I’m glad this book received its own graphic novel version. Jake Parker’s great drawing skill and knowledge of comics shines through, making this book a visual treat and the story more impactful.

The artwork is MUCH nicer than the other graphic novels. With good detail and the dragons dont look weird, they actually look like the artist tried to capture the species specific traits from the author descriptions, and draws them walking, sitting or moving in ways you’d expect a four legged creature to moveWhile areas of the story are abbreviated or changed, it’s all rather minor.

the book was very good, but also had lots of very violent parts. it came in good condition and was a really exciting read.

This is the best wings of fire book ever, the ideas it presents are not seen anywhere else in the series and it’s great. Like Darkstalker is already a fascinating character on his own but now you’ve got this book and you give him Clearsight and Fathom and it just makes him so much better. I really liked some of the philosophical stuff in the book like what would you do if you could see your entire life as a baby? Or if you had superpowers what would their cost be? And how far would you be willing to go to despite that cost? Okay, I’m really trying not to spoil the book now but I had to put my favorite page in there for you guys. The relationship between Darkstalker and Clearsight is just so great and a big reason why I loved this book. Amazing! Go read it, it only took me 3 days to complete and I’m a pretty slow reader lol.

Best art ever!!!

This book is far better than I had ever dared hope. I can tell a ton of effort was put into not only the script but also the art. Since this book is Tui’s darkest work, there is quite a bit of blood in certain scenes. While there isn’t gore (like in the Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees comics), there are deep body cuts, slit throats and one obvious skewering of an evil dragon.Darkstalker’s tale is a greek tragedy. He begins his journey as a decent but troubled teenager. As time goes by, however, he makes darker and darker choices. In the end, he becomes a monster.If you have a taste for the dark stuff and want dragon-based fantasy with teeth, then get this book ASAP!

It was amazing, perfect accuracy to the book, great expressions and detail. One thing I saw was that the artist (not hate by the way) gives them extremely humanoid body poses sometimes, I’m guessing they had a lot of work drawing humans, but they did amazing though! You guys always help me escape the worst times of reality, help me through slow parts of life (like my brothers hockey games) and are just amazing to read, thank you for giving us readers a way to escape from reality into a beautiful and descriptive world! What a sweet little book. It’s called “Always Remember..The boy, the mole, the fox the Horse and the storm.” Anyone from 3 to 83 will love the messages found in the pages of this book. The illustrations are amazing. A must gift for Christmas. ????????????????????????????

The first book touched my heart. I watched the academy award winning best animated short film…and when I saw it was based on a book, I looked it up & ordered it. It was such an incredibly inspiring read with the artwork and writing. Like the author reached out and made a personal copy just for you!When I saw this 2nd book, I didn’t hesitate and immediately ordered a copy. The artwork is even more powerful in this one as color is added to the pages. I love the inspiration to talk about hard things in a way we can all understand and learn from. So sweet. I’ve ordered all of Charlie Mackesey’s books. I love the stories about depending on friends to help get you through dark times. For me..each of the animals represents wonderful character traits we find as we grow spiritually. Mole is my absolute favorite. His quips about his addiction to cake are hilarious. I can relate.???? The watercolor illustrations are beautiful ..the ones in this latest book are amazing! I’ve given this book to many of my friends. This latest one I sent to my daughter who suffered a bad knee injury and is rehabilitating. She loved it and I’m pretty sure it lifted her spirits. Thank you Charlie!

Charlie Mackesy brings back our favorite loving friends the Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse in another beautifully written and illustrated book that is full of wisdom. As you turn each page, you realize how very special this book is, and how much it speaks to your heart. A book to be enjoyed by all age groups, I will reread it again and again, anytime I feel the need for a reminder that we are not alone, and love is all around us even when we feel most lost. Exceptional!!

Owned the original edition for years and bought two copies of this for my school library. The best part? Unlike most graphic novels this has MOST OF TOLKIEN’S TEXT. Yes, if one reads this and all the text therein was can safely and truly say they have read The Hobbit.

I purchased this illustrated edition of The Hobbit, primarily to be a gift to my adult children to read to their children. I have read The Hobbit numerous times over the past 50 years or so, along with the Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion, The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien, and other works by J.R.R. Tolkien. Some have expressed dissatisfaction with this adaptation, whether because some parts were left out or glossed over, or the illustrations weren’t what they expected, or the illustrations had too much dialog covering them. J.R.R. Tolkien himself commented on the reception his books received while he was still alive. He had received letters asking for more information about Hobbits and Middle-earth, and others saying that there was too much. I believe that he understood that no book or story would please everyone on every point, and that one must do the best they can on what they do, and not worry about pleasing everyone. Clearly, this edition does not please everyone, but I don’t believe that it was intended to.There are two releases of the illustrated edition, with two different covers. The copies that I purchased were used, and shipped from private bookstores through Amazon, but not from Amazon. Both releases have the same story illustrations in them, but the illustrations before and after the story are different, Also, the covers were illustrated by two different artists, but the story was illustrated by a third artist.This edition stays true to the tale in J.R.R. Tolkien’s, The Hobbit. Unlike Peter Jackson’s movies, which change the storyline in significant ways, this adaptation does not change any of the storyline, though with only 134 pages, it does not go into great depth. It does address the major points of the story, and illustrates them in clear, well drawn illustrations.I have read The Hobbit onto a set of CD’s that my older grandchildren listened to when they were little and again as their younger siblings listened to them. I know that they will enjoy this illustrated edition, and the parents or older siblings will read the story to the little ones, discuss the pictures and help the little one’s understand the story.Graphic adaptations to stories don’t appeal to everyone, particularly those purists who love the original works and don’t want them changed. I consider myself a Tolkien purist, but can appreciate the quality of the illustrations and the accuracy of this adaptation. I would recommend this illustrated edition to those who want to share The Hobbit with children they hold dear, or for the child in each of us who wants to rediscover the story in a new way.

