This book is insane. I mean that in the best possible way. Carl and Princess Donut are thrust into a deadly game show dungeon run by murderous alien AI, and the results are hilarious, brutal, and surprisingly heartwarming. The action is non-stop, the humor is dark and sarcastic, and the world-building is incredibly creative. If you like litRPG with a heavy dose of satire and a protagonist who’s just trying to survive, this is a must-read. The audiobook version narrated by Jeff Hays will elevate the already fantastic story to another level. Hays’ performance is a masterclass in voice acting, bringing Carl, Donut, and the whole cast of characters to life with distinct personalities and perfect comedic timing. He is Carl. Do yourself a favor and experience Dungeon Crawler Carl through his narration…you won’t regret it!

Easily one of my favorite book series. Started listening to these books back on Audible and story between Carl & Donut is easily one of the craziest ones out there. It’s funny, entertaining, and the content is easily written to be a fun book for adults without having to hard dive into smut to try and keep your attention. Between the floor’s theme and the reveals of many race and class selections, you’ll want to keep reading at times just to see who or what is coming up next, especially when they go to find Elle! Matt has easily written a series that you can sit down and read over and over and Jeff makes the audible version just as good to listen to over and over.

Carl and Donut continue their way through the dungeon, dealing with vindictive interviewers, intergalactic politics, and their own increasing popularity!With an erratic AI, all kinds of odd things happening, and still having no trousers, Carl will have to work hard to keep himself and Donut alive!The second book continues Carl and Donut’s story, as they work their way through level three, the Overworld. We meet some new characters, see some old favourites, and garner a couple of new constants to their team.It’s an engaging read, with a number of laugh out loud moments and plenty of action and adventure (probably too much as far as Carl and Donut are concerned).Not a standalone, it picks up from the end of book one, and leaves us awaiting the start of book three with a book-hook (this isn’t quite a cliffhanger).An entertaining book for speculative fiction/post apocalyptic/LitRPG fans alike.

The second book takes everything I liked about the first and turns the dial up. The world opens wider, the enemies are nastier, and the clever problem-solving is even more fun to watch. It’s also one of the most hilarious entries in the series, with lines that caught me completely off guard. An excellent follow-up that proves this story has serious legs.

To be completely honest, I started reading this book series because I love my brother.He kept talking about Dungeon Crawler Carl (say that five times fast), and sure, it sounded amusing. I mean, a talking cat? A man forced into a dungeon only wearing underwear and too-small pink crocks? Hilarious, but in the way a trailer for a bad movie plays all of the best parts to make you want to watch it: fun to watch but ultimately still not good. But, because I *really* love my brother, I gave it a chance, even while telling myself that RPG stories really aren’t, and would never, be *my thing*.Well, I’m here to tell you that Matt Dinniman must be a powerful magic user. His stats must be off the charts, floor 18 dungeon elite kind of magic. The kind that instantly enthralled us poor, unsuspecting noobs.I found myself unable to put the stupid book down. I told my husband about it, and now he’s finished book four. He told his brother about it, and now he’s reading through book one. I’ve been giving my brother a play-by-play of the books as I’m reading it, and now *he’s* going to go re-read them just so he can remember all of the small details I talk about. It’s worse than the Krakaren and with her MLMs- maybe she should have sold these books instead. The empire she could have built…Anyway, as a former anti-RPG reader, I want to note that while the book series is tiled Dungeon Crawler Carl, the story doesn’t not crawl itself. I was worried about reading book two after book one because I was afraid it would be too stats/info/crawling heavy. I didn’t want a book one structure plastered onto book two, like an attempt to fan-service the readers that get a high off of constantly rolling dice checks in their D&D games. I understand that sometimes you have to roll the dice to see what’s up… But at some point you want a little flare, a little more story, right?Carl’s Doomsday Scenario was a perfect next step. However, at times, the book has so much information about the story it can be difficult to understand what is happening. The actions that the characters make are risky, but overall rational given their circumstances. When the characters make plans for their next move, they are generally stated clearly in the book, which helps for comprehension. When plans are not stated clearly, it leaves the reader wondering and wanting to read more to find out what Carl and his friends are scheming. Throughout the series, it is realized that people are becoming more and more savage to survive. Carl is determined to keep his humanity no matter what happens, which adds an interesting factor to the book as well as making Carl more likable to the reader.Overall, this book is very enjoyable and would be recommended. The plot and characters, along with the small touch of them trying not to go insane, come together really well to make an entertaining and unique story. The Dungeon Anarchist’s Cookbook, along with the entire series, puts a distinctive spin on the aliens-taking-over-Earth trope, and anyone reading this should give it a try.

