  • Now I know where to go in the US
A perfect 5000 state travel. I’m retired and I wanted a little bit of history on each state and it’s very jampacked with more information and more places to go than you could possibly imagine. It’s very thorough and. Perfect for young /ol timer travers around the USA.
  • Very informative!
Such a great read! I picked up so many interesting facts about different states and now have a list of unique places to visit. Love that it points out spots you’d probably overlook otherwise.
  • A Great Help In Many Ways!
Lots of great ideas for each state. Pictures and information when traveling to each state. Wish I had this sooner. The pictures are in full color and very crisp. The information helped us to look further into areas of interest and was able to find other ideas as well. Asked to our gravel adventures! It also helped our grandchildren learn about other states as well.
  • Amazing book with wonderful information and pictures. But choose hard cover, not the spiral bound.
When a friend indicated that after many worldwide trips, she would like to travel more in the USA, I decided to give her this book. And what a book is! It has so much information about what to see and do in each state, and provides amazing photos. It serves as a travel guide, and an impetus to see the country, whether one drives or flies. The book comes in hard cover or spiral bound. I thought the spiral would be lighter, and it is. But the spiral is flimsy. The book that arrived had the spiral a bit untangled at the end, and no matter what I did, I couldn’t put it back in place. I would suggest to get the hard cover version. It will probably last longer than this spiral version.
  • Perfect gift for the traveler – or the would-be traveler
The spiral binding is a great feature. The pictures are inspirational, and the details make planning a breeze.
  • Great for planning vacations
    Easy to read
  • My book is printed upside down
So the book is fantastic, it feels good, beautiful print…except my copy is upsidedown on the inside. The outside looks great but when you open it, the entire inside is upsidedown and starts with the end of the book. Hilarious mistake but I will be getting a replacement lol
  • Great idea book for the road tripping family member
great gift for the road tripper who has everything!

  • Fascinating, thought-provoking, informative and entertaining all at once!
This book was recommended by a friend, it isn’t the kind of book that I normally read. Often, when I read nonfiction I read a chapter or so at a time and mix it in with some fiction that holds my interest a little better. The Comfort Crisis by Michael Easter, however, grabbed me just like good fiction does. I didn’t want to put it down after just one chapter, but instead just kept on going.Lots of good research and information on the importance of spending real time in nature, the benefits of boredom now and evolutionarily, hunger, recognizing impermanence and acknowledging the reality of death, evolutionary biology and how the way humans evolved still effects us, and the benefits of exercise and what kind of exercise is best. Overarching all of this is the idea that humans evolved to live in discomfort and how the comfort that we experience in our modern society is making us sick.I found the whole thing fascinating and will be turning in my library copy of this book and ordering a hardcopy for myself so I can reread it and make notes. Thought-provoking and informative, while still being entertaining. 5 solid stars
  • Great Experience with this book
I did enjoy reading this book. deep study and experiences and generous sharing to readers.I definitely want to recommend this book to friends and family.
  • TCC Review
This book was very interesting, and thought provoking. I will explore further many of the concepts discussed in this book
  • capturing discomfort and providing data to support the “why” to do it
This is truly an amazing book! Michael explained how he prepared for the Arctic trip. I especially liked the part of how he learned how to shoot, which enabled him to bring down the elder caribou. That event was dramatic with its powerful description of how Michael and Donnie discussed how Michael felt about shooting the caribou.I was also impressed by the amount of scientific reference material he used for the documentation of his story. The book is a real wake-up call for all of us who are interested in learning how to live and to get up from our complacency. Well done.
  • Impactful read on the benefits of pushing ourselves…
“Comfort Crisis” by Michael Easter is a thought-provoking exploration into the modern paradox of comfort and its impact on our overall well-being. Arguably, it was the most influential book I’ve read in quite some time. After reading it, I sent copies to all my young-adult-aged kids and several friends – one of whom was so impressed, that he bought a case of the books and passed them out to his team at work!Easter challenges the prevailing narrative that an excessively comfortable lifestyle leads to happiness and fulfillment. With a blend of scientific research, personal (oftentimes humorous) anecdotes, and cultural observations, he makes a compelling case for embracing discomfort as a path to growth, resilience, and a more meaningful life.”We are living progressively sheltered, sterile, temperature-controlled, overfed, under-challenged, safet-netted lives. And it’s limiting the degree to which we experience our “one wile and precisous life,” (as poet Mary Oliver put it.””But a radical new body of evidence shows that people are at their best – physically harder, mentally tougher, and spiritually sounder – after experiencing the same discomforts our early ancestors were exposed to every day.””Comfort Crisis” is a refreshing and timely reminder that true fulfillment often lies outside our comfort zones.Highly recommend!
  • A symphony of science and storytelling.
This book offers a thought-provoking exploration into the modern paradox of comfort and its impact on our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Easter challenges readers to reconsider their relationship with comfort and the consequences of an overly cushy lifestyle. Through engaging storytelling and insightful research, he delves into the benefits of discomfort, whether it’s physical challenges like cold exposure or mental discomfort through practices like mindfulness. Easter’s writing prompts readers to reflect on their own habits and encourages them to embrace discomfort as a pathway to growth and resilience. With its blend of science, philosophy, and practical advice, “The Comfort Crisis” is a compelling read that invites readers to step out of their comfort zones and into a more fulfilling life.

