough-minded, and most of all – loving. Plenty of music makes you feel good; this music makes you feel good about life – and being human.The CD captures the Staple Singers in the glory days of their career. It has the obligatory hits you must have, Respect Yourself, Come Go With Me, I’ll Take You There, and Be What You Are – (the latter sounds as current today as the latest, hippest, self-help seminar held in Aspen for $5,000 a seat). But when you dig a little deeper to the tracks that didn’t make it onto jukeboxes across the nation and the world, the news is just as good. There really are no dogs on this CD at all; the closest I found were the remakes of standards – Dock Of The Bay and The Weight. While these covers played a role in keeping the Staples in business, they offer nothing new. Both songs were overexposed and covered by countless others, at this point they are dead horses with “Please Do Not Beat” signs on them.What the Staple Singers achieved is nothing less than amazing. This music is funky enough to satisfy even the most hardcore James Brown devotee, and yet, there’s a lightness and sweetness to it that makes you feel like you just opened a window. The Mississippi jubilee gospel roots are never far away, but they’re never too thick either, the balance is always perfect. If you imagine The Original Five Blind Boys Of Mississippi as a hurricane of redemption, ecstasy, and testifying – The Staple Singers are a stroll in the park on a beautiful spring day. The message is the same – you are blessed, and you owe it to yourself and your creator to behave as if you’re blessed. But the style is different. An extraordinary CD that puts it all together – and – you can dance to it. Pretty hard to top that.

Forget the madness of the stock market, politics, and the housing slump, just groove to the Staples Singers and you’ll feel better. I may be seasoned with a genetic dash of Ethiopia, among many other things, but I totally missed-out on the sounds of these amazing inspired singers. The joy is discovering things later in life. Pop Staples was superb as a santeria practitioner singing the luscious “Papa Legba” in the movie “True Stories” (back when Goodman was “He’s a Man, He’s a Piece of Cake”). This CD ascends to heights beyond that, erasing boundaries and wafting straight up to heaven. Perfect music to paint or play with. Mavis’ version of “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay” should be world famous.

The Staple singers. A staple in Memphis music. Mavis ….. I love her singing! Soul Train and the Midnight Special featuring them black artists back in the day. I was in elementary school staying up late to watch them artists!

This compilation covers every high point of the Staples recording history from “I’ll Take You There” to their soulful rendition of The Band’s “The Weight”. Mavis and Pops brought together a perfect hybrid of R&B and gospel that has a lasting quality unlike any other.

I’m enjoying the cd very much.

Good album

I listen to this everyday. When I am in my car going to run an errand or just cruising, this cd is on and I enjoy it along with the other cd’s on my playlist. I love to enjoy some good gospel by great artists while on the go.