How does one explain the Iron Tangle? Well, so basically Carl and Donut find themselves in the most messed up version of Chutes and Ladders meets Thomas the Train known to humanity. Coupled with things trying to kill them starting out at the level of “ Halo Brute Wave # 60 on Insanity” or more recently, “ COD Zombies on level 30+”- it’s almost like Matt wanted Carl to have a bad day. The enemies on this level of the dungeon are crazy from the beginning of it, and both the NPC’s and the Crawlers have to figure out a way to beat a system that is stacked so apocalyptically against them, that even the most stout C & D lovers would question if they were going to survive.Also- if you are not reading the back 10 or so pages from Backstage at the Pineapple Cabaret, you are SERIOUSLY missing out.Lived for the crazy story, Hekla & Eva, Katia becoming a total BA, the intro of Prepotente, and so much more.It’s completely fitting that this is Book # 50 for me this year! Loved every second of it. Onto DCC# 4- The Gate of the Feral Gods. ❤️

OK, let me start out by saying that this series is quite fun and an interesting scenario, if not especially original.The books read well and are generally fairly fun to read.For this one, I think it REALLY is the weakest one of the series as the whole “Subway Dungeon” is just a little weird and every time the author writes himself into the corner, the Protagonists suddenly find a new tunnel or some other solution. Lordly loo look at that!But, again, for a bit of dumb, fluff reading, It is pretty good, I would definitely give it about 4 stars overall. In the range of Bill the Galactic hero or something like that.But, there is one thing I really need to point out.Every now and then, the main character says to himself, sotto voce “You won’t break me!!!!” Speaking to to the alien overlords that threw him and the rest of humanity into this ridiculous situation.Which is bizarre, because outside of those moments, he is CLEARLY having the time of his life.In the real world, he is a total loser who’s only real accomplishment is a 4 year stint in the Coast Guard. His GF is cheating on him and he is planning to move out and steal her champion show cat for company. There is NO WAY he could afford to buy the cat from her, so he just plans to steal her.But, once the Aliens throw him into a dungeon, he is is a celebrity with friends and fortune and fame. He gets to go on galaxy wide TV shows and he is famous throughout the universe. But they wont break him.HAHA, Yeah, sure Carl. Whatever you say.

The series really ramps up in his book. While the pacing is uneven at times, the new characters and conflicts more than make up for it. Have to give credit to the author, he really did a great job keeping me on the edge of my seat once the action picked up. Enjoying seeing the development of the different characters, though Donut will never change…I hope!

Enjoy the creative ways they get out of sticky situations. It was confusing but I’m sure that was intentional. I like that kindness and humanity wins the day. I like Carl isn’t a conflicted or anti-hero, he’s taking what he’s got and doing his best to win, without whining or screwing over someone else.

All I can say is read the first book. Read the first couple of chapters. If you’re hooked, I guarantee you’ll make it through the first three in now time. Just fun to read.

There was a lot of action, adventure, strategy, and some new wonderful characters introduced.Carl and Donut are on Level 5 and it is a crazy one. The groups have been split up in to bubbles, and each bubble has four castles that must be won. The teams are trapped in the quadrant for their castle until they can conquer it, and then they can help other quadrants. Once all four castles are conquered, their bubble will “pop” and they can help other quadrants. Between the weird camel-humans who have serious attitudes, the bomb-dropping gnomes, and all the low level characters they are stuck with, this level is going to be a serious challenge.I enjoyed this book a lot more than the previous one where they were in the Iron Tangle. This has a lot more adventure and action and ties in even more to the broader alien world. We get to meet a lot of fun new characters. Even better, Carl gets to continue on his quest to screw up the dungeon as a whole.If you’ve enjoyed the first three books in the series, you will enjoy this one. I continue to love the characters, amazing world-building, action, and humor in these books. I really don’t have a lot more to say aside from the fact that this series is awesome and you should read it. Make sure to read the Epilogue all the way through because there are some crazy plot twists introduced there.We listened to this on audiobook and the audiobooks are well done. They use multiple voice actors and sound effects. I will say that as a family, we have had some issue with the sound balancing on these audiobooks. We normally listen to these in the car while driving and have had issues not being able to hear the AI voice or in this case the voices of the characters when they were underwater. We ended up having to turn the audiobook way up in volume to hear those parts. While I applaud the effort to make the book sound more immersive, the sound really needs to be balanced out to the same volume. This has been an issue with all of the audiobooks in this series.My Summary (5/5): Overall this is a wonderful continuation of the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. This book is back to all the action, adventure, world-building, and fun characters that we saw in the first two books. My whole family really loves these books (keep in mind my son is 17 years old and these are more mature reads). In fact my teenager paid me to buy books 5 and 6 so he can start listening to those books immediately. If you are a fan of action adventure fantasy with amazing world-building and you like dungeon crawls you will love this series. Even if you aren’t a fan of any of that you will probably love this series and should check it out.