  • Perfect Gift & Excellent Reference
I purchased the Rand McNally Large Scale Road Atlas 2026 as a gift for my dad, and it was a big hit. The maps are clear, detailed, and very easy to read, which makes it especially helpful for planning trips or just browsing routes the old-fashioned way.Beyond the maps themselves, it includes plenty of useful travel information and points of interest, which add real value. My dad has already commented on how much easier it is to follow compared to smaller atlases or digital apps. There’s something about flipping through the pages that feels reliable and timeless. This is a high-quality, thoughtfully organized atlas that’s great for road trips across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Highly recommended for anyone who still loves having a physical map in hand.
  • Easy to read these maps.
My husband and I travel quite a bit since we have retired and I missed being able to look at the big picture when traveling by car. I also have difficulty with small print. I love this atlas and can clearly see items on the maps. It also has insets of city maps for large one which is also helpful. Plus, have it in a spiral binder makes it easier to manage. It is quite large and more than covers my lap, but is still manageable in the car. It’s a great travel addition that shows me more than a navigational system can, even though we still u se our phone map apps for directions.
  • This ROAD ATLAS it GREAT!
EXCELLENT ATLAS super LARGE DETAILS….Best thing to have on a road trip…navigation is GREAT but it is nice to have something that you can rely on when you have NO CONNECTION between your car connection and the space satellite…even if you have the BEST NAV money can buy, of course this excludes a satellite phone…I speak from experience.
  • Great US Road Atlas but it is MUCH BIGGER than a breadbox!
It is easy to read, features large print, and provides a wealth of information. I enjoy examining maps during our travels, but I found this atlas to be too large for my needs. I should have checked the dimensions before placing my order. Additionally, the Canadian content is not very detailed, which was disappointing.
  • Great atlas!
I bought this product before I took a road trip from the Midwest to the west coast. I hadn’t actually used one in a couple of decades. The maps were easy to read and had closeups of major cities. I like that it is spiral bound, which makes it easier to use. Overall a great product!
  • GREAT, GREAT, GREAT map! Love the larger print and ease of use when ‘net drops on the road.
I love using paper maps when we travel. You think, with wi-fi and internet everywhere, that you don’t need them, because th ‘net DOES HAVE PROBLEMS that you can’t fix while driving. I’ve had to go to Ohio twice this year (almost 1,000 miles one way), and I am the one who scopes out the obstacles and road changes while partner drives, and the interstates are changing routes everywhere with all the construction. I wouldn’t go on a trip without a paper map book anymore. I was using one from 2016 before I found this one. Not a trucker, so I didn’t need the truck one, but this one is GREAT! Please tell the company not to quit making paper maps with larger print! There ARE people who use them, and they need the up-size!
  • Great map.
The best, the Gold standard and helps put GPS in prospective.
  • Price.
Great information and easy to read.

