What Customers Say:

  • Great record for a good price
“It arrived in excellent condition — you can clearly tell it’s original and fully sealed, which I really appreciated. The packaging was great and protected the album perfectly. As for the record itself, it sounds amazing. If you’re a Tame Impala fan, this is definitely a must-have for your collection. The quality is great, the presentation is beautiful, and overall it exceeded my expectations. I’m really happy with this purchase and would totally recommend it.
  • Kevin Parker Does It Again…And Again…And Again
Okay, so I’ve listened to Tame Impala’s excellent new album Currents several times now. Like everyday, twice a day, since last Friday. I can say very confidently that it’s a masterpiece. Kevin Parker has finally decided he no longer has to make albums that sound like they’re being performed by a crusty crew of long-haired, bearded psych dudes jammin’ on a weed and lager high. He’s succumbed to the idea -or realization- that he himself is just as much a producer as he is a singer in a rock band. Since the beginning he’s recorded Tame Impala records by himself, with the same old equipment, with the same idea in mind which is writing great, catchy pop songs. But he did so in a way where those songs could still be looked at as a band and not just Kevin Parker. Currents marks the point in Mr. Parker’s musical career where he gave in to the idea that he’s an amazing studio svengali that can manipulate sound and instrument into something that’s both retro and futuristic. He needn’t worry about creating the illusion of a “band” jammin’. Working with Mark Ronson must’ve given him the push he needed to fully commit to his studio and songwriting prowess. Sure, a broken heart always helps things along, too. This is his skewered pop epic. Currents is a classic pop record. A classic rock record. It’s just a classic. The songs? “Let It Happen” is a nearly 8 minute kinetic, anxiety-soaked, dance track that pulsates urgency and the vibe of “when it happens, let it happen.” There seems to be a million things happening in this song, yet it never feels overindulgent. It seems to encapsulate everything about Tame Impala that I’ve grown to love about them(or him.) “The Moment” could be a b-side from Thriller. I could so completely hear Michael Jackson singing this great track. All the studio trickery with delays, echoes, and ethereal synths are here, but Parker’s voice is much more in the center and pulled up for us to hear. It’s a much more clear-eyed approach to a Tame Impala tune that we haven’t heard before. “Yes I’m Changing” is pretty much an all out ballad. A song about coming to grips with the idea we don’t always stay the same. People grow apart and that’s that. Parker has tinkered with sentiment before, but here he’s embracing it completely. “Eventually” has an “It Feels Like We Only Go Backwards” vibe to it, if you threw in some 80s Genesis on top and coated it with some powdered sugar. One of my absolute favorite tracks is the sublime “The Less I Know The Better”. For me, this song epitomizes a childhood of sitting in the backseat of my mom and dad’s 1984 Honda Accord and those rides being soundtracked by early 80s FM radio. The electric piano, the wurlitzer, the disco-lite beat, and the falsetto are throwbacks to a time in pop music that is looked back upon as cheesy and processed; yet Parker seems to make it relevant and poignant. This song is about as perfect a pop track as they come. “Disciples” comes in and out of the speakers in less than 2 minutes but it’s classic a classic psych rock guitar track. “Cause I’m A Man” is a skewed slow jam. THC-fueled R&B. “Reality In Motion” sounds like something Parker may have penned for Melody Prochet but decided to keep it for himself. “New Person, Same Old Mistakes” feels like a mantra put to stark pop bliss. It’s slow, loping drum beat and intricately placed musical easter eggs make for some great headphone listening.Currents does something quite fantastical in that it takes the uncool and makes it cool again. Those cheesy electric piano sounds you heard in Richard Marx songs in the mid-80s? Well they’re not cheesy anymore. Kevin Parker takes the uncool and makes it vital. Currents is a pop record from another dimension. A dimension where Kevin Parker co-wrote “Billie Jean” with Michael Jackson and smoked up with Alan Parsons. It’s one of the best records of the year.
  • Big Changes, Fantastic Results.
This has quickly become one of my favourite albums of this year and represents a major change in direction from the last two albums. There is more a groove to this album than even “Innerspeaker” and the guitars have either been removed or treated so much that one of Kevin’s trademarks has all but disappeared. If you have been following Kevin over the last year, this really isn’t much of a surprise. Consider his “Like a Version” cover of Andre 3000’s “Prototype” and his work with Mark Ronson and they are very much in line with “Currents”. “Cause I’m a Man” (a real highlight on the album) has been cut from the same cloth as “Prototype” and “Daffodils”.Another huge change is he did not use Dave Friedman on this album. Gone is the distortion and Lo-Fi sound, replaced by a much more cleaner sound. Some of the songs may appear to be simple in structure, but closer listening reveals a lot of detail and flourishes. This album is a real pleasure to listen to on headphones. Some have mentioned Todd Rundgren’s name as an influence and it is still here, but instead of copying Todd, Kevin has synthesized his influence into something new. Kevin openly admitted that “A Wizard a True Star” was a major influence on “Lonerism”. “Currents” shows similarities to “Hermit of Mink Hollow”. Both albums are about break ups and the aftermath (Melody Prochet, Bebe Beaull respectively), both albums were composed, written and performed by a single individual. There are large pop and blue eyed soul components in each album. Todd can only wish he could write a “Reality In Motion” or “Love / Paranoia” song now though his influence on these songs is evident. For those that were disappointed in this album, especially for the lack of guitars, I can understand your view. Tame Impala’s changes have been revolutionary instead of just evolutionary which always alienates some old fans. I personally find this to be a great album.