Wow—this installment takes the series to a whole new level. The plot keeps getting more intricate, weaving together action, political maneuvering, syndicates, borant, gods, and countless background threads—all while maintaining the relentless chaos of the dungeon crawl itself. The worldbuilding feels deeper and more expansive than ever, and every layer adds richness to the story. And that epilogue? Let’s just say it’s extremely intriguing and sets the stage for even bigger things to come.Fantastic job yet again by Matt Dinniman.

The plot is well developed, the pacing is good, and the humor is excellent. There’s really only two core characters to get attached to, with the others bouncing in and out of the series as needed. It’s a lot of fun!

The Gate of the Feral Gods is an absolutely wild ride. I’ve been following the Dungeon Crawler Carl series, and this one somehow manages to crank up the chaos, humor, and emotional gut-punches all at once. The worldbuilding expands in really unexpected ways, with more focus on the darker, almost mythic side of the dungeon, but it still keeps that razor-sharp wit and over-the-top action that makes the series so addictive.Carl and Donut’s dynamic is as strong as ever — ridiculous, heartwarming, and snarky in all the right ways. The story balances tension and comedy perfectly, and just when you think you know what’s coming next, it surprises you.If you’ve read the earlier books, this is a must. If you haven’t — start from book one and prepare for one of the most fun, insane, and surprisingly emotional series out there.

I seldom read novels, let alone a series of novels. This is my first review for the DCC books, and this is where I believe the story takes all the way off. It is a fast-paced, quick quipped, complex, and humorous run through the floor. I haven’t laughed so hard or been so hooked on a series since I discovered Deadpool as a kid. The writing has the perfect blend of crass, snark, elegance, and heart that I didn’t know I was missing in my literary experiences. Thank you, Matt, for all your hard work. They will not break us.

The story and character development are excellent. I am always looking forward to what insane situations Carl and Princess Donut are going to get into and the even more insane plans that Carl comes up with to get them out of them.I have enjoyed every book in the series and am very much looking forward to the next installment.

I hope the next one comes sooner but you can’t rush greatness. Did a great job handling all the story lines.

The book is well written. However, it was a disappointment. Introducing new characters, the direction of the storyline, and Rezkin’s personality change makes this the last book in the series I’ll read. I really looked forward to Book 7, but the adventures and friendships that made the earlier books so fun was lost.

Better than book 6 but still doesn’t emulate the writing of the first few books. Rezkin has too much going on and it still feels rushed. I’m looking forward to book 8 more than I was looking forward to this book after reading book 6.

This was another great book in an amazing series, the wait was long but the story unfolding makes it worth re reading. The characters are well developed and thought out and the action scenes are top notch. If you haven’t read any of these books, you really should start at the beginning, you won’t be disappointed…. Unless you don’t read them.

Not even close to the quality of the first 5 books. Feels like she is under a contract requirement to get one turned out and so she did her “D Grade Quality” enough to not fail but feels like she doesn’t care about us followers or the characters anymore. I’m done with this series now, her book 6 and 7 were and are very disappointing. Not worth the 14 dollars actually not even worth .99 cents. I suggest going over to the “He Who Fights With Monsters by Shirtaloon it is a series with a better caring about followers author and is 13 books strong.

THE BEST IN THE SERIES SINCE BOOK 4!!!!!!!!!!This was a prime example of why I fell in love with this series! Finally the perfect balance of adventure, world building, politics, and combat that made Kingdoms and Chaos such a masterpiece. Definitely a top 3 book in the series. Loved the focus on Wes as well as Rezkin’s inner journey! Cant wait for the next installment!!!

