CthulhuEnhances AndroidPrintShare is worth having if you want to print directly from your phone or tablet. You have a lot more control over output if you email or transfer your documents to a PC but PrintShare shines when you need to print certain content (call logs, messages, calendar entries, contacts) for which transfer may be difficult and output quality is not an issue.A few brief additional remarks:- PrinterShare adds a sometimes needed capability because, unlike more mature and much larger operating systems, Android does not support printing natively – after all, who would have thought 2 years ago that people may want to print ‘stuff’ off their phones or tablets?- Not being integrated into the operating system explains PrinterShare’s peculiar behavior. Instead of printing from within an app or by selecting ‘print’ from an object’s list of available properties and actions, PrinterShare runs as a separate app that provides print support for a defined set of apps/objects: pictures, web pages, calendar, contacts, messages, call log, Gmail, Google docs and documents. In other words, you must run PrintShare every time you want to print something.- The app supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, remote printers and cloud printers. Of these I tested the first 2 without problems. My printers were located and identified quickly, drivers were loaded and the output quality (printer’s default) was good. However, the drivers ability to control a printer did not go much beyond sending the doc to the printer. Cloud and remote printing may provide additional flexibility but I haven’t tested them.- I had no problem printing images, PDF, Word and text files on an Epson Artisan and an HP OfficeJet Pro printer but I don’t know how many or which specific printers are supported or which printers are not supported.Given that the app adds a needed capability to the operating system I can’t hold the its developers responsible for lack of deep integration with the OS. This would not be needed if Android provided print support itself. The app’s inability to fully control printers is also no surprising given that PrintShare’s publisher has limited resources. Its limitations noted, this should be a 5-star for anyone who must be able to print off an Android device.–>>Brush your teeth, it’s the law!<<

D. NiemeierStopped working after 60 daysI purchased this app for my Kindle Fire, and it worked fine for about 60 days. It would detect local printers over WiFi at home and at my office, and it did a reasonable job of finding the appropriate drivers. Printing was quick and generally accurate for Word documents. I didn’t try other types. After about 60 days, the rendering document screen showed only a blank page and only a blank page would print. I tried reinstalling the app, but that did not change things. I tried different printers and different documents with no success.Of note, it appears there was a recent update to the document rendering function. This automatically installed when I started the app. I am suspicious that the update broke the app on the Kindle Fire.Update to my review:I have be contacted by technical support at Dynamix. They asked that I try some new Word documents, which I created on my PC using Word 2007 and side loaded. The documents would still not render and print. They asked that I send them copies of a document that would not render and print. They said they were able to render and print the document using their test Kindle Fire devices. They sent me an app crash log application that I ran after not being able to render or print. I emailed them a log file. I have heard nothing for a week.Be aware, this app may work with some Kindle Fires, but there is apparently something with either my particular device or my installed applications that causes it to fail to render Word documents.Additional update:I still have not heard back from Dynamix. I have tried additional steps to correct the problem, including stopping and uninstalling all unessential and 3rd party apps, clearing the cache and reinstalling PrinterShare and trying documents created with different versions of Word. Nothing has helped. I can render and print jpg’s and contact information, but nothing else. I have asked for a refund, but have not received a response.

Amazon CustomerGreat App!I have been wanting an app for my kindle fire hd for quite a while. I read the reviews on this app and didn’t want to spend $12.95 if it wasn’t going to do what I wanted. However, when it went on sale for $4.95, I thought that I would take a chance. It works perfectly with my mobile bluetooth printer as well as as my regular e-printer. Setup was really easy. They have you download updated drivers and something else to be able to print documents and then you just scan for the printer and then select it and when you tap on a document, a window will come up for you to choose which program you want to use to open it. You pick printershare and it is ready to print once you click on print. Works great. Can print from websites, too. Glad I took the chance. It is back to $12.95 now.An Update: Still love this app. I have had a couple of updates lately and the only thing that is an inconvenience is you have to download the document file again to print documents. When you click on a document, and then the PrinterShare icon, it instructs you to download something in order to print the documents. Never have to do it again until an update, then you have to repeat the process. Wish it would stay installed so you didn’t have to repeat doing it after each update. Keep finding out new ways to use this. If you want to print a web page, click on ‘share’ and then click on the PrinterShare Mobile icon. Works great. And I can print my e-mails if I go to the hotmail or yahoo website and print from there instead of from my e-mail app on my kindle (you can’t print from there). Overall, it is a great app and I would highly recommend it!