Bought this for my 12 yr old who loves graphic novels. I still want him to read the OG but this is a great addition to the family collection. Recommend

My kid had a hard time reading this, stated the graphics were unlike other graphic novels and made it difficult to follow. She’s an amazing reader so for her to have this reaction was a little disappointing.

I love reading the hobbit and LOTR so when I saw this I had to grab it. I bought a few manga style books for my niece to read with me when she’s over. She is only 4 but loves ‚reading‘ with me (gotta start them reading young). But she loves going through all the pictures and we can spend a whole night going through this one with her telling me what’s going on in her book. There is a ton of dialogue which is okay for now because when she learns to read bigger books this will work well for her lol. But it’s also fun because when she wants I can read to her too. Fun for the whole family!

First time I ever bought a graphic novel. It is very enjoyable.

It is much too large and thick to be called a book…Seriously, the size is amazing, and the printing is clear. The panels seem to be cut off by one or two millimeters (nothing too concerning) on some edges, though. The binging is strong too!

Best purchase I have ever made this is my reasoning. Volume 1 throws you straight into the brutal world of Berserk, setting the tone with unrelenting violence, mystery, and raw emotion. Guts is introduced as a lone warrior with a haunted past, and Miura’s dark, detailed art immediately pulls you in. It’s harsh and unsettling, but that’s what makes it unforgettable. This volume lays the foundation for one of the most powerful and emotionally complex stories in manga.

I bought this book in May for my boyfriend, he really enjoyed reading it!!! It’s a big sturdy book, pages are clear, good quality.

I bought the Berserk deluxe edition. Found it for under 25 dollars listed as used in good condition. It was better than good!! It was still wrapped in the manufacturer plastic. The only issue was a slight knick on the spine that was easily fixed with a small dot of white glue. Can’t even tell it wasdamaged. What a find!!

Definitely worth the money! My son has been wanting this book series for a few years, but in store each book is $50. This book is exactly as pictured, arrived in great condition, but is only 3/4s of the cost in store. The only issue I had with this order is it was delayed and didn’t ship out until after the expected arrival date.

Trust the hype. An incredible, unique, trippy reimagining of “The Heart and Soul of the Justice League.”I love this series because the writing balances the cerebral and the comedic. It tackles deeply significant religious, societal, and human themes. And the art is stellar. The colors are vibrant and psychedelic. The panels push the boundaries of this format. You simply have to read it for yourself, and be sure to read a physical copy!!It’s not without flaws – There’s an unspoken passage of time in between the first few issues that was slightly jarring, as if I’m not supposed to question it. But that could just be me.If you’re a fan of Martian Manhunter, this is a must read. It’s such a unique book that I highly recommend it even if you’re not a fan of the character… yet!

Another hit in the Absolute series. Great script and fantastic art can’t wait to finish the series. The Absolute universe is the best line in comics these days, and that’s coming from a life long Marvel fan. Read em!

This is my favorite current series. Its entertaining, thought invoking, and the art is beyond amazing. The story kept me coming back for the next issue, and I dont feel that in most comics today.Ready for more on Dec 24!!!

Charlie Mackesy is brilliant! His sketches and watercolors are absolutely gorgeous. His story is timeless, full of wisdom that any age reader will, I hope, appreciate and grow from. As a youngish senior myself, I found that Charlie Mackey’s story reinforced my own beliefs while offering me new insights on the importance of empathy and unconditional love.If I had grandchildren this would be the book I’d read to them over and over again. The simple lessons on the power of love, the importance of self worth, and of seeking the best in others, are woven into such a lovely and inspiring story. No home’s bookshelf is complete without this extraordinary little book.

Not only is this book by Charlie Mackery a wonderful read, it is joy to look at. It is hardbound beautifully but the artwork is amazing and printed on quality paper stock. This is a perfect gift for baby showers also for birthdays. However I now keep copies of this book for many different occasions and people who are facing challenges and need encouragement. I recently spent time in the hospital with a wonderful woman who faced a very difficult hardship. She loved it. It has something for everyone and is so well done that it is perfect to pass on as a family heirloom.

Contains Spoilers.I want to like this. I want to love this. I have a deep love of superman and elseworld stories. So I should live this. Right?Maybe when the next part of the series comes out I’ll understand more of this world.The Kryptonian storyline I loved and could understand. Sort of.But the Earth storyline was confusing.I’m kinda confused how this world works. I understand it’s under a regime of Brainiac. But how did the world lose it’s will under one cooperation? How did Brainiac do that? Without a more majority of the world not resisting. They just happily gave it over and become disposable slaves? Where is the elite class? There has to be the 1% that would live above it all. And why the mining? What are they hoping to achieve? And how is superman hiding so effectively? Where is his dog? Where is his parents? Where are the other kryptonians that were hopefully saved.I hold hope that the second series will make it clearer. Or even the other Absolute series, when I can get the for a discount.

The entire Absolute run has been top notch. This volume is a great way to get into this new universe.

Absolutely in love with this set! It even came with a little double sided poster! The box came in great condition, all books accounted for, and all of them are in pristine condition. This is the first manga set I’ve ever purchased, this is also the first review I’ve ever left, to say I’m more than pleased is an understatement truly.

Great set of books, but the poster did not come with it. My son was very disappointed.

I collect the volumes, I really love the story and think Fujimoto is bold to write what he does for shonnen jump, but it treats the themes with an artistic view similar to cinema, and it gets to be awkward and real.Anyhow, glad it was not censored, I wonder what will they do in the anime.