This series really peaked with the second book. Now there’s just too much going on and all the politics that doesn’t involve Rezkin just have me confused. This whole demon war really took the series on a wild goose chase that it can’t recover from. I’m not sure if I’ll continue following the series.

I bought the trilogy. All together they were the best books I’ve read in a while. Separately, they were not perfect but I’m okay with that. I read a lot and tend to dislike books that show no character growth, or have wishy-washy villains, or have insta-love, or have love result from H saving h from sexual violation, or suffer from deus ex machina. I don’t particularly care if something is obvious because sometimes I want to read something that is easy and obvious. My brain doesn’t want to be challenged 24/7. Also, I love good dialogue- dialogue makes a romantic connection feel real rather than insta-lovey. Is dialogue action-packed? No. Does it slow down pacing? You bet. At this point, you’re probably wondering where this review is going? Well, I think that knowing more about me as a reader might make it easier to see/ relate to my views for this book.Now the fun stuff! ***SPOILERS***Feyre (the h):This character is complex and goes through several changes throughout the series. In this book, she has her ups and downs. Initially, she is hardened, street-smart and capable with a cynical eye toward romance and happiness and outright hatred and prejudice towards the fae. She also has love for a family who seems to dislike and neglect her. She is not very likeable. But does that make a book bad? No. (Hello, Wuthering Heights.) It is, however, more rare to write an h this way because readers in general tend to want to relate to an h, particularly when it’s written in 1st person perspective. So many readers might not be able to get into the story because of their dislike for Feyre. When the far remove her burdens that largely drove who she was, Feyre changes. She doesn’t have a purpose to keep her going, to shape her. The pacing of the book suffers a bit here while she tries to sort herself out. She tries to make love and painting her new purposes, and while she has the determination to do so, the fit just isn’t right. Does this make the book bad? No. While many people won’t like to read about an h that seems somehow “less” this downward arc was necessary to fuel the inevitable reversal toward a more fitting purpose. It drags a bit for sure, but makes the reversal feel more right, more true later on. Did she rush into something with Tamlin. Her feelings do feel a bit rushed but ultimately fit her as a character- going all-in has always been her style from the start. In that sense, the character is consistent. Also, her reluctance to voice her love made me think that deep-down she might have confused love with gratitude. Tamlin was her savior in many ways. For all of these reasons I liked Feyre.Tamlin (the H):Tamlin was the 1st high fae Feyre had any meaningful interactions with in the 1st book. I never really liked him as an H. He was pretty but basically hollow. He struggles with uncontrolled rage. He had just as much hatred for humans as Feyre did for fae, and his elitist attitude was hinted at throughout this book (though not substantiated until book 2). He also adheres to fae tradition in weird ways- his willing participation in the Fire Night ritual is distasteful because it borders on infidelity (especially since we later learn in book 2 that he can designate a replacement). Tamlin has from the beginning been primarily focused on Tamlin. When things get tough, he sends Feyre away; he doesn’t consult or listen to her, but just decides, hinting at his desire to treat her like a possession rather than a person. When he gets a moment of freedom under the mountain he attempts to have sex with Feyre (his wants) instead of trying to escape with or save her (her needs). When Feyre is dying, he can only bring himself to beg for her life, he isn’t moved into action. All of these things hint that Tamlin is not a good fit for Feyre. Many readers will not like to read about an H that is so lacking/ ill-fitted. The beautiful part is that these things are only ever hinted at in the writing, not outright stated so you will want to root for Tamlin while also feeling something inexplicably lacking in him. I thought about it lots before I picked up book 2, where my thoughts regarding Tamlin were cemented. Tamlin could not have been written more likeable though. If he was the perfect H then Feyre falling for Rhys in book 2 would have felt like a betrayal, instead of fated, and then Feyre would’ve been worse than unlikable but detestable as an h.Lucian:A secondary character who is both interesting and flawed. He hates Feyre at first, but ultimately warms up to her. He is loyal to a fault, siding with Tamlin over and again, even when he thinks it is wrong to do so. A trait that becomes more obvious as the series progresses. Lucian has potential.Rhysand (villain/other H):Rhysand was the most interesting character in the book (although Nesta was a close second). Rhys was the evil queen’s right-hand man. He has done terrible things. Yet, when we meet him (not my favorite bit of the book because of the gross circumstances I do not favor, as mentioned above) there is evidence that he is not all that he seems. He appeared to be interested in Feyre romantically, but the “why” part is not there. Also, it is not 100% certain WHAT drives his actions. He is a mystery. Why did he decide to help her time and again? Why, if he likes her did he decide to put her through nightly humiliation? Why use her to torment Tamlin? He is clearly not 100% a good guy. He is complex.Other things people often talk about:The sex. There is a lot more sex in this book than in other “YA” books. It seems like that has somehow lead to some amount of controversy. I find that notion very strange as many eons ago when I was a teen, sex was a big part of being a teen- whether or not to have it, who had it, when they had it where and how, what type of birth control to use, etc. Suggestions that a book would have any type of influence on those things are just silly. Teens have sex. It’s a fact. Wishing it otherwise does nothing productive. Also, the sex in this series is not “explicit.” Every time I see this adjective used, it makes me laugh. I have read many romances and even some erotica. If you truly want something “explicit” check out erotica- phrases like “the apex of my thighs” or the “the length of him” are not “explicit.”The copious dialogue. Lots of readers don’t like the extended dialogue and also wish to have seen more of the fae world. I am just guessing here, but I am thinking that they are meaning that they wanted less talk and more fairy magic. But, fae are known for more than just their magic. Another key attribute of fae has to do with their words- being able to only speak in rhyme, only speak the truth, answer any question posed, etc. This attribute can be very interesting (see Mortal Instruments series or Dresden Files). And indeed it was put to use throughout the series, sometimes well done other times much too dues ex machina for my liking. Dialogue can be a type of action when done well enough. In this book, it probably could’ve been better but was good enough for me.The Fire Night and rape culture. Honestly, I am bothered by this one. I am never fond of rape or sexual violence as a plot device which is why I tend to avoid historical romances almost entirely. In this book, I think the Fire Nite ritual was used in part explain a bit about fae magic and in part to push forward the Feyre-Tamlin relationship while introducing Rhys. I think it both went too far and not far enough. Tamlin’s participation cheapens his feelings toward Feyre, just imagine someone saying, “I love you, truly, but I need to go have sex with someone else.” And then he came back to Feyre AFTER HAVING SEX WITH SOMEONE ELSE, and bit her to clearly show his possession of her. It doesn’t sit well, does it? Additionally, the three fae with bad intentions suggest to Feyre that fae tradition gives them the right to violate her just because she is present. That makes all fae seem brutal and detestable. Thus, it goes too far. But, what about the converse? The Fire Night ritual is supposed to be necessary to ensure the bounty of the land for the next year. But, the spring court is the only court that has/ observes this ritual en mass? That does not really make sense to me. The need for this ritual, especially considering mated bonds are a rare and extremely valued thing, is not properly explained. It really could’ve been omitted from the book and is one of the few things about the book that I truly did not like.The masks. Some people like them, some don’t. The reason given for them was that they were yet another obstacle to a human girl falling in love with Tamlin. I really didn’t mind them but I did not like Feyre’s reaction to the removal of the masks. While it was consistent with her character (she always had an eye for pretty guys), I thought that it cheapened her character to have her feel relieved that Tamlin was so pretty without his mask. It was very superficial, and further proof that there wasn’t much of substance to their “love.”While book 1 is my least favorite of the series, I still really liked it and will definitely re-read it again. Books 2 and 3 get even better and I am looking forward to further writings as well. Hopefully we will get to see what happens to Nesta, Elaine, the 6th queen, and Bryaxis.