  • Gets me where I am going.

  • Great but big.
It’s quite big! My dad absolutely loves it and he uses this whenever traveling ir planning to travel. As I mentioned it is rather big so it won’t fit in a glove compartment. The size makes it easier to read and it has bits of info about the areas it maps out.

  • Great book!
I have been soooo excited to get this book and I’m loving all the recipes! I read through it and its a great book but I’m really upset that the book came Damaged (just the board part not the pages) I think putting some weight on the board may correct the curl it has but it doesn’t feel worth it to wait for a new one especially if that one could just come damaged as well. Loooove the book!!!

  • Best Travel Guide 2026
Very informative and tons of information! Great detail and a great book to help you plan your next trip. Very well organized by parks, restaurants, character dining and tons more. I highly recommend this book
  • The ultimate book for a magical adventure
This book is the ONLY one you will need to plan your Disney World vacation. It gives you a detailed timeline and everything you need to know to pick your accommodation and the best restaurants. The touring plans in the back of book are fantastic. I have used this book 3 times and it helped to make my vacation stress free so I could enjoy myself knowing that I prepare ahead the best possible way. Worth every penny.
  • Great information
Great information to make your trip to Disney World the best it can be!
  • The updates are really helpful, and the old notes make a great keepsake
Love these! They help a good deal with planning, and we keep the old ones as notes from our trip. A keepsake without being a keepsake!
  • Only guide you need
With all that changes at Disney we never plan a trip without it.
  • Font is too small to read!
The font size is TOO SMALL!! After spending $26 for the printed copy so I can enjoy flipping through pages, I CANNOT read the small text. And it would be ANOTHER $13 for the Kindle version.Produce something that is legible. This is useless to me. I have never had this problem with any other book or publication I have purchased.Waste of $$
  • Still the Best Guide Book to WDW but Not as Engaging as it Once Was
The last edition of this guide book I owned was the 2014 edition, and it was a joy. The authors had a jocular and familiar tone to their writing, with a heavy dose of sarcasm, that made one wish to read the book cover to cover – even parts that didn’t apply to your trip. The guide was illustrated with the line drawn cartoons that would make me cry with laughter. In effect I could enjoy a visit to Disney without ever leaving the house. The 2026 edition of the book contains all the most important touring and lodging information, hints, and tricks – but the new author wrote the joy out of the book. No more cartoons, no more sarcasm. The whole book is much more condensed than it once was, leaving out some reader quotes and ancillary information. It’s still a vital resource and reference for visiting Walt Disney World, but it is no longer the engaging read it once was.