What Customers Say:

  • Solid Album – Great Pressing
The media could not be loaded. A bit of context:While I’m not at the hundred thousand dollar mark of pro-audio and audiophile gear. I do have a pretty “high-end” audio setup (or at least what most would considered high-end) that comes in just under the $3000 price point. I do spin records that I feel like would blow my mind, but a lot of my collection is sealed. I crack records like expensive wine or buy a pair, and keep one for collecting while one gets spun. I take vinyl collecting, hi-fi music, and this hobby to heart, as it’s one of the things I literally look forward to every month. My collection, which exceeds 1000 records, has been carefully curated, with most records acquired new. My primary sources for vinyl purchases include Amazon, Walmart, Target, and Discogs, with occasional acquisitions from eBay and independent record stores across the US to secure exclusive releases and desired variants.I am meticulous about the condition of the records I receive, prioritizing their display and quality. Records that arrive with bends, tears, or rips are promptly returned and do not remain in my collection. I strive for pristine appearance, playback, and sound quality. Though there are some records that fall through the crack and are just glorified .MP3s thrown on wax.In evaluating records, I aim to provide fair, unbiased, and neutral ratings, considering factors such as pressing quality, performance, production details, and overall packaging. My current setup features a Pro-Ject T2W turntable, which I use with various styluses. While I typically use the Sumiko Moonstone and Rainer. For speakers, I use a pair of Monitor Audios, Silver 100s and a Acoustic Audio PSW-12 sub that is down-firing because I have hardwood floors and front firing without carpet is well, not so great. This is all complemented by various pre-amps that sound killer. I use a Fosi Audio V3 as the amplifier currently to power the Silver 100s. This setup allows for music to come through as close as the artist and mixing/mastering engineer intended. Sometimes that’s good, sometimes…well not so much.Every record in my collection is meticulously cleaned before playing. I use a hydroponic ultrasonic cleaner and maintain them with regular vinyl cleaning tools and brushes. Each record is then stored in anti-static rice paper sleeves and high-quality plastic protectors to ensure their pristine condition is preserved.Sound:The pressing quality of this album is awesome. It’s clean, it’s dynamic, it sounds so huge and fat everywhere. The thing that shines the most on this, is the acoustic guitars and vocals. They’re literally perfect. Like Noah is performing for you directly with just his acoustic. The bass on this thing is insane. In fact the low end rumble on some songs like Stick Season has 40hz chest rumble that will shake your entire house if you have a sub capable of going there. It’s wild. The mix is absolutely killer and it blew my mind a second into spinning it. On a high-end setup, the audio quality is almost too perfect. I can’t speak for a suitcase table type player like a Crosley, though I imagine if this sounds perfect on my setup, it’d at least sound vocally solid on a low end starter setup. Bass will likely be a little weird cause this record has such a low end behind every track that contains huge kicks that hit every second or so. Low End + Low End Table = Meh. I always include a recording with my reviews and you can hear it even through an iphone, just how great it sounds.Packaging:This packaging is your standard major label release packaging. Nothing special. They give you a crap quality inner sleeve that’s shedding so paper debris is everywhere.Looks/Color Variant:So there are a few different variants of this record, it’s also still getting new presses. This is the standard black. So it’s pretty standard. The brown variant that was the popular one looks nice, but I got this one cause $20. I bought this record for the album art, imagine if they did a German Shepard color variant.Issues:None. It’s an amazing pressing, with great looks, packaging, sound quality, and aesthetic. This entire album feels well worth the price I paid. Which was $20 on sale, it’s more than solid with zero issues even at the current price-tag. While I did clean it hydroponically like I do all my records, this pressing had a decent amount of dust or debris from the factory. Which is a common trend with most things you get pressed. No warping, no skipping, pops, clicks, gouges or scratches. Another reason this clears and then some. No issues once again.Overall:The pressing itself and entire package deal is a 7/10 for the standard black pressing. Which is solid. I think there was a fair bit of dust and debris from the internal sleeve, but due tot he price I wasn’t too pressed, threw it in the cleaner and were good to go. Everyone else will need to clean this before giving it a spin if yours arrived like mine.Cost:This was $20 on sale. This is absolutely a steal. At one point these were $50 +during covid, and people couldn’t keep them on the shelf. Since Noah has come down in popularity since the Olivia Rodrigo collab, things have gotten a bit cheaper and the demand for this record I guess isn’t that popular anymore. I’m sure it’s still selling for the $30 or $40 most places are askingMini Album Review:It’s a really good album. I think Noah Kahan fans are going to appreciate it just as they do Busyhead, the most of his collective works are similar sounding but the push here with Stick Season was mega good production and crisp mixing that made this album pop off. When I first heard the hype around Noah I’ll admit I wasn’t a fan, but he grew on me. I think folk-pop is an interesting genre. I’m not the biggest fan. I think Noah is in the niche of artists like Lorde, Hozier, The Lumineers, or maybe even Bon Iver. The fan bases for these artists are die hard and they love everything but to me it’s just an album with a few good singles on it and is cool to spin every now and again. Where the good tracks are really good and catchy but I don’t listen to this a lot due tot he fact I’m just not a big fan of the genre. It’s a sad almost melancholy album with lots of hope. It’s sort of what you would expect folk pop to be catchy life rolls on music. Solid 6.5/10 from me. As someone who’s favorite artists are Pierce The Veil, (older) Fletcher, and Rivals.
  • Plays perfectly!
As a new vinyl collector, I was excited to receive this one! One of my favorite albums and it arrived on time! No creases or chips to the vinyl and I loved the album art!
  • Good songs by a great artist
I love Noah Kahan so buying this album was a great choice. I haven’t been able to listen to the cd yet but I will update the review if there’s any issues.
  • One of the best artists currently
And on vinyl! It all about the lyrics, the lyrics, the lyrics.
  • Great Artist and Product (case arrived in useless condition)
Love this CD! Noah Kahn is an incredible song writer and performs them perfectly. If you like folk music and modern music, then you will enjoy this. The case arrived in poor condition, it was bought new but no wrapping around the case and the case was in many small pieces. The shipping package was fine. I rate the item a 5 and the delivery gets a 5. However, the jewel case is damaged and impossible to use with broken and sharp edges, leaving no way to protect the CD from scratches. I rate that a 0. We should be allowed to rate a product separately from packaging and shipping issues.
  • So happy with this purchase
    Everything I hoped and dreamed.
  • Love this album.
So glad we got this record. It works great, no scratches or warping. Just a smooth play and wonderful vibes.
  • Pretty good ????