*SPOILERS*I’m about a third into the book and man…I cannot bring myself to fully like (FMC) Feyre ???? I mean, come on bro…accept the help when you need it!!! I am begging! I swear to God, she is literally doing anything she can to get herself killed. She’s got a very “Even if I die, I died trying so I don’t care” mindset, even tho she very clearly has options OPENLY OFFERED to her, but is taking them for granted (esp surprising when she knows poverty firsthand). For someone who’d been forced to grow up, hunt, sell hide and whatnot, take care of her family BY HERSELF, she is shockingly immature.The character development is SO slow on her part and annoying; I’m kind of just gritting my teeth to get through the book now. I absolutely adore and commend the MMC for the patience he has for her, her blown-outta-proportion reactions, and her tunnel vision method of looking at things. I would’ve just let the Bogge have at it.Not to mention the fact that she projects her trauma onto everybody else and treats them with so much bias; she gets unreasonably defensive with everyone EXCEPT for the people who actually deserve it (ie: her family, esp big sis Nesthead). I get that Feyre’s been conditioned to see things a certain way, but girl please…unclench for just a minute my god ???? I feel so bad for my mans Tamlin. he’s the only reason why I’m adding a 3rd star to this review (well, him, Lucien, and Sarah’s writing actually). I love that he’s not super alpha like a lot of these romance books tend to be; he’s patient, a good listener, open minded, and so willing to help FMC with anything at…pretty much any time. Prob one of my fav MMCs to date tbh—and he’s not even the usual type I go for. I want to DNF just bc of her, but I won’t for how beautifully written the book is and for Tam. Big props to him. He and Lucien are carrying this book for me.P.s. Also, Sarah writes amazingly. Wow.Edit: I’m giving this book 4 stars. I cried 3 times. Sarah actually writes like a god.