  • A Journey for the Soul
This is a profound narrative. While it is about hiking the length of the Grand Canyon, it’s much more. It is about self discovery and realization and how the human spirit can overcome seemingly impossible odds. As the author and his friend initially enter the Canyon they do so with confidence, hubris and some arrogance. But nature has a way of humbling us all and they soon learn that hiking the Grand Canyon is not like any other hike. Its exhilarating, frustrating, almost impossible at some points and it pushes the hiker to limits that hardly seem bearable. The narrative of this book is vivid and well written. You feel the frustrations and challenges that they faced daily. Its a vicarious thrill and a reason I read books like this. I can’t even imagine the kind of tenacity and endurance it would take to complete a hike like this. I appreciate that there are people though who do these hikes so I canread about them and gain a deeper appreciation and understanding of not only human nature but these miraculous natural wonders that we are so blessed to have in this country. My admiration for these hikers and this book knows no bounds.
  • A Fascinating adventure story!
Kevin Fedarko has written one of the most fascinating books I have ever read—it was so disappointing to come to the end—I wanted the adventure to go on forever. The book is hard to classify. Yes, it’s a how-to manual—a detailed instruction manual on how to hike the Grand Canyon (more specifically, what NOT to do when hiking)—but it is so much more—a description of river running on the Colorado, a history of hiking the Canyon trails; an account of Native American (specifically Havasupai and Hualapai) influence in the Canyon; an introduction to various branches of science of the Canyon—geology, archaeology, biology, botany, zoology; an explanation of the political history of the Canyon and the Park that was created to protect it.Author Kevin and photographer Pete McBride assumed that their plan to hike from one end of the Canyon to the other would be an easy, pleasant “walk in the park.” However, they had barely left Lee’s Ferry before they came face-to-face with the reality of what they had undertaken. Kevin had experience as a river runner and felt he knew what he was getting into as they followed in the footsteps of the “godfather of Canyon hiking”—Harvey Butchart—and “the man who walked through time”—Colin Fletcher. They soon discovered the truth of Edward Abbey’s statement: “There are some good things to be said about walking. Not many but some.”Kevin describes the beauty, the magic, of this place while acknowledging his friend Matthew’s statement that “In addition to its mysteries and its beauty, I think suffering is at the center of what it means to be in the Canyon.”Kevin gives credit to the many individuals who belong to that select group of hikers who have walked the length of the Canyon from Lee’s Ferry to the Grand Wash Cliffs. He also delves into the history of humans in the Canyon—from the Native American tribes to the river runners to the present day efforts of those who want to develop the Canyon and those who want to protect it. Above all, he gives credit to the pilgrims who visit the Canyon—those “who [have] come to a holy place, a cathedral in the desert, in the hope of standing in the presence of something greater than themselves, something that would enable them to feel profoundly diminished and radically expanded in the same breath. They [are] pilgrims because there is something sacred in the belief that, despite its ugliness and its many depravities, there are still places in our fallen and shattered world where wonder abides.”
  • Ovearall a Great Book
As someone who has hiked on the rim of the Grand Canyon and and down into the canyon many times I found this book really interesting. I have hiked on a lot of different trails but all of them are the more well traveled trails though some of them can be very quiet at times. This book goes to a lot of places that I haven’t been and would love to go to, but probably never well. The reason for the lost of one start is because at the beginning of the book he is so over the top when talking about the Grand Canyon that even though I think it is a unique and awesome place it was just too much. He even says at one point “in some areas even the streams are rendered so tenuous by the heat that their waters recede into the stone by day and emerge only by night”. Stream waters do not go in and out of stones and particularly not based on night and day. Also, he has a theme through the book about being totally unprepared and not adequate for a hike through the canyon. He had a lot of experience in the canyon though and must have done a lot of preparation otherwise he wouldn’t have survived. He even admits at one point that his hiking partner wasn’t happy with the way he talked about this and he said he did it because it made it more interesting or something like that. Besides that it is a great story, has a lot of great information and he shows a lot of consideration for the canyon, the people that work and vist there and the indigenous people that live there.
  • Great read!
    Well written with a little geography… geology…. history ….. a little humor ….and a great adventure.
  • grand!
A truly remarkable, introspective, inviting walk thru the canyon. Beautifully and thoughtfully written. A story of a canyon most revered.
  • Fascinating, informative read
A wonderful adventure story of learning and adapting to constantly changing conditions. This is a marvelous story with historical background that will broaden hour appreciation of the park and the challenge it offers.
  • A Worthy Read
A great writing style about a potentially vanishing topic – plenty of self-deprecation about the attempt to accomplish what could be described as lunacy by some. Lots of careful observations but some a little too ‘touchy-feely’ for me. Some of Pete’s photographs would have been nice.