  • Love this album, did not love the vinyl
I was super excited to get this album on vinyl as I have listened to it dozens of times since it came out. When it arrived I immediately noticed that the sleeve was ripped and the edge of the vinyl had been rubbing/hitting the packaging and the edge was slightly damaged. It did seem to impact the first song with some slight skipping, and I would’ve been willing to overlook that if the audio levels weren’t also off. The vocals are significantly quieter on the vinyl pressing than other versions, I can barely hear them and the words are indistinguishable. I pulled up the streaming version just to make sure I wasn’t wrong and the levels between the vocals and instruments are very different and much more balanced and clear. I have many other albums that I both stream and listen to on record and have never had this drastic of a difference. I love this album and the music, but something is not right with this pressing and it is not enjoyable so I am returning.
  • Good
    Good
  • Amazing Album
This is my favorite album from Billie. I’ve been listening to her since her When We All Fall Asleep Where Do We Go album and listened to some of her old albums after that, then moved onto every album to this one. Many don’t like this aspect, but I personally love how there are multiple genres in this. I love the change of sound mid song and the edginess to it. The synthesizer and smooth vocals make a good album to make art with.

  • Great Memories Revisited
First off, to be fair I’ve always been a big Oasis fan. This 3 CD collection song set is excellent. On the second CD track13 8s an excellent alternative version of Champaign Supernova.I was curious of the remastered version for sound quality. It’s a good remaster that was done in 2009. Oasis alblum production have always been too compressed which really takes away from sound. Note, they are a very loud band. All in all, this was a great value for the money, for the music, and the listening experience. I highly recommend.
  • Excellent album
This set is so perfect! The album is memorable, yes, but all the details included in it make them better. The vinyls are the sepia marble edition and they’re really beautiful.
  • Great album, good price.
Great album, christmas presents for nephew.

  • Witchy woman
This is actually the first physical album I’ve purchased of her music. I have some of her other albums on my old IPod. I’m not a big fan of the cardboard sleeves. I was kind of surprised by the provocative cover and photos. I like that side of her and her wicker ways. This is a very strong album, and I enjoyed it very much. My favorite song is one of the greats, love it. The other songs are also good, an album you’ll want to listen to again and again.
  • Great voice, great cd
Very good music and composition. “Screaming My Name” is definitely the highlight and the main reason for the purchaseThis is not that the other tracks are mediocre, they’re definitely not. Well rounded music compilation.Recommend!