This is a phenomenal installment in the Dungeon Crawler Carl series! It’s the fifth book and absolutely should not be read out of order.Carl, Donut, and the gang start out on the sixth floor. Aside from being even more deadly and dangerous, the dungeon now includes alien tourists who can pay to join and hunt the crawlers. At the end of the floor, all surviving crawlers and hunters (as well as a few special guests) will gather for a party dubbed The Butcher’s Masquerade, which of course, won’t be horrifying or catastrophic at all.This book was amazing! Right from the start, it’s action packed and intense, full of scheming and political intrigue. Even though we get Carl’s point of view, there’s still plenty of mystery and surprise reveals. I love how nothing ever goes as expected, even when it seems like we know the plan. This installment gives more depth to several background characters and pays off on storylines that have been building for multiple books.I absolutely loved this one! It ends on a cliffhanger that made me desperate to start book six, The Eye of the Bedlam Bride.Plot: 5/5Writing: 5/5Narration: 5/5My Enjoyment: 5+/5

Book arrived as ordered, no issues.If you are a DCC fan, this book is exactly what you need – more of Carl and Donut’s adventures and attempts to survive the dungeon.If you have not already read the series, start with the first book rather than starting here.Endlessly quotable, laugh out loud and poignantly emotional, top tier writing. This book has Doughnut in perhaps my favorite class of all, a Bard. No, sorry, thats wrong: not a bard. A DIVA. She gets a headset and autotune and is absolutely purrfection as a singing cat. A quote:”Because Donut sounded like a helium-drunk cat being crushed by a steamroller when she attempted to sing, that was why. And even though she wasn’t that bad of a dancer, when it came to making a song emerge from that tone-deaf gullet of hers, her rhythm was that of a drunk, three-legged donkey trying to negotiate its way down a set of ice-covered stairs.”Some pretty emotional scenes in this one, including a long-awaited confrontation with a character mentioned but not seen in the dungeon. Some big deaths (both heart breaking ones and satisfying ones), new characters join the already huge cast, an epic pet show and background politics start to have more foreground impact. This book will only make you want to immediately start the next.Story is as infectious as double enthusiastic gonorrhea, and the DCC addition spreads just as easily.

I wasn’t sure I could keep reading these. Even though I am enjoying them, I still wonder if we’ll have to read 18 books to get to the end?Despite the length (Harry Potter syndrome?) this was really good. The plot keeps getting better and the multiple characters add so much depth.I was kinda disappointed at the*spoiler*Result of finding Beatrice. I was sure she’d play a much bigger part. So that was kind of a letdown, and*Another spoiler*Level seven sounded cool… I’m sorry we missed it.Oh, well.On to book six.

I feel weird about giving this 4/5 same as the previous one(s). The 5th book is clearly the best of them all.The story is coherent without being overly complex. There is action, reaction and danger, along with loss.Donut is again meaningful and important and Samantha is a unique character that adds some little spice to the narrative.Carl continues his descent into the path of revenge. A critical mistake not to explicitly mention and keep mentioning how class selection influences the character. That would have explained things so well. He is more aggressive now and it suits this new persona.He now plays the long and the short game and things make sense.The bad guys are ok. Nothing too memorable but still they don’t feel overly rushed. They are good enough.I should also note down that this is the first book of the series where it tickled emotionally. That was a surprise.The 5th installment of this story was the best read in my eyes. The most coherent story out of all. You are here – maybe you had some doubts after the 4th one, well, don’t think too much, get on with this book! I don’t give 5/5 because while this was a very fine read, it’s not a memorable one – probably the whole series is more of a fun read than something I will never forget