  • Picture Perfect!!
Gave it as a gift and they loved it!!!
  • Wanderlust
An absolutely beautiful book! Much larger than expected! Looking forward to spending time near the fireplace this winter, turning the pages of stunner! Wanderlust!
  • Good retirement gift
This book is large in size, hard cover, good quality and graphics. I have this as a retirement gift and it was well received. Would order again for similar gifting. This item would look good on a coffee table.
  • Great book about delicious food
It is a very good book with great pictures. It has detailed descriptions of the food and the places. Good value with lost of information.
  • Beautiful photos, still missing a lot of the world
I would describe this book as one containing summaries of potential trips by land, dearer way, rail, foot and a culinary focused chapter.Overall I liked the book itself. It’s very big and the pages are long. Photos are very beautiful, but I wish it highlighted more of the world content wise. I felt like a lot of underrated places didn’t make the cut.I did appreciate how it listed links and suggestions for the trip recommendations.
  • Impressive book!
It is much larger than I imagined, so read the description carefully. More of a coffee table book in size, but beautiful and full of gorgeous photos – will make an impressive gift!
  • The best travel book around!
This book is amazing considering the low cost! It has so many well known and not so well known places in the world. I have been fortunate enough to have been able to take a full World Cruise in 2015 and now I spend about a month each year (by cruise) going to places that I haven’t yet been to as well as some repeat places that I fell in love with and that are included in this book. It’s even an entertaining one for those who want to ‘see’ what they wouldn’t be able to in person. Throughout my extensive travels I still find new and unexplored places to visit – this is a great way to find info about them, if only a page or two. Whether it’s used for travel or for entertaining reading purposes I highly recommend it – the other ‘world’ travel books don’t compare to this one! Happy Travels from an armchair or in ‘real life’!!! This would also make a great and unique gift for someone!
  • Big Beautiful Book

  • Good
Very easy and easy to use has nice color the print could be a bit bigger, But still did the job.
  • Smart buy!
Great comprehensive maps at a low price, so I can get updated maps regularly.
  • Has a good variety of maps for road trips
I grew up using folding maps and atlas’s for travel, then eagerly migrated to GPS maps and digital devices. Routing with GPS cannot be beat for convenience and speed in setup. Yet on my long trips I often found myself wishing I had a large paper map to lay out and view. Looking for alternative routes and areas of interest becomes onerous on a small cell phone screen. While traveling the cell maps show just a tiny section of the route and you have to manually manipulate to see the larger picture, and even then the screen is so small that seeing details is impossible.I turned then to this Atlas to keep in my vehicles while making long trips. One of the inviting features of this particular Atlas that was appealing is the Scenic Drives section with maps by State and featured drives offering suggestions and greater detail for trips. This is very nice indeed and I’ve found it useful in coming up with ideas for pleasure trips, and even to enhance business travel. The cost is very low when compared to useful printed manuals and reference materials making this not only a no-brainer but really a “must have” purchase. I pulled a star only because the page size is really too small for the maps presented. It would be much more useful to print individual maps across two pages of this size to present the best detail. While the desired information is usually present, it is so small that you need reading glasses or a magnifying lens to see easily. Otherwise, this fulfills the mission, and the size does make it easier to store and carry. Overall, I’m very happy with the Atlas, and particularly at this price point.
  • Wonderful Holiday or Birthday Gift that could last a lifetime. A Must have for Your Home Library.
I am impressed. Easy general use for all states plus Mexico and Canada. Much, much larger than any cell phone or iPad map. Should travel well as it is compact or endure for years in your home library. The front and back covers are nicely printed on really good coated quality paper. Great for conversations about past or future traveled; “Do you remember when”? Get a distance prospective of where out-of-town friends and family live. This is a really nice gift you could give anyone, at any age, for any holidays or a birthday.
  • Love it
I love this edition of the scenic drives. I have looked at all of them and plan to go on a couple of them work my way through them. It’s a good map.
  • DISAPPOINTED IN SIZE AND PRINT.
Very small for an Atlas. Some people still use maps like us. Very disappointed in size. Can hardly see printing without magnifying glass. Hard to use.
  • Great buy
I’m old school. Love the large size and easy visibility.
